  • 35,000 miles
My 2014 F250 has recently had the condition described by numerous others as the Ford death wobble. The truck has 35,000 miles and this dangerous condition just started. The first occurrence was on 12/9/20. Second on 12/11/20. Third and fourth occurrence on 12/13/20. The first two times the shaking was extreme, nearly jerked the steering wheel from my hands and could have easily caused an accident. The last two were less extreme but I still needed to slow way down to stop the shaking. All four times this occurred I was driving on straight, paved, roadway and hit a small bump in the road. The small bump set the shaking in motion. Approximate speeds were 60, 70, 65 and 65 mph in order of occurrence. I was driving alone each time this happened so do not have any witnesses to this condition. However, as stated above, hundreds of others have reported this same condition with F250 and F350 trucks.

When driving approximately 58mph on city roads or interstate a slight vibration starts and turns into an uncontrollable wobble in front tires and steering wheel. No way to power thru the vibration you have to come to almost a complete stop at times for wobble to stop.

  • 40,000 miles
Truck violently starts shaking uncontrollably on highway at high speeds. This occurs if hit a bump in the road, pavement/groove changes, accelerating up to highway speeds to merge or getting on the brake at high speed on the highway. The "death wobble" is the experience I have been having and is now becoming way to common for the daily commute. This is happening on daily travel and when pulling a trailer loaded with horses. Purchased in 2016 with extremely low miles and the issue began showing in early 2017 and has since become more and more frequent and the safety of the vehicle is now uncertain every time I get in the vehicle.

  • 80,000 miles
My 2014 F250 has since around 80K miles had an uncontrollable wobble when at low highway speeds hitting even the smallest bump in the road. After multiple alignments and tire changes my dealer admitted that its known as "death wobble" and I need to do thousands of dollars in repairs that are very common. I am at 140K now and they finally admited that its a systemic problem

Several times now, when driving at speeds above 55, when I hit a very small bump in the road the truck starts shaking violently. It is to the point that, you can not control it until you stop. The problem does not happen every time driven, but it does occasionally. It feels completely unsafe to drive on the highway.

  • 184,000 miles
At approximately 181,000 this vehicle exhibited "sustained steering wheel oscillation" (aka death wobble). The vehicle was taken to a non-Ford ase certified mechanic and repaired per Ford tsb 18-2268, but did not correct the problem. Ford has claimed this vehicle is not on their list of vehicles subject to correction or mitigation. The only suspension modifications were aftermarket brakes and shocks (I.e. high quality components). The vehicle now has approximately 184,000 miles and still exhibits severe oscillations when traveling over a bump or rough surface, causing hazardous driving conditions and danger to other vehicles when a sudden slow-down or stop is needed to regain control of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph and after driving over a bump in the road the front end began to shake, vibrate and wobble causing the driver to lose control of the steering and crash into a ditch. During the incident no injuries were reported. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. The failure had also occurred on several other occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. The VIN was unavailable.

While driving at highway speeds, my truck experiences the "death wobble." If I hit a bump when traveling above 60 mph the front wheels wobble like a shopping cart and the front end shakes violently. The steering wheel shakes in my hands. These conditions continue until the vehicle is slowed down to 35-40 mph.

Multiple times before the occurrence yesterday, I would hit a bump and it would seem like the front of the truck would skip a little, replaced shocked and steering damper, 6 months later I hit a little bump going about 70 mph and the steering wheel started to shake vigorously and I almost lost control of the vehicle. This is very dangerous and needs to be addressed by Ford especially since the infamous death roll has been affecting these vehicles for over a decade.

F-250 8-cyl Diesel

  • 70,000 miles
My 2014 Ford F250 platinum diesel has exhibited death wobble on multiple occasions. I have experienced the issue at different speeds on the highway anywhere from 50 to 70 mph after hitting small bumps in the road. I have taken the truck to blaise alexander Ford on multiple occasions to address the issue. The first time they replaced steering stabilizer and it was worse after I got the truck back, the second time they replaced the tie rods and gave it a front brake job, got the truck back and it was even worse, the third time they replaced the steering gear box. Still no effect on the death wobble issue. I then drove the truck with their mechanic who told me it could be the shocks or the tires or maybe a spring or coil is broken. The truck is unsafe and Ford needs to figure out how to fix it. The truck only has 70,000 miles on it.

2014 F250 diesel experiences multiple 'death wobbles' while driving on highway at speeds over 60mph and passing over expansion joint on bridge or other like crevices. Felt like the front end was falling apart with violent front end shaking, had to slow down to 35 mph to regain control of the vehicle. Took truck to dealer and had to pay $150 for diagnosis. Ford claims all front end suspension parts need replacing as well as a front end alignment. The truck has just over 100K miles on it and is mostly highway miles. It's just out of an extended warranty and Ford estimates the repairs at over $1,300 with no guarantees that this will solve the problem. This is a design flaw by Ford. I've owned Ford trucks for many many years and have never experienced this in any of the past Super Duty's that I owned.

Driving at highway speed 65-70 mph on ca-99 on 11-30-2019 between bakersfield and fresno I experienced several "death wobbles." This vehicle was repaired for this problem at future Ford in sacramento, ca. On 03oct19 by replacing steering damper and track bar. Also an alignment was done. Evidently the problem still persists on certain occasions.

2014 Ford F250 VIN # [xxx]. the death wobble occurred 1st time on 11/3/19 with my son driving around 10:00 a.M. on 11/09/19 approximately 11:00 P.M with myself driving home. Went over a bridge that was just replaced this summer about 3 miles from home on St, rt. 729, sabina, Ohio 45169. About 1/2 from burristown rd. Which I turned to the right. I was slowing down for my turnoff and complete shaking of the truck. It has had a shake over bumps and bridges but nothing like the whole truck violently shaking. I have an appointment with bedford Ford in Washington C.H., 43160 on Wednesday 11/13/19 to replace all 4 tires and to look at the front end. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While vehicle is in motion, at approximately 60 mph vehicle begins to wobble violently. Truck is virtually uncontrollable until speed is reduced significantly. A quick google search identifies the problem as a worn out drag link. It also seems to be a common problem on many years of this vehicle.

When in motion at highway speeds (60mph +) my truck will violently shake and wobble if a small bump is hit. It looses steering control and is not even close to safe. You have to come to a stop to get the shaking and out of control wobble to stop.
