F-150

  • 93,875 miles
I was driving my 2015 F-150 on a city street at 35 mph when suddenly my truck lost all acceleration power and began to shake violently. The engine continued to shake and sputter as I brought the vehicle to a stop. The service engine light came on along with two codes to 'service advancetrac' and 'hill decent control fault'. I turned the vehicle off, then restarted. It seemed to take longer to crank, but it started and I proceeded down the road. Each time the vehicle would reach 35 mph the same sequence would occur with the vehicle shaking violently and losing all acceleration power along with the service codes flashing. I researched my problem and read story after story on the internet of others who owned 2015 F-150's with the same exact issue happening. I even found a recall Ford issued: 16B32 for a defective throttle body, but was told at my local Ford service center that although the identical thing happened with others, my truck was not listed under that recall. I had to pay $500 out of pocket for them to replace my defective throttle body plus labor costs. This seems to be a common issue with these 2015 trucks. I would like to see something done to include more trucks like mine with similar issues into that recall. I should not have been responsible for paying almost $500 to get this problem fixed. I'm just glad I wasn't on the highway or pulling my camper trailer. It's just a matter of time before someone is killed or badly injured because of this problem! please do something about it before this happens!

On adaptive cruise control, since new, the vehicle brakes are applied when passing an 18 wheel truck/trailer (sometimes) causing a rapid 15-20 mph hard braking decrease in speed jolting and scaring the occupants of the Ford. Nearly rear ended several times. Have contacted Ford but they did not care nor were they concerned that this is a safety issue. Very dangerous going from 65 to 45 while passing another vehicle and cars are behind me. This is a random occurrence making it even more scary. This has happened too many times to count since 2015 and I am afraid to use the adaptive cruise control for fear of being hit from behind on the highway.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 50 mph with the cruise control activated, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal however, the vehicle was difficult to stop. The contact stated after driving over a bump in the road, the contact was able to turn the steering wheel and depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle on the side of the road. The contact stated the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving to his destination. After driving 30 miles, the air bag warning light turned off independently. The contact stated while exiting the vehicle he started to smell electrical fumes. The vehicle was taken to joe hall Ford located at 1617 21st St, lewiston, id 83501, (208) 746-2391, and the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

While driving on highway at 55 mph (6th gear), vehicle suddenly downshifted to 1st gear. The engine's rpms revved as the vehicle began to decelerate hard, resulting in the passengers experiencing a sudden jerk of their neck and body. The accelerator pedal had no response. After approximately 5 seconds I regained response from the accelerator and the vehicle began to upshift. A few moments later, the whole experience repeated with the vehicle downshifting to 1st. This repeated a third time. The incident caused several near-misses as we lost power at highway speed and began a rapid deceleration without notice.

The contact's husband owned a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that her husband had exited her vehicle to park his Ford F-150 into their driveway. Upon start of the vehicle, the contact's husband lost complete control of the vehicle and clipped the side of her vehicle and crashed into a retainer wall. The contact's husband stated that the vehicle independently took off as the brakes failed to operate while being depressed. The contact was unaware if any warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The air bags failed to deploy upon impact. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact's husband was covered in blood and the contact had a knot on the back of her head while in her vehicle. The contact immediately cleaned off her husband for cuts on both his legs and arms. The contact's husband was later treated at a hospital for a broken back and ribs. A police report was filed as a result of the accident. The vehicle was towed to fiesta Ford, Inc.(78990 varner rd, indio, ca 92203) where the vehicle was deemed totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they offered no assistance with the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20V332000(service brakes, hydraulic); however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Less than 5 years old and only 82,000 miles on my 2015 F150, the vehicle is inoperable because of an electrical issue between the gas pedal and throttle body. This has left me stranded on the side of the road with my 6 week old baby in the back seat. Doing research, it appears to be a known issue with 2015 F150S and is causing major safety concerns, but yet no recall. When driving, the vehicle suddenly loses power and slows to a complete stop on the road. Warning lights illuminate the dash and vehicle is inoperable, leaving us on the side of the road.

While driving my 2015 Ford F150 on a city street at 45 miles per hour the vehicle lost acceleration, rmp dropped to barely 2 and hill assist disabled light came on. Glided to a red light, put the vehicle in neutral, came to a stop and kept the gas lightly pressed hoping to keep power to the engine. When lighted turned green put truck back into drive and acceleration returned. Parked at my place of business. Shut the truck off but the brake lights stayed on. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership because of concern to drive it after losing acceleration (tow truck driver call the vehicle in limp mode). The dealership found not fault codes but did find plastic pieces on the floor board. Dealership said it was a "broken brake pedal" - a small plastic disc (grommet) inside the brake assembly broke into pieces causing loss F acceleration, the electronic messaging system to disable hill assist and the brake lights to remain on. Dealership said they have seen this in Ford Fusion but not in an F150. The new brake assembly is a total redesign from the the one that the vehicle was built with. The image on the left is the broken brake assemble (the finger is pointing to the damaged item), the part on the right where you will see the small white disc (grommet) is the replacement brake assembly. I purchased the vehicle new in 2015 and have been the only owner. My vehicle has 54K miles, is driven locally, not used to tow or off road and is garaged when not in use. A vehicle loosing acceleration while driving is a major safely concern and I hope this will be investigated as it is a known issue in other Ford vehicles.

On July 24, 2020 while driving on interstate 291 driving 45-50mph with heavy traffic, with absolutely no warning there was a loud explosion. I thought I was rear ended. Simultaneously the rear tires locked up while approaching a work zone. I skidded uncontrollably for approximately 100 feet. Ultimately came to rest on the shoulder. As my family and I exited the vehicle there was heavy smoke coming from the rear and underside of the vehicle. We thought the vehicle was on fire. The state police arrived on the scene within 5 minutes upon us exiting the vehicle. The transmission wouldn't go into gear so the vehicle had to be flat bedded to the nearest dealership, marcotte Ford, holyoke MA. Was told by the dealership the rear end failed and locked up. Upon their test drive I was told there was a total failure with the transmission. They said they had to wait for a decision from Ford to either rebuild or replace the transmission. August 19, 2020 I was notified that the transmission was rebuilt and that I could pick up the vehicle. I did not receive any prior phone calls from them to inform me of what was going to be done to correct the situation..

This vehicle experiences exactly the same characteristics as the following NHTSA campaign number: 15V614000 yet is not subject to the recall. The vehicle has acted in this way at least 10 times, the most recent on June 24, 2020. The vehicle may fall just outside the previously determined manufacture date window that determined the recall pool. Ford will not perform the software update to solve this problem as the vehicle is not subject to the recall. Please reconsider the vehicles included in this recall as mine may have been missed in error. I own a 2015 Ford F150. I was driving at 60 mph, the vehicle abruptly decelerated. The wrench and limp mode warning lights illuminated while the failure code P2112 occurred. I had to coast my vehicle on to the road shoulder and restart the engine. I had to stop and restart numerous times before I could make it home, off of a busy highway. When it stalled on me the next day, I had the vehicle towed to the dealer and paid for a diagnostic that located a failure code at the throttle body.

Driving down the road today being mindful of the speed limit since I just got a speeding ticket two weeks prior. I looked at the speedometer and it read 62. I know the difference I speed variation just from driver feeling and experience. Well I applied the brakes and the speedometer did not move. When I reached my destination I put the car in park and noticed my speedometer was frozen at 40 mph. So now according to the trucks brain 40 mph = 0 mph

While accelerating the vehicle to get to 55 mph the engine suddenly lost throttle response and began to run rough. Simultaneously the dash flashed that uphill assist was deactivated and flashed the maintenance wrench. Upon pulling the vehicle over and shutting it off and restarting it the vehicle ran normally. The frequency of this increased from once every couple of weeks to now up to 5 times in 10 miles. When it causes an obd code it is P2112. It occurs most frequently while accelerating to highway speeds but has also occurred while at highway speed and accelerating to village speeds of 30 mph. It has even occurred once while using cruise control as the vehicle was climbing a hill. At this time it is unknown what is causing the fault. An attempt has been made to clean the throttle body and the problem persists. A new throttle body is on order but has to be installed yet to see if it corrects the issue.

I picked up my 2015 Ford F150 on Thursday of last week because the master cylinder was leaking and caused my wife to lose her brakes while driving on the highway. I drove my truck to our family reunion about an hour and half away on Saturday which was 2 days after I had picked my truck up and the cruise control would not shut off by taping the brake. My wife and I were traveling on a highway and I was in the slow lane with the cruise set at 72mph. I was approaching the vehicle in front of me, so I looked in my left mirror and noticed a car coming up beside me. I was unable to pass, so I touched the brakes to disengage the cruise control and I looked back in my mirror again to see if the car beside me was going to pass me soon. My wife then said what are you doing? I told her I am going to pass this car in front of us after the car beside me passed us. She then said well you better slow down because you are about to hit the car in front of us. Here my cruise control never disengaged so I touched the brakes 2 more times and nothing happened. I finally had to slam on the breaks and it finally disengaged. I had almost rear ended the car in front of us. I then got into the fast lane and placed the cruise control on again and found out that I was unable to disengage the cruise control by tapping the brakes like you should. I had to push the brake pedal 2/3 of the way to the floor which at this point you are stopping on the highway. This is the third safety issue in less than 1 year that almost caused an accident and that it has been towed to Ford. My truck is currently at Ford. Dec 2018 throttle body went bad and shut off with my wife driving my truck, Sept 2019 master cylinder went bad and caused my wife to lose the brakes while on the highway, and Sept 2019 cruise control not working properly almost causing an accident.

Alert - alert I wrote before about trouble with the 2015 Ford F150 stalling out while driving. I mechanic took ours out for a test drive and it did the same for him on the interstate. Please have someone address this issue before someone dies or has severe injuries due to vehicle stalling at random and for no apparent reason. I am just glad he wasn't passing on a 2 lane road or pulling a trailer. I can't believe Ford has not addressed this - it's on you tube. This is the opposite of speeding up - imagine you have your kids, etc in the truck, in the middle of a major interstate with cars all around you and you stall out completely. Please, please do something about this. It only happens in motion.

Randomly the hill start assist control error would come up. Additionally, service advance trac error would come up and the truck would go into some sort of limp mode with no acceleration allowed. Finally, the truck started running really rough. All these things would happen while I was in motion and or turning. I have been broken down on the side of the highway 4 separate times now. Everything is really random and can't be replicated. It's done this about 10 times now and the dealer has no idea how to fix it. My truck has been there for over a week with no remedy.
