Attempting to accelerate, no power. Vehicle was on 2 lane highway with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. I was going approx 70 mph. I had our toddler, new born and wife in then vehicle. Vehicle slowed faster than I have ever felt before. Cars and trailers slamming on brakes. I'm assuming this did not trigger my brake lights and it was almost dark. So incredibly dangerous not to mention scary. Dash warnings indicated no traction control, hill decent or ABS. Dealer is replacing the throttle body. This was a catastrophic and dangerous flaw.

First time inwas driving in town, flat road no hills going about 35 on a turn, when my truck just stopped accelerating abruptly and was barely creeping along..multiple warning lights starting with hill assist came on. I got to side of road shut truck off and restarted indicators came back, so I started again to take to brother in laws house and it happened again. Called dealer they said take it out see if check engine lights come on. I take off on highway got to about 45 accelerating to 55 and again is just stops abruptly, lights flash again, I have no power no acceleration, only this time I have traffic near me a semi almost took me out because there is no warning when it happens. Check engine ligh comes on. My brother in law notice the temp gauge stayed cold and transmission temp was low, also I wasn't pulling anything at the time so transmission wasn't hot. I baught truck used less than a yr ago and have just over 40K miles on it. I have only pulled a popup camper with it so far. Noticed this seems to be a known problem for this truck. Will be contacting dealer today. I have included photos of warning flights that pop up.

Hill descent control fault/ service advancetrac warning suddenly turned on. Alternated w service light. But I was just driving home from work on a 70 degree day on a dry paved road decelerating from a 40mph zone to a 30 mph zone up a slight incline. I wasn't using hill descent and traction was fine. The disturbing part was the vehicle suddenly ran rough and had no power. I could not get it to run well enough pull it over out of the traffic lane. An on off cycle returned function for a few seconds and I got around the corner before the fault occurred again. With no hills the last block I got to my driveway where a longer off period returned the vehicle to function. This type of sudden power loss could cause an accident.

  • 52,000 miles
The wrench light first came on around 42,000 miles, but would shut off when the vehicle would be turned off. It came on a second and third time around the 50,000 and 51,750 miles. Sometimes it would come back on when driving again and sometimes not. Then the engine light came on at about 52,000 miles. When this came on, it would stay on. The truck would seem to lose a lot of power and the RPM's would begin revving higher while driving. This would be driving on all road conditions, highway or city, up and down hills. We had the truck in to check and the code it provided was 'dtc S-P0741 torque convertor clutch solenoid circuit performance stuck off. Will have to replace tcc and if condition still exists, replace the main valve body.' The first Ford dealer (while on vacation) made the repair, but this did not repair the truck. (the wrench light came back on again 131 miles after the repair and the engine light came back on again 40 miles later of the wrench light warning.) took the truck back to the Ford dealer we purchased the truck at and they are still trying to determine the cause to the issue. The first time the wrench light came on, was under normal driving conditions and not towing a camper. All the remaining times the wrench and engine light came on was while towing a camper. (not sure if this is possible cause of the issue or not, but feel it is worth noting.) according to the owner's manual, the auto start/stop feature is to automatically disable when a camper is hooked up to the truck. But this never seemed to automatically disable when we were hooked up to the truck. Another issue is when starting the truck up from a cold start it would make a rattling noise. This only happens from cold starts. If the truck had been runner awhile, shut off and then restarted, it did not make the noise. Ford is still trying to determine what could be causing this.

61,881 miles, numerous advancetrac, hill descent, etc. Warning and check engine lights. Stall suddenly in middle lane of traffic at speed of 40 mph. Almost caused rear end collision. Loss of all power, barely able to drift to shoulder. Serious safety issue! research has revealed this is pattern problem in this model and previous versions.

When first turn the truck on and it's cold, the transmission will slip out of first gear into third and then into fifth. When you stop, the transmission slams back into first gear and jerks until it gets into second gear. Only does when the teuck is cold typically. The truck has been to the dealer four times to get repaired for this issue. I'm told that it's a programming issue each time. After the programming is reset, the transmission will function correctly for a few days and then the issue will start happening again.

As I was driving down a major interstate I94 while changing lanes my 2016 F150 3.5 ecoboost entered limp mode in front of a semi I just recently passed. The semi had to slam on his brakes and I had to swerve to the side of the road to avoid a collision. The service advancetrac and wrench/service light was lit up on the dash. The vehicle would not move. The truck ran but when the gas pedal was pressed the engine sputtered and wouldnt move.

Sudden loss of power, did not stall, no engine light, in the span of 1/2 mile did it 3 times, pulled off road each time and let idle in neutralthen took off again. Then it went 2 miles ok, stopped for 2hours, back on road again at appiroximately 1 mile loss power again, I did same as above it di it twice more within 1/2 mile again, then it was ok for 1 1/2 miles then did again on a really bad curve, then I drove another 2 miles to my home and called 800 # to Ford, they tow truck pick it up took to my dealer, they had a week could not find anything wrong, they put approximately 50+ miles on it, no problem drove normally, called me to pick it up no way tell what was wrong without a code, drive till it happens again and call us, I said I'll call but if no code what happens then, no sense bringing back to you because no no can fix, no answer to that, give back the old days pre computer at least you could always fix those vehicles, with computer not even a clue. An they dare to put driverless cars on the road!! at the right time an location could cause a deadly accident!

We just took my 2016 F150 ecoboost to West Texas over thanksgiving. Towed under 7500 lbs. Towed completely normal the whole time (15 hours) until the return trip home. About 2.5 hours into my return trip (I was towing without my husband and with two young kids on a back highway with no cell service and absolutely no stops for 2 of those hours😯) I pulled over to see where my next gas station was and my truck died. It would restart but would die again. I finally figure I'm screwed, I'll try and just hit the gas and go. So I took off and blew through a stop sign and didn't stop until I reached a gas station, where it died when I stopped.. it was Saturday afternoon and all the repair shops were closed and there weren't any parts stores open. I finally unplugged the camper, thinking it was draining my battery and started it up and gassed it to get it going and didn't stop until I reached sonora and camped for the night, about 20 miles away. And then my truck was totally fine after that. I never hooked the camper back up and I had filled up the gas tank and put fuel injection cleaner into the tank and didn't have any more stalls. The only light that came on when it stalled was the battery light.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. While the vehicle was parked and unoccupied with the engine running, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. While the gear shifter was still in the park position, the vehicle crashed into the contact's boat. There were no injuries. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to move out of park. The contact powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and it operated normally. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

The transmission will not shift and will start to bog the vehicle down when going up a grade, stop and go traffic or pulling a light load. Steadily increasing the accelerator does not help the truck maintain or increase speed, only totally floor-boarding the accelerator allows the truck to speed up. The Ford dealer has checked the vehicle at least 3 times and said the computer could not find any thing wrong. The problem started with less than 6,000 miles on the truck and is not an issue unless in the previously mentioned situations. The problem has not happened when test driving at the dealership.

The vehicle hesitates, idles roughly when cold and makes a knocking type noise at idle when hot. The coolant level has gone down substantially despite having it serviced recently. We have experienced large amounts of water dripping from the tail pipe along with the occasional puff of thick smoke. The vehicle misfires and it has been verified by a scan tool (my own and Ford). Ford's technicians have verified the concern but have told us that without a hard fault, they are not able to look into the problem further. This issue has been brought to their attention several times with no resolution. While it may be related or unrelated, the transmission also jerks when slowing down and has a tendency to lurch forward when going from 3-2-1 gears. This has also been verified by Ford and they have made two attempts using tsb 16-0015 to resolve without any improvement.
