2001 Ford Focus ignition cylinder broke, problems with the tire equipment, engine light illuminated and the sway bar bushing needs to be replaced. The ignition cylinder had been replaced three times. The steel belts were showing through the front tires at 54000 miles. The sensor which caused the engine light to illuminated was replaced three times. The front brakes were replaced twice. The battery, radiator, thermostat and fuel pump also failed.

While commuting home from work on interstate 95 South in the hov lanes my car began to lose power. At the time of the incident, I was traveling approximately 55 - 60 mph, and I noticed the car starting to slow down. I had two other passengers comuting with me, and had to pull over onto the shoulder lane before the car completely stopped. While the car was losing its driving power I immediately looked at my dash panel to see if any indicator lights were lit, and there was no indicator light to give me notice of what was going on with my vehicle. As I pulled over to the shoulder the vehicle eventually stalled and finally the entire dash panel lit up. I consider myself fortunate that my vehicle was not struck by another car due to the speed of other vehicles on the road. Contacted the seller dealer, and had my vehicle towed to sheehy Ford for diagnosis and repair. The service representative contacted me the following day and advised me that my fuel system needed maintenance, and my fuel pump had to be replaced. The service representative also informed me that my extended warranty had expired, and told me that needed reparis were not covered under warranty. Upon picking up my car after repairs were done, I reviewed the invoice and noticed that unauthrized work was performed in addition to the fuel system repair and fuel pump replacement. I immediately contacted the manager and disputed the extra charges. The manager did remove the additional charges. The total cost of this service was $261.20. On Apr 25,2005, I contacted Ford Motor Company to inquire about the service, and I was informed that services should have been covered under 03N01and therefore no serivce charges should have been charged to me. This recall maintenance covered parts and labor.

So many problems don't know where to start, ok lets talk about the doors. We bought the car new in 2001 and almost immediately started experiencing difficulties. The trunk wouldn't latch and the door light would be on or it would latch but wouldn't come open we complained to the dealer they would "adjust"it. However, the problem would be back in a day or two, and it was getting worse. The doors started to jam, and fly open while moving. Took it to the dealer and they told us to call Ford company complaint line and they said it was a mileage problem, and they explicitly said they would not help. We have called the dealer and the Ford Motor Co. Many times and they are no longer helping, even though the mechanic at the dealer said the doors had internal damage. Please understand this has been an on-going problem and the last time our 9 yr.old would have fallen out of the car had he not been wearing his seatbelt. Oh, yes then there is the seatbelts, brake lines, door knobs, brake rotors, fuel pump, wheel bearings the list goes on we have a lemon please contact us to help.

Car sputtered on a Sunday morning (11/2004). On Monday night the car died. Could turn ignition, but no fuel got to engine. Called Ford serice center, they were closed. Had problem fixed (new fuel pump) at another service station ($594). Found letter dated 1/2004 stating Ford was aware of faulty fuel pump, and was offering replacement coverage for 10 years. Have tried to get Ford to reimburse me, but they deny the claim, stating it was not an emergency.

I had received a notice that my car may need to have my fuel filter replaced due to possible hesitation; however, I was not to have this done unless the system failed. On my way home for thanksgiving, I was traveling on the interstate, and my car started to slow...I let off the gas, pressed on the gas, and frantically pumped the gas as cars passed me going 80 mph. When the system failed, I was out of state, 400 miles from home, sitting along side an interstate full of holiday traffic, but Ford does not consider this a safety concern.

Possible defect with clip/clamp on fuel pump. On Jan 20, 2004 the fuel pump was replaced per recall, the mileage at the time was 18446. On June 7, 2004 the clamp or hose from the fuel pump detached which resulted in the vehicle not starting. The consumer also saw a sizeable amount of fuel under the vehicle after she attempted to start the vehicle, mileage at that time was 20640. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who explained that the clamp must have became loose after the vehicle hit a pothole.

While driving my 2001 Ford Focus over a 6 lane suspension bridge from pa to NJ, my car started to act as if it was running out of gas. Car slowed without warning then died, this happened as a 18 wheel truck was baring down on me at a high rate of speed. Sitting as a dead duck the truck barely made it around me nearly causing a multi car accident. After restarting the car (barely keeping it running) I slowly made it to the top as it died again, I glided down the bridge in neutral, I pulled over at the end of the bridge and restarted the car again, this happened 3 times on the highway, each time having to pull over and restart the car.. I have had this problem about a year ago and had to fight Ford to replace the fuel pump, which seemed to solve the problem until now.. this time I almost got killed.. there is no warning when this happens! please do something about this before someone dies.
