  • 62,000 miles
Driving in heavy 5 lane traffic at about 50-55 miles an hour, in the 3rd lane from the right on I580 East. I accelerated to get into the express lane and when I was starting to merge suddenly there was no power. It didn't matter how much I pressed the gas pedal it had no power. The engine was still running. I had to quickly signal and coasted to the shoulder of the freeway. There was a wrench icon on the dash and a warning that the truck was stuck in 4X4. I turned off the engine and after reading the manual, I started the truck and all seemed fine until I tried to merge again and again no power from the gas pedal. I had the truck towed to a Ford dealer.

Entering the interstate and vehicle started to shuttere/shake and completely lost power any kind of power to the engine. The acceleratior wouldn't do anything. Warning light, an orange wrench appeared on the dash display. Vehicle would only coast but did not die. Was almost struck by a vehicle traveling at interstate speeds as vehicle wouldn't pull over fast enough. Vehicle decelerated really fast and it was terrifying watching a vehicle approached me and my child at interstate speed. Narrowly escaped disaster. Vehicle sat on side of road for about 30 seconds and power returned to vehicle.

I have a 2014 F-150 3.5L ecoboost truck.... it has approximately 72,000 miles that are mainly long haul and not short around town stop/start miles. My understanding is this does not qualify for repair under warranty. I have recently experienced a total loss of engine power without any warning. If I turn off the engine and restart then it will go back to full power for a short period of time and then cut out again. This is no fun making a right hand turn in rush hour traffic in the city... very dangerous in fact. This has occurred whilst driving on the highway, driving around the city and sometimes going up a hill. I am not a vehicle expert and do not know what is the cause. I visited Ford and even they were not sure. I will visit another dealer to see if I can get better information. My concern is about driving across town in heavy traffic and having the vehicle cut out on me again.

3.5 eco boost engine runs rough at times and when passing at highway speeds sometimes goes into "safe mode" and shuts down to idle when under full acceleration. Mileage is constantly going down, from 22mpg to 13mpg. Dealer says this is new to them.the dealer said they found tracks on the spark plugs and changed them, new plug wires were supposedly bad, replaced both turbos. Still no difference.I have a video of this happening with the eng check light coming on and after the dealer said there was no indication of this in obd2 memory.

Two times when on an expressway at highway speeds during a rain storm I have had my engine lose power and the check engine light came on. Both times after slowing down the engine regain power and I could continue my journey. I have the 3.5 turbo engine and noticed online that this complaint has been mentioned by others. I did bring up my concerns to my Ford dealer and they claim to have no knowledge of any similar complaint with this engine. Any information or help I can receive from you would be greatly appreciated.

This has truck has a shudder or vibration from starting out from 1 to 10 miles an hour and additionally when passing and driving on the highway. There is also an acceleration delay at all speeds. This truck is equipped with the 3.5L eco boost engine. These issues are especially more noticeable when there is a load on the truck such as a topper and luggage, etc.

As I was passing a truck the engine cut out, lost power the tach dropped from 4000 RPM to below 1000 and the engine shuddered violently. This has happened before and the dealer keeps telling me everything is working correctly. This time I took video of the instruments to prove it. The engine check light flashed all the time this was happening and then went out when the engine began operating properly.this starts after you try to pass a vehicle and it puts you in a dangerous position of being in the passing area and have no power to get by, this could lead to a major problem. I am a certified accident investigator and have been a police officer for 45 years. I am also a master mechanic, this has to be corrected by Ford soon.

As I accelerate, the truck seems to going into neutral for about three seconds. Then it reengages and jerks violently. I have taken the truck to the dealership twice. The first time, they reprogrammed it but didn't repair the issue. This last time, the technician told me to pick up M truck because they couldn't recreate the issue I was experiencing. Another technician stated it was the eco-boost but that Ford was side stepping the issue because they couldn't find how to fix it. This is a safety issue because last time this occurred, I was changing lanes on interstate 10 and almost caused an accident.

3.5 eco boost engine has a dead spot in it. Mash on the gas pedal and doesn't do anything, then sprints off. It has done this several times. Also there is a small roar at times coming from left side of engine when accelerating. The sprinting will occur other times when accelerating. Haven't taken it back to dealer but I'm going to.

2014 F150 ecoboost in service for 9 months. After driving 4-5 hrs in moderate rain, 35-40 degrees, during acceleration to enter interstate, engine stumbled badly with flashing check engine light. I was concerned of being rear-ended by traffic behind me. After a mile or two the flashing check engine light went out. The truck responded normally for about two hundred miles after this incident. Am on a trip and 1500 miles from home so have not yet taken the truck a dealer. This report is during mid-trip.

Once more this truck has lunged without notice!! with the truck in my garage I pushed the button (inside the truck) to open the garage door, started the truck and as soon as I put in in reverse it lunged backwards just catching/hitting the bottom of the garage door as it was going up, some scuffs on the trucks tailgate trim and it bent the lower garage door panel and knocked it off the track. Ford has done squat to fix this issue along with other major issues this truck has from day one!! NHTSA please look into these issues!!
