As I was merging onto highway 694 North, I had to accelerate because of a semi approaching me from behind, I gave the truck full throttle but the truck started shaking and the engine felt like it quit or just had no power left. The truck struggled to reach 55mph, and within seconds I almost got rear-ended and almost ran off the highway, do to the fact that my truck had no power. After I merged onto the highway the truck shook violently for about 3 miles while my check engine light was flashing. During this time it felt as though my truck had lost 50% of its power.

I was merging into traffic after picking up my daughter from daycare. I pressed down on the accelerator firmly to gain speed to get into traffic. My truck stalled with a pinging noise coming from the engine and an uncharacteristic black smoke pouring out of the exhaust pipe. Oncoming traffic had to brake to avoid hitting my truck on my daughters side. The truck recovered but only gradually picked up speed with very little power. It was a low constant acceleration. This is the 4th time this has happened with my truck but this time it endangered my daughter so I feel that I need to speak out. This needs to be addressed before my 1.5 year old daughter or someone else gets hurt due to faulty equipment.

I am glad that we were not in a situation that we could have gotten killed because of the throttle problem. The first time we were driving down the road at 45 mph suddenly the accelerator would not respond, the engine was still running at a rough idle. We had to coast to the shoulder. Stopped turned off the truck, it was able to restart and the accelerator was working again. We drove to the local Ford dealer. At the Ford dealer they could not identify the problem. The second time this happened was when we were going 55 mph. Coasted to shoulder of the road and I was able to restart the truck and drove very carefully to the Ford dealer. This time they were able to get a code reading of the problem. The code called for a recalibration. This was done. Drove the truck home thinking that it was repaired. The third time this happened was on the interstate traveling 75mph. Luckily we were in the right lane and was able to coast to the shoulder. Repeated same procedure as above. Returned to the Ford dealer. This time they read the code(P2112) and replaced the throttle body and motor assembly. This problem with the throttle could have very easily caused a deadly crash. I feel that my wife and are very lucky as we could have been in a very serious accident.

When attempting to pass a slower moving vehicle, I moved into the left pass lane and pushed on the gas, the truck began to shudder violently, lose power, and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealership where I bought it and they did the intercooler fix. After that the problem continued. Check engine light came on, took back to dealership, they told me it was a spark plug, replaced it, on the drive home same problem, engine shudders violently, loses power, goes into limp mode, and check engine light either flashes or goes solid. I have had this problem since the day I purchased the truck new from the dealer.

On the night of Dec 20, 2013, I was traveling South on I81 North of syracuse NY. Road conditions were not very good. A block of ice fell off a truck ahead of me, evasive action was not possible due to ice and traffic volume. The ice struck the alternator which is cleverly positioned about 10" off the ground on the lower left front of the vehicle. The vehicle began to lose electrical power system by system. I cant recall the exact sequence, as it was all happening pretty fast. Eventually, the electric power steering system lost power. When this happens on this vehicle, you lose all steering capability. Its not like its just manual steering, there is no steering other than the ability to slightly alter course by pulling extremely hard on the wheel. The vehicle had no lights, the shoulders were unplowed, stopping wasn't a good idea. As good fortune would have it, the cicero NY exit presented itself at that moment. I was able to pull extremely hard on the wheel and was able to steer the slight curve. At the bottom, I discovered I had no breaks. I shot across the usually busy NY 31 and into a kwikstop, where I stomped on the emergency brake and came to a stop. We shortly discovered a fire underneath the engine and were able to extinguish it with snow. I cannot believe a steering system like this is permitted. Had I known it had this system and its limitations, id never have bought the car. If my son and I had been killed that night, it would have all been chalked up to road conditions. In furious about this system. It needs to be recalled.....now.

My family and I were on our way to disney world in orlando, Florida when my 2011 Ford 3.5 liter ecoboost F150 truck completely shut down on the interstate 10 highway in the middle of nowhere, probably 60 miles to the East of tallahassee Florida. At first I thought that we were not going to make it, as the truck completely died out. I pulled off to the side and finally got the vehicle started. We had been steady state cruising with the cruise set at 70 for atleast 2-2.5 hours. After doing some reading I see that it was probably condensation in the intercooler that entered the intake tract when I had accelerated to go around a big truck that was barely making it up a hill on interstate 10. This was a real bad experience, this has happened atleast 2 times since then. Luckily I have not had a wreck or crashed, but as I keep reading up, I see many people complaining about the ecoboost F150. Now, I have a truck in the shop with a blown motor, and I can only imagine that the water getting into the motor and the motor trying to compress that water was what caused my engine failure. I metal from the internal rotating assembly shoot through the side of my engine block last week. I believe that happened due to the water and the water bending the connecting rods. Please help.

Since owning a new 2001 Ford F-150 ecoboost, I have noticed several issues with the engine. Loss of power when accelerating, shuttering when braking and poor fuel economy. I have taken the vehicle in for service and they have applied technical service bullitins, but the issue returns. The latest problem was a failed coil pack causing my vehicle to almost stall on the highway. Ford didn't cover the part under their powertrain warranty.

Loss of power brakes upon initial start-up and movement. The vacuum pump that provides assistance to power brakes and 4X4 wheel hubs fails without notice. Driver expects to stop vehicle under normal operating pressure applied to brake pedal. Vehicles does not respond to normal force and keeps moving. Extreme force to be provide to brake pedal to slow vehicle to a stop. This could result in injury or death if another person in the path of the vehicle. Ford will not recall or cover repairs of faulty pump. Pump is located behind front headlight on vehicle. Cost of part is $565 + labor to repair to be paid by owner. Serious safety concern for persons near vehicle without proper operation of braking system. An investigation needs to be opened immediately upon Ford. Understanding is that Ford redesigned vacuum system for 2014 model year to correct safety issue. Redesign should be mandated on previous model years to correct safety issue.

While driving at 55mph attempted to pass a vehicle on a two lane highway. Accelerated hard to pass and heard a loud metal on metal sound and lost power briefly. I was unable to replicate the initial incident, but now the truck randomly misfires and shutters under hard acceleration. Sometimes the check engine light will illuminate other times it does not. Dealer has been able to replicate the misfire but claims they can do nothing more. This is a safety issue because when power is needed most it is unreliable. I have escalated the matter to the corporate level at Ford but have not heard anything back yet.

The eco boost V 6 motor started missing under acceleration causing massive loss of power on the highway. Took the truck to friendly Ford in springfield Missouri for immediate repairs. They admitted the cause was a design flaw on the inter cooler which in turn caused failure of three solenoids to fail. July 2013 I was accelerating onto highway and the miss fire happened again and did not quit until I pulled off the road and turned the motor off and then restarted the engine. The service rep at the Ford dealer reported the problem was extremely common and suspected a recall was coming. I asked him why Ford was not standing behind the obvious and dangerous design flaw and he said he thought they would have to eventually due to the magnitude of the problem.. I was charged $620.51 to correct very dangerous problems directly related to a Ford design problem.

Coasting at low speed around 7mph I attempted to accelerate, instantly as I put my foot on the gas pedal, now not even making it to 10mph, the 3.5L ecoboost engine made an incredibly loud and hard bang and continued to grow louder and shake more violently. I came to a stop on the side of the road I shut down the truck to find oil spilling from the passenger side of the block. I had the truck towed to my local dealership and they found that two connecting rods had broke and destroyed the block. They is no concern from anyone at Ford about how this could have happened.

Returning home from a weekend camping trip with my family and pulling a travel trailer via I-81 in va, I depressed the accelerator approaching a long hill, and abruptly lost all engine and drive power, the engine shuddered violently, the transmission downshifted to lower gear and the check engine light flashed a few times. We had absolutely no power and I thought the engine was going to shut off. I was in the 2nd lane from the right and had to quickly move to the right lane then to the shoulder to avoid being hit from behind. This was very dangerous while pulling a 34' travel trailer. I had to pull the vehicle to the shoulder and stop completely to regain control. I had to put the truck in park and turn it off before it returned to somewhat normal drivability. While continuing to climb the uphill grade, the engine misfired and hesitated constantly. I could only apply gently pressure to the accelerator to keep the vehicle moving. Once over the hill the vehicle picked up speed and returned to normal drivability for the remainder of the trip. The same exact problem occurred again a few months later while driving South on rt-4 in md with my wife, and not pulling a trailer. This time I didn't shut the engine off, but had to pull to the shoulder to regain control and engine power. As I continued on RT4 the engine misfired and hesitated several more miles. Once at my destination I turned the vehicle off, then upon departure the vehicle operated more normal, but experienced misfire and hesitations several mile returning home. The next day the vehicle operated normally, but I took it to the Ford dealership to have it repaired. This is a very unsafe situation and makes me very leary driving this vehicle on a normal basis. If I was accelerating while crossing the highway and this problem happened, there is a great chance of getting into an accident or causing one.
