While traveling down the interstate at a speed of 70mph hit a bridge that was raised (rough bridge)causing the vehicle to violently shake (death wobble)...almost lost control of vehicle. Extremely terrifying. Could have killed my husband and I! after vehicle was dropped to a speed of approx 35-40 mph the truck straightened out.

Was traveling down the interstate and the truck started to shake violently and it took the steering wheel right out of my hands and I grabbed the wheel and slowed the vehicle down and tried to get to the right emergency lane, the shaking continued till I slowed to about 20mph and it stopped shaking, exiting of the road and checked my tires they had no issues, have had this truck 8 months and this has happened 6 times to me and my wife, my kids cannot drive this death trap please help before people get killed or kill someone

Over the past 5 months (it is now 1/30/2020) the entire front end of the vehicle shakes violently and uncontrollably at a high rate of speed, typically highway speeds, ranging anywhere from 50-80 mph. Although, it has happened at a speed of about 40-45. It happens out of nowhere with no apparent provocation, I.e., hitting a pothole, turning, hitting the brakes, etc. It usually happens when driving in a straight line and nothing seems to make it stop. I've tried hitting the brakes, slamming the brakes, continuing to hold my speed steady, accelerating slightly, and praying to god to make it stop. Nothing works, it just eventually stops but not before traffic clears all around me. It is noticeable from outside the vehicle as I have seen drivers hit the brakes and fall back in traffic around me. The violent shaking makes it difficult to keep the vehicle steady or in my lane of traffic. The violent shaking makes the vehicle bounce all over the road. It makes it impossible to hold the steering wheel steady or straight. It is terrifying and unnerving. I believe it is going to kill me or someone else. I haul trailers with heavy equipment almost daily. Many times I am on the highway or on city streets. If it continues to happen, the damage will be costly and may kill innocent people, including myself. I am afraid to think what will happen if these unexpected, violent shakes happen while I am hauling heavy equipment.

Returning from nashville to mandeville, la we hi it a bump in the road at 70 mph when the truck began volently vibrating. Similar to a blown tire. We had to pull off the highway for it to stop. It happened four times in less than an hour.

Vehicle is 100% factory equipment.no changes made to vehicle. Current odometer 23,750 miles. Have experienced "death wobble" 3 times always while traveling about 70 mph. Extremely unsafe. Typically it begins travelling about 70 mph and contacting an expansion joint in the road or some similar uneven pavement. Truck front end begins shaking uncontrollably until speed is reduced to about 50 mph. Have done extensive research and know this is alarmingly common on 2017-18-19 F250/350. I personally have 2 friends who own 2018 & 2019 F-250 and both have experienced the same "death wobble". dealer states the needed part to repair problem is on backorder. Also stated currently there are 43K of these components on B/O. these numbers make it extremely apparent Ford has a huge problem with potentially thousands of unsafe vehicles on the road. The defect usually begins at 15K to 25K miles. As these trucks reach that threshold it will only be a matter of time until someone is killed or severely injured. It is imperative that Ford issue a national recall on these model trucks.

My truck is currently at 21000 miles. I've experienced the 'death wobble' 4-5 times in the past but on a recent trip of only 250 miles, it occurred at least 10 times. Travel speed was between 60-70mph. Usually happened on county roads that aren't perfectly smooth, but even on fresh asphalt....one little bump can cause problems. I believe it has something to do with the steering and suspension linkage, vehicle weight or wheel alignment (probably all of the above).

Loss of control at speeds greater than 50 mph after running over a pothole or rough road surface. The front tires start to bounce or oscillate and steering becomes dangerously erratic. You have to immediately hit the brakes hard to lower the speed. Everything loose in the cabin can begins moving around and the steering wheel is hard to hold. If you are in heavy traffic at speeds of 60-70 mph there is very real danger of being hit from behind while trying to regain control of the vehicle. Descriptions online of Ford F250 trucks call it the death-wobble.

Driving truck on highway at about 73 mph. Steering wheel started shaking back and fourth badly, wobbling. Applied brakes and it settled down. It has done this several times. Also done at about 50 mph on newly asphalt highway. Apllied brakes and it settled down. I also had my tires balanced at two different tire shops that I deal with all the time. All this is drving straight on smooth asphault highway. Took to dealer and they said steering dampner (I think was the name) was bad. Replaced it and said they drove it and was ok. Truck had around 17,800 when it first did this. Truck still had a very very slight right to left shake.this was done on 9/20/2019, 18,257 miles. Did not have a "death wobble" again until 11/15/2019. It was horrible. On intersate fourty in Arkansas driving on straight road about 78mph around 8:00 at night.. did not feel any bump. Worse wobble I have had on my truck. The wobble did no stop until I got off interstate and stopped the truck. Scared me and my brother to death!!! did not do it again on way home, this is about 350 miles. Still has little shake to steering wheel that I said earlier. I don't know what would have happened if this had been my wife or grand daughter. This is a very very vsry serious problem. I called my dealer when and he said bring it back and try not to drive it over 70mph. This should not have anything to do woth it. I have videos of some of this, but not the last time

I was driving at 75 mph on interstate 10 heading to junction Texas. There was an area of highway construction and as I was coming off of this construction there was some uneven road and bumps. My front left tire started to shake, the steering wjheel started to shake and it progressively got so bad that the entire truck was shaking. I had to gently apply the brakes but unable to steer appropriately we veered into the median of I10. I had both my 3 and 6 year old in the truck. Had there been a median wall or traffic this likely would have been a serious accident. This same scenario happened 2 more times on our trip both at bridge interfaces.

I would have to hold to steering wheel tight and slow down to almost a complete stop before it corrects itself. We have read on an online forum to reference tsb #18-2268 when speaking to the dealership but it is apparently an issue with 2017-2019 Ford F-250S. I own a 2017 Ford F250 that I bought new and now has approximately 30,000 miles. In August 2019 I was driving with my wife and two young children at approx 60mph on a two lane highway. Road conditions were dry and I hit a slight frost heave on a straight stretch of highway. All of a sudden the vehicle started shaking violently and I have very little control. I was able to slow the vehicle down to approx. 25mph before the shaking stopped. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic or it could have resulted in a catastrophic head on collision. I have never experienced such violent shaking from a vehicle, it felt as if all four wheels were held on by a single lug nut and I had very little control. I called the dealer immediately and they schedule me for repairs. I later researched the issue and realized that this issue has a name "death wobble" and that it is common in Ford trucks. I have not experienced the issue since but I feel this is an extremely significant safety concern and I am honestly very concerned that it may happen again. If there would have been oncoming traffic or icy road conditions that day it could have resulted in a very tragic accident. I just learned of this site to report safety issues or else I would have done it much sooner. It appears that Ford has a design flaw that needs to be addressed and I cannot believe they continue to allow this to happen. I am fearful that it is going to take fatalities before this extreme safety issue is corrected.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. While driving 66 mph over a bump or ridges in the road, the front end violently vibrated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle needed to be stopped for the failure to completely go away. The vehicle was taken to stanley Ford brownfield (1708 lubbock rd, brownfield, tx 79316, (806) 637-3561) where the tires were balanced. Pollard friendly Ford company (3301 S loop 289, lubbock, tx 79423, (806) 797-3441) was contacted and informed the contact that the track bar steering damper caster shims were at the wrong angle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was 33,457.

I was traveling along I-40 going about 75 miles per hour around a slight curve to the left when I hit a small bump. The entire front end of my truck began to shake violently. The truck became very difficult to control as the steering wheel was ripped out of my hands. I pulled a muscle in my arm trying to regain control the first time it happened. The shaking went away as soon as I slowed down to about 68mph, and did not return as I accelerated further. This began happening on 11/12/2019 at approximately 38K miles. 40,000 miles death wobble uncontrollable shaking after driving over bride while driving on highway had to run off into the median and grass slowing down as quickly as possible. This is a deadly issue and known to Ford. Please take action before people are killed in these trucks. I contacted my local Ford dealer and there is no recall for this issue.
