I just researched the violent shake of my front end that almost caused me to hit the vehicle next to me. I was driving about 60 mph and drove over a bump on the road and my steering wheel started to shake uncontrollable. I immediately stomped on the brakes to slow down as fast as I could. I was driving in the fast lane and slowed to about 20 mph before the shake stopped. I was lucky not to hit the vehicle next to me since the truck went right of center. The vehicle behind me almost rear ended me since I slowed down so quickly like you were giving someone a brake check behind you. I have owned this 2017 F250 less than a month. If I knew about the death wobble I would have never purchased this vehicle. I am now seriously concerned to drive this truck and now I can not allow my 17 yr old son drive it if needed. I can't believe there are over 1,200 complaints for the same issue and Ford has not done anything about the problem. This is my 6th Ford truck but first F250 and my last. I will most likely go to GMC or Dodge for a 2500 series truck. I travel for work and this problem really worries me to drive at 70/75 miles per hour on the freeway. I believe at the higher speeds it is a good chance loss of control will happen if the death wobble occurs. These trucks cost a lot of money and no one should ever have to drive a unsafe vehicle. If I could join the joint law suit against Ford I would. Maybe another group of F250 & F350 owners can start a class action suit as well against Ford. It will be a very sad day when we all find out a death has occurred and could have been prevented with a recall. If you google death wobble you will not purchase a F250 or F350. I really hope Ford takes care of this since I really like the look of the truck.

Sustained steering wheel oscillation failure after having tsb 19-2392 20th December 2019 executed 1 year ago. So just 1 year later the exact same failure occurred on the freeway at a speed of 73 mph, driving straight, and after hitting some road ruffage with the front left tire. Some loss of steering; once braking slowed the vehicle down to 45 mph problem cleared. Has not been back to Ford as of yet; but planning on calling the local dealership to discuss. Customer satisfaction program 20N04 & tsb 19-2392 states this is a one-time repair; well this is the second time. Very dangerous on the freeway at 73 mph!!

Running at 70 mph. Hit a bridge expansion joint. The vehicle started a front end oscillation that was extremely violent. I had to rapidly reduce speed and struggled with directional control. At 30 mph the oscillating quit. I was in the fast lane and traffic had to brake heavily and swerve around me to avoid collision. This happened again yesterday. Ford dealership says there are known issues, but parts required to correct the problem are back ordered and there is no known date to get the parts to fix the problem. This vehicle just hit 25K miles. This is a serious safety issue.

  • 39,000 miles
My vehicle's front tires started wobbling violently after going over bumps in the highway going speeds between 55mph and 80mph. These violent wobbles cause me to slam on my brakes and the wobble does not go away until I reached speeds between 20-30mph. The wobble jerks your steering wheel and shakes the entire truck and in some cases the wobble throws the vehicle into another lane and you do not have control of the vehicle until you reach the slower speeds. The wobble started after either 1. riding over a normal bump or slightly un level area of a highway 2. hitting small (less than 12" diameter) potholes on the highway, 3. going over train tracks on 2 lane roads.

Experiencing the "death wobble" multiple times - been in the shop 4 times and supposedly "fixed" yet it happens again within 30-100 miles after leaving the shop. One Ford dealership refused to take our truck back because they claimed they didn't know what to do to fix it. This is very dangerous and the title of the issue is valid. Does someone have to die before you fix this?

My truck only has about 42,000 miles and out of no were it started shaking real bad at highway speeds. As soon as a bump or bridge conection was hit the vibration of the vehicle would increase to a point were you have to slow down to almost a complete stop to be able to regain control of the vehicle again. Due to this I was inches away from hitting the center barrier on a freeway after nearly losing control of the vehicle completly. I had taken it to the dealership due to a small vibration and they replaced the steering dampener on the warranty and out of my pocket the steering drag link and it helped but was still getting a vibration and no more than a week later the same thing happened almost took me out of the road. Im not aure what is causing this but it has to get corrected.

  • 27,000 miles
March 2020 my Ford F-250sd with 27,000 miles began having the death wobble while driving on the highway in the steering requiring me to immediately slow down and pull off of the highway to stop and gain control of the steering. Ford replaced the steering damper with their recall, which lasted approximately 15,000 miles with the death wobble returning, with the same symptoms as before, while driving on the highway again. This time it required me to slow down and stop in the median area of the highway, which caused traffic to swerve away from hitting me. I went back to the Ford dealership and they said that Ford Motor Company would do nothing else to correct it. The death wobble has not been repaired on my truck which now has 40,000 miles on it and it is becoming more frequent.

Developed severe front end steering wobble (death wobble) at approximately 17,000 miles, August, 2020. Has occurred seven times since into the month of November, at speeds between 70 to 75 mph, on highways after hitting uneven road or potholes. Several times the incidents were severe with emergency braking in high speed traffic, with near crash, or accident. I have replaced steering stabilizer, and track bar with no improvement. I have not been to a Ford dealer, since they do not have a recall on this common occurrence, and do not have a permanent fix to the problem.

Driving on the highway between 70-75 mph and hit a bump in the road and the front end started shaking violently. This happened twice in one commute. From a quick google search it looks like a very large amount of people are having this same issue and from forum boards they are all asking why this hasn't become a safety recall issue yet? the truck will shake violently and the only way I can get it to stop shaking is come down to almost a complete stop. That's not easy or safe on a highway especially if you are in a left lane. I'd like every hot shot or big wig high up in the Ford industry to give that a try and then look me in the eye and tell me that's not a safety issue or shouldn't be a safety recall. Go for it, busy commute, fast lane, hit a bump, violently shaking, then coming safely to a stop. Not just unsafe for myself, but every other person within the vicinity of my truck. Lastly, I purchased this vehicle used this year with only 36K miles and now only has 48K which is hardly enough miles for any major wear and tear. Continuing on that, I was test driving another newer F250 (2019) and during the test drive it did the exact same thing. From what I'm gathering online, this is a major issue that has yet to be addressed and I fear will only be taking seriously when someone gets killed. Why" because I'm sure it's going to cost Ford a ton of money. $40K used truck for me a ton of money. But death" well, I guess that's a risk Ford is willing to take to save face. The 'death wobble' as its being called. The end.

We experienced the death wobble. It was repaired, and truck worked ok for 40,000 miles. Then the death wobble happened again. We had the truck repaired again. Is there no permanent fix for the death wobble? this is expensive and frightening. The death wobble happens while on interstate highways.

Truck shakes violently when at freeway speeds and you hit a bridge separator or a rough patch of road. You have to slow down to 25mph to get control back. Ford has repaired it 3 times with a new steering dampener in 6 months time. It has now happened again and I am afraid to drive the truck faster than 45 mph for fear of an accident.

I have experienced violent shacking of the steering wheel and entire truck. I had this issue present itself over 6 times since purchasing it in Sept. 2016. I purchased the truck brand new from a Ford dealership. First and second instance were in late 2017with less approximately 18K miles. All instances have happened while driving on interstate at 60 mph or higher. The steering wheel starts to shake and then continues to violently shake and the entire cab is shaking. Lose of steering control. Only stopped after forcibly slowing down truck to below 25 mile per hour causing possible collision with other vehicles or barriers. Have taken it to Ford dealership after the second instance and they say Ford is not acknowledging the issue and could do nothing about it. In may of 2020, the dealer did acknowledge that their was an issue and they replaced steering damper under warranty but after 4 months the issue came back more violently than before. On Oct. 28th, 2020, it occurred 4 times while driving within a 40 mile distance. This time the truck should so violently I had to almost come to a complete stop on the interstate to make it stop shacking. Road were wet and and in heavy traffic. I do not feel that it is safe to drive truck anymore while this issue present. I have re-contacted the dealership and mentioned the issue and service they performed back in may, they did not return call for assistance.

I was driving from twenty-nine palms ca. To las vegas nv. On the morning of the 27th of October 2020 at about 0530 in the morning it was very dark outside. I was on a 2 lane road. While driving along on amboy road, which runs thru the desert, at 55 mph I drove over some rough pavement and my right side front tire began to fluctuate violently back and forth. I immediately got off the gas while lightly touching the brake and letting truck slow down on its own. After it stopped shaking I continued to drive but was wary of it happening again. After doing some research I discovered that this what is called for lack of better words, the death wobble. I purchased my F250 in April 2017. Later in that year I had a similar experience while driving down the morongo grade in morongo ca. It was not as violent so I kind of dismissed it back then. But the other day on amboy road was different. I had my wife, my nephew and his new bride with me. Luckily there was no accident. My 3 and a half year old 2017 Ford F250 XLT 4X4 is in outstanding shape. Is the NHTSA and Ford doing anything about this or are we drivers and family's just expendable ?

Driving on interstate 69 at 70mph when I hit an overpass bridge. The rough pavement cause my truck to violently shake the tires and almost crashed into an 18 wheeler fuel truck. The shaking didn't go away until my speed dropped to 50mph. Serious defect that Ford is not finding the correct fix for. Ford has replaced the damper twice and the track bar. The shake came back 3 weeks after the last track bar replacement. The correct fix, I believe, is a caster adjustment at 3+ degrees. But Ford will not try the fix. It will cost me to do that and void the warranty.

I have had multiple instances of the 2017 Ford F250 platinum with 107,000 but in excellent shape and well maintained. While driving down the road it will shut shutdown for no reason.I have taken it in to the dealer and they said it was a problem in the right rear taillight. It did not fix the problem. This happens fairly regular. When it happens I get multiple error messages. Taillight system fault, blind spot system fault and then says see owners manuel. I am worried this may happen when towing a piece of equipment. I have request a Ford rep look at it if the service tech cannot figure the issue out.
