Beginning in 2017, as I was on my way to work and stopped at a stop light on a city street, the light turned green and I pressed the gas pedal. After the RPM meter was passed "2" the car jerked back and slowed down for a few seconds then went back to the previous speed. This continuously happened every time I would press the gas petal to speed up for several days. I took the car in a mechanic shop and my car was no longer jerking back and they found nothing wrong; however, I have the documents from this mechanic stating what was happening at this time. At this time the vehicle was well under 100,000 miles. Again in 2018 I was on my way to work and the same thing began again. The car seemed to lose power for a few seconds every time I would speed up the vehicle. I took it to yet another mechanic shop where they found nothing wrong again. Soon after my car began acting normal again. Finally, in May 2019 the same issue began again. I would press the gas pedal and my car would start to go, then it would jerk back for a few seconds as if losing power, then gain power back and speed up. Also, several times in 2019 I would turn on the car, put the car in drive, press the gas pedal and the vehicle wouldn't move. It seemed to have no power. I then took the vehicle to a third mechanic and they informed of a transmission recall for my year and model car. I was unaware of this recall up until this point and I do not know the recall number. I was a college student and my mail was sent to my home address rather than my college address. This mechanic then rebuilt the vehicle's transmission for $3,000. The mechanic then sent my vehicle to a Ford dealership where they replaced the transmission control module for no cost.

I have had my vehicle in for tcm & clutch issues more than 7 times and continue to do so. I have a recorded conversation with the service manager telling me "the dual clutch is a bad design and will never really be fixed". when I leased the vehicle in 2014 I knew I was planning to purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease, so I chose the lease option with the lowest miles allowed. Just before the lease end date, the recall issues with the vehicle's tcm and dual clutch came into play. Although I would have liked to turn the lease vehicle in, I would have had to pay a great deal in mileage overage fees, so I followed through with the purchase of the vehicle (fall of 2017). I felt I really had no choice at that point. I now own a vehicle (still making payments with $8K remaining) with 96K miles on it that continues to have numerous issues with the transmission. I just want to be rid of the car and move on.

I purchased this car new and the transmission has had issues from day one. Transmission chatters, surges, and jumps out of gear and then bangs back in sitting still or driving. The vehicle only has 21K miles on it. They have done numerous updates to make them work properly and they still don't work. I am 61 years old and have been a car enthusiast my whole life and this is the most dangerous transmission I've ever owned. I had told Ford service 6 months after I owned it that this transmission should have never been put in a production car. Of course nobody cares, everybody got there money now. It's a shame people have to die to fix a problem that everyone that owns one and including Ford already knows exists.

Ford Focus SE 2014 dps6 transmission issues. Vehicle slipped into neutral in motion while ascending a hill at 65mph. This caused my vehicle to lose speed quickly which almost resulted in me getting rear-ended by a semi truck who was tailgating me. He proceeded to honk as he probably thought I got on my brakes. Transmission slipped into neutral in motion, while pulling out into a then clear intersection to get across a 4 lane highway. Almost resulting in me getting T-boned by oncoming traffic. Stopped to cross an intersection I waited for a clearing, I pressed the gas the vehicle proceeded very slowly into the intersection almost as if the transmission was lagging. This could have easily caused me to get T-boned while in the intersection.

Tcm recall purchased vehicle May 2016. Through 3 years of ownership, vehicle was taken to beach Ford approx. 3X for regular service including oil change and air filter. While vehicle was at beach Ford, I requested service department check the transmission/dual clutch mechanism due to noticeable stuttering while driving. At the time of receiving vehicle back, I was told that the transmission was fine each time. 7/3/2019 - I was on my way to work 30 miles away from my home. While making right hand turn, then accelerated vehicle jolted with check engine light being illuminated. Upon further acceleration, determined vehicle could not go above 25-30mph. Once parked to address unknown mechanical issue, attempted to reverse out of parking space and discovered vehicle had lost reverse. Contacted beach Ford explained the issue as well as explaining that the vehicle was 30 miles away from my home and not drivable. The service adviser stated that they did not have a tow truck and could not provide any assistance to have vehicle towed to the service center. 7 hrs later after going through my insurance company with roadside assistance, my vehicle was towed to beach Ford within minutes of the service dept closing. Due to July 4th holiday, my vehicle would not be looked at until 7/5/19. Received call approx. 4:30pm stating my vehicle was ready to be picked up. Cpv recall while vehicle was in service for tcm recall, I requested additional recall NHTSA 18V735 canister purge valve be address. Service advisor stated they would address and vehicle would be ready the following day 7/6/19. Received text 10:44am to pick up vehicle. Clutch still felt shaky. My car as most every other person I know with the "dps6" dual clutch transmission suffers from the jerking and shuddering when shifting. Slipped gears when at highway speeds and sometimes it catches when the RPM is high and literally lunges the car forward forcing me to slam my breaks to the floor. I am the 2nd owner of the vehicle and have had the transmission repaired once about a year ago and I am seeing the symptoms all come back with time. I purchased this vehicle thinking it would be safe for my 3 year old and I am reluctant to take it on the highway with her knowing the issue is ongoing and widespread, having all of the known issues myself and it continues after the "fix" has been performed. It has been widely reported that Ford knew internally about these issues and they refuse to step up and stand behind their vehicles. Https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/11/Ford-Focus-fiesta-dual-clutch-automatic-problems-before-after-production/ https://jalopnik.com/Ford-secretly-directed-dealers-to-fix-faulty-transmissi-1836559567 https://carbuzz.com/news/Ford-tried-to-hide-A-major-secret I am now on the hook for $9000 on a car that is unsafe and no course of action. Please do something about this!!!!

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving, the rpms became stuck and the vehicle failed to accelerate. In addition, while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the transmission warning indicator was illuminated, which indicated that the transmission was running hot. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and waited for a minutes without powering off the engine. The transmission indicator illuminated "transmission ready" and the contact was able to drive; however, the failure recurred. The contact called sunset Ford (11700 gravois rd, St, louis, mo 63127, (314) 843-4431) and scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.

There car has a tendency to slip out of gear in first and second gears. When you start to drive, the car acts like it does not want to move and then will suddenly sprint forward unexpectedly. Other times, the car will start to move as expected but it will be very jittery and jerky bouncing you around while it gets up to speed leading to unsafe operating conditions. This has been an ongoing and daily problem since purchasing the vehicle. Ford has said these are "normal" in conversations with my dealers and have not looked at the issue in detail

Transmission went out while on a road trip. Went to start the car and transmission issue alert came on the dash. I drove about a mile then could no longer accelerate and had to pull over. I could reverse but no acceleration in drive. Got it towed and the mechanic at the Ford dealership told me it was an issue with the transmission computer. It was covered under the manufacturer warranty but I'm still having issue with clutch slipping when accelerating from a stop. Causes jerking of the car sometimes and loud grinding noises.

Ever since we bought this vehicle it has lost power during acceleration, slips out of gear regularly, when stoped on an incline the vehicle will roll back approx 3ft before the transmission will catch almost hitting vehicles behind me. It has always had this terrible shudder coming out of 1st gear. This is an automatic dual clutch transmission. I will not let my children ride in this vehicle because I feel it is unsafe and it would not be ethically right to sell it to someone else.

Transmission (the dsp6) computer (transmission control module, or tcm) is prone to failure resulting in a car that cannot be driven reliably on roads without potentially falling into an unintentional neutral. On April 6th, upon starting the car up I was unable to reverse, and managed to limp to the dealer in low gear only. As at least one gear was known to be non-functional, I could not endanger myself or others on the road by attempting to shift gears further for concern of it failing completely or falling into neutral in traffic.
