We were returning from Arkansas in our F150 with the ecoboost engine in rain/heavy mist. We were on the interstate for a long period of time and when I went to pass a slower vehicle the truck just shook and wouldn't accelerate. It happened again 1.5 hours later in the same conditions, truck would not accept anything beyond 3/8 throttle. This happened before when we were in the rain (coming from Arkansas) with the exact same conditions (year ago). I haven't taken the truck to the dealer as from reading several places there isn't a true fix at this point. Some people are drilling holes in their intercoolers trying to drain the water that appears to be the issue.

I had read about this issue but thought I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have a issue. However at about 11,500 miles driving in a rainy humid day on the highway I got in a spot where I had a rig going about 30mph and I was doing about 60mph having more than enough time to pass safely before the other rig coming up in the passing lane I decided to go around.. as soon as I pushed the pedal to the floor and got in the passing lane the truck lost power, ,, shuddered badly and I almost couldn't get around the rig that was only doing 30! after getting by I decided to try to get off the road and again I was successful but not without the anxiety on thinking the rig coming up would not be able to slow down enough to allow me to get off the road without pushing me off. So far there have been no known accidents but again if the conditions are right for an accident to happen could be as simple as passing on a foggy night and the person coming up on you at 70 never saw the F150 ecoboost sitting in the passing lane doing 45 trying to get it off the side of the road passing at the top of a hill with nowhere to pull off to the right as going down the hill with a 70 mph tractor trailer driver doing his best to shut down his rig trying to avoid a jack knife due to a F150 ecoboost doing 40 mph with no where to pull off! so any of you that think this isn't a big problem waiting to happen then I suggest one thing.... hope, ,, pray, ,,, that you never come up on a ecoboost passing a rig and find yourself between a F150 losing 30 mph and trying to get off the road, then you, , followed by a rig doing 70 mph on your bumper in the passing lane!!!

It first started when I merged onto the interstate and it lost all power and misfired. I took it to the dealership and they replaced to parts. Know my truck has a miss in the engine took it back to Ford and the first dealership said that it was because I had aftermarket tires on it and the engine was to small for the size of my truck. So I asked to take it to a different dealer and they charged me $95 to say it was the aftermarket grille guard that is on my truck. Nothing shows on the computer but they all feel the miss the truck only has 13000 miles on it and I am afraid to drive it long distance. I am stationed in germany and my parents have my truck so I am listing there information below.

While accelerating to enter highway the vehicle lurched and lost power and the engine started shaking violently.I pulled off the road and shut the engine off. I started it again and it seemed to run fine for a time. Later while under a load it would miss. The check engine light came on. This could have caused an accident in this heavy traffic. I took it to the dealer and they ordered parts, but didn't seem to confident of being able to fix the problem..

This truck continues to have hesitation and almost stalls during hard acceleration. I have returned it to the dealer several times and they are not allowed to do the repair, which is know by Ford, unless there is a "code". they maintain this condition will not occur without the code being present which I am absolutely certain is not true. This is going to cause an accident before it is over. I called Ford customer relations and they will not perform the repair without the "code" being present. This is dangerous, Ford understands the problem and how to fix it but will not without the code being present, which is not always present when it occurs. Go Ford!

When attempting to pass the vehicle loses power under hard acceleration. This has happened several times, usually at highway speed, wet/humid conditions, under hard acceleration. I have taken the truck into the dealership to have them perform the work outlined in a tech bulletin from Ford but the problem persists. Just yesterday (10/6/13 at about 12:25pm approx 65 degrees F) driving in light rain on I-96 near grand rapids, mi I accelerated hard from about 65mph to pass on the freeway and the vehicle lost power nearly causing an accident.

Traveling with my wife from little rock to houston on a rainy / humid day with the temperature at about 80-85 degrees, I accelerated quickly to pass on a 4-lane highway. The truck began shuddering violently and we experienced a loss of power. After slowing down and pulling off and restarting the truck it seemed to run fine. This happened two more times during the trip. The second time the check engine light began to flash, but ended up going off. The third time the light flashed and stayed on. After getting back to houston I took the truck in and they "reprogrammed the cac" and installed a new "air dam deflector plate." I just got the vehicle back so I do not yet know if this fixed the problem permanently, however, I have searched numerous blogs and websites and discovered that hundreds of other owners have had the exact same experience with their 3.5L ecoboost engines. I also understand that Ford has not offered any kind of recall for this problem. The characteristics of the power loss (and exactly at a critical time when power is needed) were frightening and extremely dangerous. Had I been passing on a two-lane road instead of a 4-lane highway, we could have been killed. There is the potential for a head-on collision, a second car rear-ending my vehicle, or a loss of control due to the shuddering and instability at high speeds. I did contact Ford regarding this and was basically told there is no recall and they just recommended that I have the repairs done. It is completely ridiculous that they know about this issue and don't 1) recall the vehicles that may experience this problem and, 2) let the general public know about the issue - for those purchasing a new vehicle. It is deceptive and irresponsible.

On 2 Sept 2013, in Florida, I was attempting to cross a two lane road into the median and merge into traffic going the opposite direction. When I attempted to accelerate the vehicle immediately started to sputter and had loss of power that barely allowed me to cross before traffic arrived. The rough running continued after I attempted to merge into traffic and continued for about a 1/4 mile before where I was able to exit. It started running correct shortly after that. The weather was clear and around mid 80's, mileage was around 9500, speed was 0-50 mph. The second incident occurred on 27 Sept 2013, in Missouri, as I was attempting to pass traffic on I-70. The vehicle again started to sputter with dramatic loss of power that didn't allow it to maintain traffic speeds. The check engine light started flashing and I continued to the next exit. I pulled over and shut the vehicle off and started it again. The engine light became steady and remained on for the remainder of the 900 mile trip. It is being taken in for service. The weather was rainy and in the 60's. mileage was around 11000 and speed was around 65-70 mph.

The truck started shaking violently while trying to pass a truck on the two lane highway. There was a huge loss in power and couldn't complete passing the truck. Extremely unsafe to have to slow down while still shaking and bucking to get back behind the truck that I was trying to pass. This violent shaking and loss of power has happened many times even after the many trips to the Ford service department's. none of the bandages have worked that Ford has attempted. This has been a nightmare to not feel safe in a 4X4 truck nor will my wife ride in it anymore because of the issue scaring her last time she rode in the truck. The problem happens when it rains or has rained recently or is humid which would be every day in the state of Florida.

TL-the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 10 mph the vehicle stalled. Suddenly the vehicle accelerated without applying the accelerator pedal. The contact stated access fuel flooded the engine. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer regarding the acceleration and the engine fuel. The dealer could not diagnose the vehicle. The failure mileage was 8,700.

Loss of power with vehicle vibration when accelerating to pass a vehicle on highway. Truck has the ecoboost engine. After the first time this happened, I attempted another aggressive acceleration to duplicate the problem which it did. One instance the engine light came on. This occurred during a rainy day. This was the first time I attempted to accelerate this aggressively since buying the truck. This could be a dangerous defect in the right conditions. I.e. passing on a two lane road. I research online to discover the ongoing investigation. I called the dealer to make appointment; the service manager took my VIN but stated nothing showed up in the computer for any issues with my year make and model.

Problem with engine losing power and detonation in cylinders during acceleration. First reported problem of engine shutter within weeks of purchase. Engine has never operated correctly. I have brought the truck to the dealer three times and they know that the cac is the problem but refuse to replace it. The last incident on Sep. 20 2013 happened when entering high speed traffic and the truck completely lost power and my family and I were almost hit my oncoming traffic. I had to "limp" off to the side of the road as the truck would not operate. This eco-boost issue is going to get someone hurt or killed.

I have an 2012 F-150 with the ecoboost engine and about two weeks after I bought it my wife and I were going to try and merge into interstate traffic, when I went accelerate to traffic speed the engine just fell on it's face, I let off and tried it again with the same result. I was lucky that the other drivers had sense enough to move to the next lane or we could have been in trouble. I called the Ford dealer and told them what had happened and they said they had not heard of this problem but to bring it in and they would look at it. I took it in and after 7 hours they called and said they could not find anything wrong, I asked if they searched for recalls on software or something else and they said there was nothing from Ford about the problem. This was only a month or so ago, sounds like maybe my Ford dealer did not look too hard for the bulletins that Ford sent to dealers, this chaps my butt!

I purchased my F-150 ecoboost, on July 28, 2012. Almost immediately after purchasing it, I have had issues with the engine. Often when it rains, the truck will not start or when it does start, it refuses to go or when it is going, it will not accelerate. When I attempt to pass a slow vehicle, there is no power. The engine boggs down, to an idle. The truck has left me stranded numerous times. I took my family on a trip to miami, Florida, during the christmas holiday. On the open road the motor quit. I was able to limp it into a Ford dealer, who had to perform extensive engine repairs in able to get the truck running again. While I was driving it back to Tennessee, after 3 weeks of repairs, it happened several more times. When I attempt to pass slower vehicles, I try to accelerate and there is no power. It is dangerous, particular when traveling on 2 lane country roads with hills. Often, when I park and exit the truck, there is a strong odor of gas coming from somewhere under the hood of the vehicle. This is a fire hazard. On 2 occasions, the driver's seat has come unattached from the floor of the truck. This morning, I went to take my children to school I was driving and heard/felt thumping and the seat fell back, I was nearly laying on my back, while driving. This has happened twice. This is dangerous and scary, when it happens while driving down the road. The Ford customer care representative was very flipped and seemed to be more concerned with ensuring that I understood the terms of the warranty than the safety of my vehicle. I was insulted and humiliated, for suggesting they provide me with something to drive while they corrected the problem. The first time this happened, it took 3 weeks to fix. I bought this vehicle, I should not have to buy another vehicle to drive. To date the best fuel mileage I have gotten is 13.2 miles per gallon.

This complaint pertains to the 3.5 liter ecoboost engine. I was driving on I-95 at approximately 70 mph with the cruise control activated. There were four lanes of traffic at this location. When I attempted to accelerate around a slower vehicle, the engine shuttered and went into limp mode. I had to drive onto the berm, nearly causing a crash. The engine returned to normal after several minutes and I was able to continue my trip from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. This engine shutter occurred three more times during my return to pa. The last time the service engine light remained activated. The loss of engine power on a busy multiple lane highway is an extreme hazard and could result in a serious vehicle crash. It is time for Ford to issue a recall for this known issue.

I was driving my vehicle down the road at around 50 mph, I started to pass the vehicle in front of me and my truck lost power. I couldn't complete the pass and nearly was hit head on because I couldn't get back into the lane I came from. When I hit the accelerator the vehicle lost power and slowed to 40 mph. After letting off the accelerator and hitting it again still nothing 40 was as fast as it would go. I was able to make it to a pull off spot and tried taking off again and the vehicle performed as normal. There were no engine lights of any kind that illuminated during this time. This occured at approximately 18,000 miles. It currently has 20,768 miles on it and has done it 2 more times. Both times the same exact symptoms. I googled the issue and found many others are having this problem. I also seen where there was a service bulletin for the problem and recommendations for a possible fix from Ford. I took it back to Ford and told them my issue, I just picked it up and they advised me they did nothing to it because they couldn't get it to act up, and there was no stored engine codes. The dealer said I bet it only happens to you huh, if it happens again we will take another look at it. They totally blew it off and wanted the truck and me out of there. This is a safety issue and is a huge inconvienience to have to take it in to the dealer all the time for something they should have already fixed. For as much as Ford is charging for these trucks they could at least take care of the problems that they have created. Of course it will be hard for the techs to duplicate when it happens randomly at various mileages.

Upon acceleration, between 15-25 mph, my truck began to stumble and lost power. This was the first time. It has happened four times since with the latest occurrence on Sept. 3, 2013. The vehicle mileage is currently 18xxx. The problem normally occurs coming off of idle and accelerating into traffic. It has occurred, however, once on the highway while attempting to overtake a slower driver. Speed was approximately 65-70 during that instance. At no time did any fault lights illuminate and after a few minutes of lightly pressing the throttle, it seem to clear up.
