I have a 2013 Ford F150 extended cab. My family had been using these truck for more than 2 years now... either its a long drive or just going to work or buying grocery. I was going to buy some stuff at the grocery and my 5 year old son decided to come. We hop inside the truck pull out from my driveway then I decided to check the mail before going to the highway and that's when the incident happened.

The engine stopped, the steering wheel become stiff and the brakes locked. I couldn't press the brake, no matter how hard I tried. Its a good thing that I was only traveling 15km/ hr. I just drive into the curb and let it stop on its own. Its a good thing I decided to check the mail first, what if I just drove off to the main highway and these thing happen and with my 5y/o inside the truck. Just the thought of it really scares me and what if my whole family was in the truck including my newborn daughter and these incident happen.

Before I was driving a Japanese made car then decided to exchange it with Ford because of some safety issue. But the question now is every time we use these trucks I'm putting my family safety in question especially that these things can happen at any given time.

high pressure fuel pump died on a trip, truck stuck on side of road. luckily nobody got hurt but we were stranded on way to a vacation destination. The dealer suggested we go get the part over 150 miles away or trade in the truck to get to our destination. We couldn't get a loaner to tow the boat without a fight.

I WAS TOLD IF THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THEY CANT DO ANYTHING. THIS IS HAPPENING ON A DAILY BASIS.

Bought new 6/2012 and have had power problems twice. Once I was stopped in traffic and tried to pull into a different lane that was moving. I punched the gas to fit into flowing traffic and there was no response at all from my truck. All of a sudden it took off like a wild animal and scared the crap out of me. The second time I was merging onto the interstate and punched the gas to get on, the truck responded with great power then died and we were sitting ducks at about 40 mph. The truck regained its power in about a half mile and I haven't experienced the problem again. This is a big safety issue because when you jump on a major highway these days you need power to merge. The semi behind you needs 3 football fields to stop. Highways are dangerous enough without this problem, my ford dealer acts like I'm the first person to complain about it.

Whenever accelerating the engine feels like it cut off but didn't, just lost power. Dealership claims Humidity and or blockage of the opening in front of the vehicle. So hog wash on the blockage, there's nothing there as it was from the factory.

After closely observing the vehicle under acceleration, I noticed this: 1) Doesn't like drafting. 2) When trying to pass, don't be too close the vehicle in front of you. 3) I noticed when the temperatures were in the 90's, it did matter what the road conditions were, it didn't like fast, slamming the pedal, accelerations, gradually then slap the pedal was more effective.

Right or wrong, this is how I operate the vehicle to get the best result, obviously the dealership was no help.

I was going out west to visit my family and had my Harley Davidson Ultra in the back. It was raining most of the trip of 3400 km 4 times I lost power when trying to pass slower vehicles and the truck shook so bad I had to pull of the road and stop and shut the truck off and restart it.The 4th time it messed up I was passing a transport trailer and a truck come over a hill so I stepped hard on the gas pedal the truck lost power so all I could do was hit the breaks and try to get back into my own lane. But the transport seen what was happening and he hit his breaks so I had to slam the breaks on real hard and just got back into my lane as the east bound truck went by I was half a second from being killed because of this problem. The worst part is Ford don't care about my safety or any body else that owns a Eco-boost. I am getting a good lawyer and sue Fords ass for not warning me about this problem, the vehicle was not sold with a big warning sticker in the window saying "may cause DEATH driving in damped and rainy conditions".

While in Alberta I have called multiple times Ford of Canada and told them to help me to get ride of this vehicle because of all the problems I had. Either help me get a 5.0 or just take the Eco Boost out of my truck to put a 5.0.

I am really disappointed in this big lemon and the "service" of Ford Canada.

Trying to accelerate onto freeway in west texas near town of Monahans. Legal speed limit is posted at 80 mph. I was doing about 25 mph and was slowly speeding up to merge. Engine Tachometer went to between 5500 and 6500 rpm transmission felt like it went to neutral. Engine started missing as if running on two or three cylinders. This has happened at least 5 times in the last 3 or 4 days. Good gas, same brand and rating as normally used. When vehicle idles it is very rough. Dealer can't understand problem. Most likely needs recalibrated. Had same thing happen on my 2009 Ford Flex. Same dealer could not figure problem out.

Update from Jul 7, 2013: TSB 13-3-3 performed by Stowe Ford of Gordon Texas. Last week of June. I am taking truck on 1,000 mile trip pulling small 10 ft trailer and ATV. Under same conditions it failed before. I will see if problem was fixed. Dealer replaced intercooler and deflector, also replaced left (driver side) catalytic converter. Reflashed computer. Truck

still deposits excessive amounts of soot in the exhaust pipe. Have never had this happen on any of my other Ford vehicles.

F-150 Lariat Ecoboost

The shudder and loss of power has occurred repeatedly in both dry and damp conditions. The first time was on the highway and was in extremely wet conditions (Florida downpour). Computer update and recommendation of applying a TSB was undertaken at Bill Currie Ford in Tampa, but the problem recurs randomly. Ford tech came and did lots of stuff and changed out parts after Lemon Law invoked but problem persists.

Five times this truck has been in for the same problem. Florida Lemon Law says only 3 required....

Now I have to go to arbitration because Ford refuses to replace or compensate at a reasonable level. The offered a $5000 payment a few weeks ago, but when I asked the terms of acceptance, they disappeared. This time they offered a "whole monthly payment" as compensation. Woohoo!!! I can take that one to the bank. NOT!! Arbitration on the 11th....

Updates to follow.

Going about thirty miles an hour in a fifty five zone behind a slow truck I pulled out to pass, when the tachometer hit about 5k the truck lost most of it's power was running rough and I just made it by the truck I was passing. this is the third time this f150 v6 has done this to me. It's becoming a trend and dangerous.

No sure what the issue is. I have had it occur 3 or 4 times now. Soon after i start up, back out of the spot, shift into first and start to drive away, there seems to be a lack of power. I am not accelerating hard, just softly accelerating. But there is no power or it does not want to rev up. This lasts for a few seconds and then it passes. This is no a traction control issue.

I have not discussed with the dealer yet.

Update from Mar 25, 2015: Went to the dealer for regular service and told them about the problem. They updated the software, I believe it was the transmission software and that fixed the problem. That was 20,000+ kilometres ago and no problem since.
