Similar incident occurred few months later and the vehicle underwent recommended repair/upgrade per Ford tsb including intercooler cover and reflash of computer. For past week vehicle has had persistent power loss and "shuttering" during acceleration. This not only limits the drivability of the vehicle, it also endangers the occupants when attempting to merge with traffic and crossing intersections. The dealership is aware of the problem, however there seems to be no effort to find a "complete and lasting" solution.

I have been having problems with engine noise ranging from a deep howling to a sound like a steel chain being drug over an aluminum ladder. I have had problems with the sync, memory seats and steering wheel, auto start, and an ongoing problem with hesitation or miss firing in the engine that cause the truck to loose power on acceleration and go into limp mode. I have had some really close calls getting onto the highway where I was almost hit from behind when the truck lost power. I have had the truck in the shop 13 times and getting ready to go back for the 14th time. I have tried the BBB and the lemon law program which I was denied by a third party arbitrator. I was expecting that because a BBB employee said 93% of all people that file a lemon law claim in Missouri get denied. I have an extended warranty with 50,000 miles left on it and the Ford engineer in charge of repairs says he refuses to do anything about the engine noise anymore because of the past failed repairs. This is an V6 ecoboost. I don't know what to do next.

Event occurred 3 times over a period from 27 Oct 13 to 21 Nov 13, decelerating while towing a trailer. Speed varied all three times from a high of about 60mph, to a low of 45mph. Message center would turn orange and display a wrench symbol, while the engine discontinues producing power. After pulling over, simply turning the vehicle off, then restarting, everything appears normal again. Two Ford dealers "found no codes", and were unable to further diagnose the issue. The second dealer attempted to collect data via an onboard computer as well, but the event wouldn't repeat while the device was installed, nor was I towing during that time. One of these events occurred on a two lane road with no shoulder available. Traffic had to stop until I restarted. Dangerous at best. The third even occurred going up a one lane freeway flyover. I was able to coast past the bridge structures and onto the shoulder, however, this occurred during rain, and multiple other vehicles had to make accident avoiding maneuvers, including tractor trailer rigs. Very dangerous. I have replaced the vehicle.

Following two heavily laden 18 wheelers during a light rain storm for two or more miles on a paved, two lane county road, it came clear for me to pass, I accelerated and all went well for just long enough for me to get even with the first one in front of me. My momentum carried me far enough to pull back in front of the first truck. By that time I was in serious trouble. My truck would barely run, it was vibrating violently and there was no acceleration to get me out of the way of the truck I had just passed. Had he not braked hard for me there could have been a serious wreck. I've have had 5 other incidents with this vehicle. I've taken it up with fomoco, over a period the first year. Working through the Oklahoma BBB I was assured Ford would correct the problem. Fomoco sent a Texas rep to my work location to put the most recent fix on the vehicle. Following this fix, we continued into a dry spell, but as fate would would have it, I was in a heavy rain within the next 2 weeks and the problem reappeared. This time my wife was in the vehicle with me. She thought I had run over something because the action of the pickup was so violent. I've occasionally seen letters to the editor of motor trend's "truck trend". other people describing the exact thing I've experienced driving this same type vehicle (early model ecoboost V-6, those built prior to April 2011, I believe). I have a huge file from the time when I was trying very hard to get this corrected, dealerships, dates, times, correspondence, Ford tech bulletins, but I refuse to waste my time with you unless you contact me acting as if something might seriously be done. Pulled to the side of road and after a minute truck cleared up and drove normal. Currently the truck surges under moderate acceleration and in 3rd gear will go into limp mode and lose all power. Only occurs under moderate acceleration.

Rainy day traveling on highway 19 near crockett, Texas. Tried to pass slow moving vehicle and engine stalled, check engine light came on and started missing. Lost power and I was forced on the side of the road to avoid collision. Took truck to dealer and he installed a small plate over inter cooler. Several months later while passing on a humid day same thing occurred with same results. Pulled to side of road because I could not get back into my lane due to other cars. Took back to Ford in October, 2013 and they installed another plate on bottom of intercooler and reprogrammed the computer. I have no faith in the repairs and will probably never try a pass in any humid or wet weather.

While traveling a two lane hwy, on rt 81 from Tennessee to Virginia in the early hours of the morning, we were pulling our 24 foot camping trailer, we were behind a tt unit and there was a tt unit behind us, we were all attempting to pass a slower mv in the right hand lane, when I tried to accelerate the truck shuddered and the engine completely went limp, the engine light came on and we were barley able to make it to the side of the road, and prevent an accident, . when we did get to the side of the road the engine light continued to flash and the truck was not running..

Vehicle experienced hesitation when trying to accelerate. Vehicle experiences jerkiness and at times complete power loss when trying to accelerate. Vehicle lurches and hesitates when trying to maintain speed going up hills, or when trying to accelerate like when passing a car or on an interstate on ramp. Issues have been reported to Ford numerous times over past 2yrs, several various excuses provided and an occasional 'attempt' at fixing, with no remedy. Most recent event (Sep 2013) involved a near crash due to vehicle rapidly losing power in busy traffic. Other incidents in the past have included stalling in the middle of an intersection when trying to accelerate from a full stop and nearly losing control when pulling a boat/trailer and the vehicle began to lurch/jerk when going up hills.

This weekend I was pulling a camper in the rain and it done it five times you have to pull over on the highway and start over when there is no one in sight and also try stopping on the interstate in the rain and pray no one hits you with your family in the vehicle. And this truck has been to the dealer fifteen times for repairs with only 15,000 miles on it.

Departed eureka, ca at 1600 in heavy rain on Friday September 20, 2013. Eureka to redding ca on highway 299. Rain was heavy for about 100 miles northbound on highway 299. At about the 100 mile mark, I attempted to pass another vehicle (sudden acceleration) when the engine began to rapidly lose power and the truck started to shake violently and shudder. The engine light on the dash began to flash. At first I thought it was a flat tire. Because I was in "the middle of nowhere" I continued on towards weaverville. I was climbing a steep hill, slowly and the truck continued to shake and shudder for about 6 miles until I got to the top of Oregon hill (summit). When I reached the top, I put the truck in neutral and carefully coasted down the hill. Within 2 miles (of coasting and the road is dry now) the flashing engine light went off and the truck appeared to return to normal operation. After this, I continued my travel to reno, Nevada and had no further problems. The truck is running fine right now.

As we were driving through lexington Kentucky on rt 75 North, towing our enclosed car trailer with our mustang inside. It was raining pretty hard and there were 4 lanes of traffic on a rather steep grade, the truck went into limp mode as we attempted to change lanes on the freeway to allow traffic to merge from an on ramp. I had just read about a few incidents where this same thing had happened to others before we had left on this trip. The truck dropped to about 30 miles per hour, I had to maneuver to the right shoulder in heavy traffic towing a 20' long trailer in a heavy rain storm. We stopped the truck, shut it off, as described in the forums I had read about this same problem, and let it set for about 15 minutes. It restarted fine and ran good the rest of the way back to Ohio. When we returned home I took the truck into the dealership we purchased it from and they said because the computer showed no codes there was nothing wrong with the truck, I was prepared for that with the articles that I had read and I said fix it or I'll file a suit against the dealership and Ford! the mileage had dropped from about 16-17 mpg in the city to about 11 mpg in the city, it took them supposedly until August to "get the parts in" so far it's been fine but I haven't had an opportunity to duplicate the situation again.
