When driving the transmission will shift to different settings forcing the rear wheels to lock up and sending the truck into limp mode. The wrench light will appear for a short amount of time and the truck will go back to running like normal. I was told by the dealer the Transmission Lead Frame needs to be replaced and my vehicle is currently in the shop facing a $1500 repair. I had the power train control module replaced a few weeks ago because the truck had similar problems but not to the extreme of what I faced yesterday [XXX]. Faulty lead frame. Resulted in truck getting stuck in high gear while driving and after multiple occurrences the truck won't start. Transmission sensor malfunction has been confirmed by codes pulled. Very important safety issue that Ford has issued recalls on (just not my VIN) and also has known service bulletins on. Yet no one is fixing for customers or holding Ford responsible for this obviously known issue and ongoing failure.

On [XXX] while driving at Interstate speed of 70 MPH. Truck down shifted from 6th to 5th gear momentarily locking break brakes. Cross traffic light warning, blind spot warning, check engine light all illuminated at moment of downshift. The gear indicator light was no longer visible. The transmission position Drive, Neutral, Reverse etc. was no longer illuminated. Additionally, the climate controls loss lighting. The down shift was so violent, traffic had to swerve into the median to avoid rear end collision. After pulling to the shoulder, I turned the truck off. With the truck in the off position, I depressed the brake to efforts to restart the truck; however, the brake pedal was solid, and truck could not be restarted. You could only place truck into accessory mode. I disconnected the battery and waited 5 min and reconnected it. The truck then started and all dash alarms cleared. I cautiously drove home with no issue. On [XXX] I took the truck to Ford dealership Joe Cooper 600 W Memorial Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73114 (405) 475-9000. On the way to the Ford dealership the truck again down shifted unexpectedly. Knowing the truck would not restart I drove the truck in 5th gear at slow speed 25mph and the truck would not down shift lower that 5th. The Dealership was able to catch codes on a scan and told me it would be as early as 4/1 before they could investigate. The stated most of the time the reflash the system. This is unacceptable as a root cause. If the software is a fault and it can randomly become corrupt while drive at a random given date. This issue requires Ford to be held accountable. On 3/30 and I stood in shock when on CBS News a story came out that 2014 trucks are experiencing the same thing. I can prove my truck was in the shop and my story is documented from dealer prior to any news story. I hope my information drives further investigation and that it helps to save an accident or [XXX] a death. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Transmission will down shift to first while driving on highway. Code come up for transmission speed sensor short. Same as in the 2011 to 2013 models. That tab should be extended to later models. It is unsafe and could cause an accident/ death in high speed driving.

A common transmission failure on these trucks is the lead frame. My truck threw two codes related to the input speed sensor failing which resulted in $2,200 in repairs on a truck with 24,500 miles. This is a common issue that is unresolved and could cause accidents, injury, or death due to truck spontaneously going into limp mode.

While Driving at about 25 MPH Powertrain light (orange wrench) came on indicating an issue with the powertrain. Pulled off road and turned truck off and attempted to turn back on, truck would not turn back on. Disconnected battery and reconnected the battery and vehicle started with a check engine light. attempted to put truck into reverse/drive, vehicle would lunge either forwards or reverse and make loud clunking noise. when radiator fan turned on, power train light would turn on. when powertrain light was on, the indicator for "PRND' would not show which I was in. had vehicle towed to dealership. Dealer ship diagnosed vehicle with Lead Frame failure. The 6R80 transmission is known to have these issues and has had a recall for the 2011-2013 F150's with this transmission. Same transmission, same issues, only one recall.
