F-250

I have a 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.7L diesel. I started having this problem intermittently and only noticed it on hot days while at slow speeds, but it has continued to get worse to the point that it happened with every re-gen, at any outside temperature and almost any speed. It all starts with the notification on the screen of clearing the exhaust filter and has an ok in the corner of the screen. Not sure why the ok, since you have no choice on whether to start the process or not. During the re-gen process the engine suddenly and without any notification, looses power, starts to shake and shutter so violently that it shakes the whole truck. The only way to stop it is to put the throttle to the floor. If I let off the throttle it starts over again. The two safety concerns that it causes are the sudden loss of power and my truck suddenly slowing down without any brake lights to warn drivers behind me (I was almost rear-ended last time it happened in town) and secondly, having to keep the throttle on the floor to stop the problem and the speed the truck obtains when doing so. There are times when I cannot step on the throttle because of the speed limit, traffic or road conditions, and am forced to pull over if there is an area to so, if not I keep chugging along holding up traffic until I can. I have not pulled a trailer as of yet, but quite frankly an afraid to do so with this problem for fear of being rear-ended. It occurs at speeds from 30 to 70 mph. It has happened in town on rural roads and on the highway. It has been into Ford several times and they have not been able to fix the problem. The last time it was at Ford, the service manager told me Ford is aware of the problem and will be coming out with a software revision, but not until April of 2016. The truck is unsafe to drive until then.

2015 powerstroke 6.7 diesel engine has <15,000 miles. Hammering of engine at all speeds. Lasting less than 8-10 seconds in duration. According to tsb 15-0124 this is a valve and valve guide clearance issue that Ford appears well aware of. Recommending major engine work to possibly fix design flaws. The loss of power during operation is dangerous. Vehicle has been in the shop for this issue. Powerstroke forums across country showing this to be a major issue with the 2015 6.7 diesel engine with problems starting as early as 4,000 miles.

The vehicle runs rough, shakes violently and pings loudly when the diesel engine goes through the exhaust cleaning process. The vehicle loses power and requires 1-2 minutes to recover. The condition had occurred at various speeds but mainly when traveling 50-65 mph on multi lane highways.

I have noticed on several instances while traveling on the freeway between 60-70 mph when the truck goes into regen mode I get a loud valve clatter and a loss of engine power. This could be very dangerous.

Exhaust region caused extreme rough running engine and loss of power when towing up hill and passing a semi. This caused the semi to almost hit the back of my trailer. This continues to occur with every exhaust regeneration on the 6.7 powerstroke diesel.

When the vehicle is performing a regeneration, and you are going up an incline, the engine can shake and valve knocking can be violent accompanied by a loss of speed and power. The first violent incident that happened was going up a narrow mountain road and fortunately no one was injured. The vehicle has been taken to the Ford dealership and contacted Ford corporate multiple times and they are unable to correct the issue and unwilling to spend enough time to witness the issue themselves. The loss of power occurs unexpectedly and could cause someone to lose power while merging onto a highway which is unsafe or cause the vehicle behind you to rear end your vehicle when the power loss occurs going up hill.

At times while driving, the vehicle will begin to shake and lose power. The issue occurs during different driving conditions and has happened while merging on the highway. Ford service department was told there wouldn't be a fix until 3/1/2016. It's an issue with the PCM.

When the cleaning exhaust filter message comes on, the truck runs extremely rough and the engine gets a violent shake with loss of power. It also has a loud pinging sound. This lasts for about two minutes. The first occurrence was when merging on to the freeway with the sudden loss of power. I have had the truck in two dealers. Both state this is not normal but Ford has indicated it is and will not authorize work until something breaks. The odd part is that the computer reads that all is ok. The dealer states all is not ok but the issue is something the computer isn't tracking"?"

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle shook violently without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fourth and fifth cylinders were misfiring and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,200.
