Massive vibration/wobbling front end occurred on freeway 15 San Diego Dec., 28, 2021. Had to pull over and stop in the shoulder. Massive vibration/wobbling continued. Took into Ford Penske with mileage 39,304 on Jan 13, 2022: Ford Penske replaced steering damper. Unsure if the original factory installed damper is still available for inspection upon request at Penske? My wife and my safety and others on the 15 freeway were for sure put at risk. Then on Jan 28, 2022 the wobble and vibration returned while traveling from San Diego to Utah. I had to take the truck to Provo Larry Miller Ford and they replaced the tires which only had 35,000 on them and also replaced again the steering damper! This problem has been re-confirmed by the Ford Provo dealership. The check engine light also came on - Provo Ford diagnosed as a steering/suspension/vibration problem condition. I am now taking (Feb., 2022) to Off-Road Warehouse to have a much higher quality steering damper installed and 4 high quality shocks. Conclusion: the vibration/wobbling has caused extreme risk to my wife and me; this will be the 4th damper installed; caused pre-mature wear on the tires (they only lasted 35,000 miles - the tires cost $2,200). The new tires installed by Provo Ford cost - $1,279.80.

Whenever I hit a bump the front end starts wobbling. The steering wheel shakes. This has been known as the "death wobble". You have to come to a complete stop for it to quit. This can cause accidents as it happens at random times. It has happened on four different occasions thus far.

For the 2nd time in 14 months my truck experienced violent steering oscillation after driving over an expansion joint on a highway bridge at 65 MPH. My truck was repaired after the 1st occurrence by replacing the steering dampener, I'm currently waiting to get my truck into the dealership to address this issue again. It gives me pause to think of what would happen if i was towing my 5th wheel camper & this issue presented its self.

Death wobble at approximately 70 mph while cornering to the left and hitting a bump in the road. Front end started to violently shake and shaking was transferred to the steering wheel. I was able to pull to a stop on the side of the road. Got out and checked components on the front end to make sure no loose lug nuts or obvious tire problems. This has happened multiple times and the truck has less than 55,000 miles. All maintenance has been performed by the local Ford dealer at the recommended intervals. The truck is not modified in any way.

As I was driving this evening on a straight highway at highway speed, my front wheels started to violently shake uncontrollably. I had to apply the brakes to reduce my speed so that I could regain control of the truck. This is not the first time that this has happened but it was the most violent and uncontrollable event. From what information that I can find, this appears to be called the death wobble.

While traveling down an 8% grade hill, I applied my brakes to slow the vehicle and the sterring suddenly shook violently. I could not control the vehicle. I regained control after the vehcile slowed going back up a hill. This was terrifying for my family. I had to drive another five hours fearing this would happen again. I took it to a Ford dealer when I returned home and they installed a steering damper said to be able to prevent this in the future.

Hit a pot hole, at 65 mph with the front wheel. The hole truck started shacking violently, and I about loss control. I stood on the brakes, and vibrated into the emergency lane. The whole truck stopped shacking below 45 mph. And was fine coming back up to speed, until I hit another pot hole. Please watch YouTube ford death wobble, ford states there is no problem.

Since shortly after purchasing my brand new 2019 F350, I have periodically experienced "death wobble" when traveling over 55mph and hitting bumps. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and I must quickly slow down to less than 30mph to regain control of the truck. Ford has replaced the steering stabilizer twice. The second stabilizer was supposed to be the "fix" for this issue. Today it happened again while driving on a rural road at about 55mph. I almost lost control of the truck before I could get it slowed down. I drove it to the dealer and they replaced the steering stabilizer again, but this time I had to cover the cost.

The vehicle is experiencing a very violent shaking/wobble after hitting a bridge seam or railroad tracks at higher speeds. The violent shaking does not stop until speed is reduced significantly (<40-50 mph). This could be very dangerous in certain situations such as heavy traffic, in a curve, or while towing. The shaking is so violent it certainly puts significant stress on steering components and could eventually cause catastrophic failure and complete loss of steering and control at interstate speed. A brief internet search indicates there are numerous others with this same situation. This truck design has evidently had this issue for many model years. This type of issue should not be occurring to vehicles that are relatively new.

Over the past two weeks of travel - approximately 3000 miles - this F350 experienced a violent shimmy at highway speeds (cruising between 55 - 68mph - max) seven separate times, with the last 4 events occurring 11/9/2021 in immediate succession (within 10 minutes of each other) when leaving kingman AZ - heading West on I40. Each time this violent shimmy seemed to be precipitated by running over rough sections of road or bridge transitions, this violent shimmy could only be cleared by slowing to approximately 25 mph. The pickup truck was fully loaded, close to the gvwr. Internet research of this problem has led me to believe it is a known phenomena among Ford F350 & F250 owners called "death wobble". very dangerous situation, think about it, having to slow to 25 mph from freeway speeds attempting to get into either the slow lane or shoulder - eventually an accident will happen if this "death wobble" is not resolved. I've reported this situation to my jim burke Ford local dealer here in bakersfield ca (where I purchased the pickup) and have schedule investigation and hopefully repair on 6 December.

While driving 55 mph on a paved highway, I encountered a slight -??bump-?? in a curve. When I traveled over the bump, the steering wheel was yanked out of my hands with an excessive shaking as well as the bed of my truck was fishtailing in the curve that caused me to cross over into oncoming traffic. I took my truck to the dealership where I purchased it and according to the invoice, several components were replaced. It did well for about 3 months and is still an issue today, it seems to get worse as we go.

While driving the speed limit of 60 mph. I drove over a bump in the road. The steering wheel stared shaking back and forth violently. The truck was barely controllable and could have ended in a deadly crash. The truck shook until I slowed to 15 mph. After getting home and researching the problem I found this is known as the death wobble. I see why it is called that. This problem is going to take people-??s lives.

Severe and violent steering wheel oscillation after hitting bumps at highway speeds without warning. Multiple incidents beginning at 20,000 miles, steadily worsening with time. Ford replaced steering stabilizer but problem continues without improvement. Dealer confirms issue.

While towing my 5th wheel travel trailer east bound on I-40 from Albuquerque, NM on 8/23/21, the truck and trailer started shaking violently after hitting some small wash board bumps. Only by quickly slowing down from 65 mph to under 40 mph was the situation corrected. After the shaking stopped I sped back up to 65 mph and everything seemed to be normal. A few more miles down I-40 the shaking returned, again after hitting a short section of wash board. This time was more violent than the first, so I pulled over and did a walk around looking for any obvious defects on the tires, wheels and observable suspension components. I did not find any problems, so I continued with my trip to Lubbock, TX. the phenomenon did not occur again. I have not had the truck inspected by a mechanic yet. I have researched this problem and found out that it seems to be a fairly common occurrence on Ford Super Duty trucks with four wheel drive. Why hasn't there been a recall issued for this problem?
