F-250 8-cyl Diesel

  • 40,000 miles
My 2017 F-50 60,000 miles, experiences a severe wobble in the steering, noticeable when the vehicle encounters a small bump or small deformity in the road also when accelerating above 70 mph. The vehicle is well maintained and serviced on schedule. Have experienced the problem with and without towing a trailer. The wobble becomes extreme to the point of loosing control suddenly decelerating causes the wobble to stop and regain control.

  • 10,000 miles
While driving at speeds at or above 55 mph, when I strike a pot hole or expansion joint in the roadway, I experience the death wobble. The steering wheel and front end begin to violently shake, to the point where it is hard to keep a hold of the steering wheel. The only thing that seems to resolve it is stopping and starting again. This has happened multiple times and I've had it to the dealership for this specific problem but it continues to happen. The last it happened was 5/13/2020. I was driving on a state roadway and hit a pot hole and experienced the death wobble again.

2 issues the first is bump steering. If you hit a small bump on highway while steering left it will jump across the lane. Only does it in left turn in highway. The other is the death wobble. Mine did it when I hit an expansion joint at about 70 mph and did not stop until I was at 20 mph. I do not drive this truck over 63 mph now. The bump steering has been since new. The death wobble started at 32000 it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured from this as apparently it is a big problem in the newer trucks. Ford

Driving down the interstate hit a bump and the truck started to violently wobble. Speed was about 75 and had to slow down to 50 before it went away. Had to pull off to the shoulder while slowing down. Felt like the tire was coming off. There was a dampener replaced at the dealership before I purchased it. Told it was a recall but the problem is not fixed.

Vehicle will shake violently when traveling 50+ mph and it hits a bump in the roadway. The vehicle is uncontrollable and requires immediate deceleration until the shaking smoothes out enough to safely resume driving. When this happens while traveling on the interstate this poses an extreme risk of having or causing a motor vehicle collision.

Violent side to side shaking of the steering wheel, commonly known as "death wobble". violent shaking of the vehicle has probably caused damage to other parts of the vehicle. This happens at any speed above 70 mph while encountering a bump or patch in the road.

Purchased truck new in 2017, now after 30K miles when hitting a pothole at highway speeds the truck will shake violently. Why hasn't a recall be done (only a tsb). My local dealer where I purchased the truck has now replaced the steering damper per tsb 19-2392. Have not yet tested at highway speeds to verify this fixed the issue (homem quarantine due to coronavirus shelter in place.

2017 F250 6.2 gas, truck shakes badly at 65-70mph of if you hit bumps in the road at speed. Local Ford dealer said everything is ok even after I showed them the track bar end links were loose. The truck has 41,000 miles on it now but it has been going on since 30,000. The tech. Led on that they have had problems but, they did nothing but drive my truck for 8 miles. I would like to get the problem resolved because when it happens it is hard to keep control of the truck and im afraid it will cause and accident.

While driving on highway at approximately 65 mph vehicle begins to violently shake out of control. This seems to start when driving over a bump or bridge joint in the road. Steering wheel becomes difficult to hold and steering becomes near impossible. Slowing down does not seem to stop the vibration, had to pull over several times. Front end feels like it's going to come apart during this vibration. Very concerning.
