While driving to work the low brake fluid light came on. Fortunately I still had brakes at that time, but when I came out after work to start the truck, the brake pedal went to the floor. I filled the master cylinder with brake fluid and still no brakes. Had truck towed to dealer.

Dealer determined the master cylinder and brake booster were bad. Not covered under power train warranty. The only warranty I still have since over 36,000 miles on vehicle. Service rep said it would take a while to get the parts because they are on nationwide back order. That tells me that there are major problems if they are on nation wide back order.

This is a problem that could kill people. Had I been driving through the mountains like I planned to be in a few days then this would have disastrous. Why has Ford not had a recall on the brake system??? I bought this truck new in December 2013, so I have only owned it for 1 1/2 years. Brakes should never fail completely on cars made today. These repairs should not be at my expense. I will be scared to drive my truck when I get it back and I'm not sure what truck to buy next. Scared to buy a Ford now.

Ford F150 2013, bought in 2014, 13,000 miles. No warning! Wife backing out of driveway..no brakes! No warning, no dash lights. children under age of 6 in vehicle...she panicked..threw into park...(maybe emergency brakes would have worked better?) Damage to F150...damage to Son in laws vehicle. Ford admits defect in Mastercylinder..but have to turn in report to "Legal Division" to see if they will pay for damages. Meantime...filed with State Farm Auto...$1000 on comprehensive...$1000 on collision. Notified State Farm there is a defect in Ford F 150 Mastercylinder. It will be interesting to see how this turns out! (Replaced Mastercylinder with "Same" part...that is known defective??)

Will trade in once repairs are made..No confidence in this defective part...could have been MUCH WORSE!!

MY SON WAS DRIVING ONE OF OUR COMPANY TRUCKS BACK TO OFFICE TO NIGHT, WHEN HE HAD TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WITH NO WARNING ALMOST SMASHED INTO A SEMI THAT WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN. THANK GOD HE SWITCHED LANES AND STARTED DROPPING GEARS ON SHIFTER . THIS IS UNHEARD OF IN MY 50 YEARS OF AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE RESTORING OLD CARS ETC..UNLESS IT WAS A SINGLE MASTER CYLINDER.

WE TOWED IT BACK TO OFFICE AND TAKING IT TO GARAGE IN MORNING PLUS CALLING FORD . I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. I WORK FOR ALL THE OIL COMPANIES UP HERE AND THE SAFETY DEPARTMENTS IN ALL OF THEM (MOSTLY AMERICAN NOW) ARE VERY SERIOUS ABOUT A ISSUE LIKE THIS WHICH I WILL BE SUBMITTING TO THEM ALL WHICH IS POSTED ACROSS NORTH AMERICA AS A HAZARD AND SAFETY ALERT. THIS WAS A NEAR MISS.

On September 24, 2014, my wife was backing the truck out of the garage and the brake pedal went to the floor without stopping the vehicle. She applied the parking brake to stop the truck. Truck was towed to selling dealer for repair. Dealer reported that the Master Brake Cylinder failed.

One item of note was that there were NO warning indicators on the dash or computer!!!!!

My 2013 f150 had a total brake failure coming out of the garage. I am so blessed I wasn't on a freeway and killed a family or multiple families with this brakeless truck. I had it towed to Bob Tomas Ford in McKinney to fix the issue. The service guy was very nice and honest, but said the part is on back order and it will take a week to get it. I asked why it was on back order, is there an issue with the part and he said, that could be the issue. I said I do not want the same part put back in that appears to have an issue, and that I want a letter from Ford saying that the replacement part will not fail like the last one, they would not do it. The part that failed is the booster pump and there are many complaints on the internet for this problem and the waiting and back log issue also being an issue.

I escalated the issue to corporate and asked them to write a letter or buy my truck back, they said they will not. I asked for the Regional VP's name and number to discuss the situation and she said ford does not allow her to give me their name or number.

The brakes should not fail 100% they should have a front and rear isolation, enabeling one to stop. The brake design/booster pump/master cylinder combination appears to be flawed and can kill many people. However, profit over safety appears to be in practice at ford....

Ford has really disappointed me 100%, very sad! I initally chose ford because they did not take the bailout, but maybe they should have....sad, sad, sad!!!

Luckily i avoided an accident, and took the vehicle to the Ford Service center on my own. Its going to take 4 days to fix as the necessary parts are in another state. My family has purchased four Ford vehicles in the last 4 years. i was really hoping Ford would have supplied a rental vehicle because of the severity of situation and how bad it could have been, but no way, the service manager was adamant and straight forward about it, mainly because i don't have the extended warranty, really?. i could have had them tow the vehicle to the dealership, but instead took the risk and brought it to them, never again. And its not my fault the part they need is in another state, but im paying the price. Unfortunately im going to have to consider another make of vehicle in my next purchase.
