Takata recall.engine stalls w/O notice, inside cab reeks of gas smell. Ford remedy is to keep gas tank 1/2 full. Doesn't work. Just filled up and still stalled while entering into the freeway. I did not use cheap fuel. Very dangerous and the remedy does not work. Took car to dealership twice now and they confirmed it's 1 of 10 Focus on the recall. In other words 10% of their Focus have this recall and symptoms. I called Ford Corp and they gave me 2 options, 1)drive car with 1/2 tank or more 2) don't drive it at all. I need it for work #2 is not an option. Ford will not give a loaner car even I told them their remedy is not working and can cause bodily injury or even death.

I received a letter from the manufacturer about a recall dealing with the clutch, I took my car to the Ford dealership just like the letter stated!well they refused to replace the part, stating my car didn't meet the requirements to be replaced! I left with the car still not fixed! that was 6 months ago, I just took it back to the dealership again, and of course they refusing to replace anything on it under the recall! so, I was told that my car warranty has expired, ( it was still under warranty when I first took it to them) now they trying to make me pay 2300 dollars to get it fixed! don't every buy a Ford!

This is a transmission problem as I've been told by Ford mechanics. When you push the accelerator their is vibration and hesitation when speeding up. Sometimes when you push the accelerator it's luck the car is in neutral for a couple seconds. It has been to Ford for this problem a couple of times. Apparently it's the only for car with an electric shifting transmission

At 37,000 miles experienced intermittent loss of transmission engagement. The transmission control module (tcm) required replacement, but also directly effected the wearing out of the transmission clutch assemble. The vehicle exhibited unsafe symptoms of intermittent loss of transmission power/ engagement while driving, at start from a light, pulling out into roadway. The two parts were replaced at that time by a Ford dealer. Now, at 64,000 miles the problem is reoccurring. The vehicle was taken once again to a Ford dealer and a claim to Ford Motor Company had to be initiated by the dealer for partial coverage. A $300 deposit had to be paid toward the $1,700 repair bill. In our household we also have a 2013 Ford Focus that had to be repaired three times now at approx. 75,000 miles. (reported separately). These issues are well known and documented, however, the lemon law or NHTSA has done nothing to help the consumer with making Ford liable for the full coverage of the transmission clutch assembly that is directly damaged and wore out because of the tcm defect. Ford has only extended a warranty on the tcm, which is a very inexpensive part of the problem.

I bought this car new in December 2014. Since I had no experience with this dual clutch transmission, I did not recognize the clutch was bad on test drive. It shuttered in first and second gear and shifted out of first gear in an unusual way. After about a year, I asked the dealer to check it out. The clutch was bad and replaced. It worked beautifully. A year later, I was back for a second new clutch. Now about a year later, I am back for a third clutch. The car only has 25,900 miles on it. The dealer has been great but I won't be able to keep this up after my extended warranty expires. The car has always been unpredictable with acceleration. Note to everyone, don't pull out in front of someone with one of these cars. You may or may not get a proper response from the transmission. After I had the car a year, my wife went to test drive a new Mazda for herself. We were in my Focus. The Mazda dealer told me up front they would not take a Focus on a trade-in because they've had too many that had to be taken to the Ford dealership for repair after they traded for them. So, they made a decision not to take any more on trade. This is very telling. The government should force Ford to recall this transmission and replace them with better ones. It is not fair to the consumer that they've been stuck with dangerous junk. I'm a Ford guy all the way, but his transmission is the worst.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on several occasions and the "transmission failure, service engine soon" warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence in October of 2018. In addition, the gear shifter failed to shift into the drive position and smoke appeared underneath the hood on one occasion while driving various speeds. Morrie's minnetonka Ford (13400 wayzata blvd, minnetonka, Minnesota 55305, (952) 546-5441) was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no remedy for NHTSA campaign number: 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,542.

Vehicle only has 63,000 miles. The Ford powershift dual-clutch transmission is defective and causes the car to jerk, shake, hesitate, and shutter when the accelerator is depressed to start the car moving from a stopped stationary position. This most typically occurs once the vehicle has warmed up. Ford dealership confirmed the clutch assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of $1650. Dealership informed me only option is to contact Ford customer service to see if they will cover the repair which they refused. This exact issue is well documented in Ford tech service bulletin 16-0109 dated April 2016. There is already a Ford recall for this exact issue that covers this same vehicle through June 2014 manufacture dates; however, my vehicle was manufactured in July 2014. Ford's response is vehicle is 3000 miles over the standard power train warranty and missed the existing recall manufacture cutoff date by one month. There is also a current class action lawsuit against Ford for this same exact issue. Ford dealership's own mechanics state this is a very common complaint and they deal with this exact customer issue on a routine basis. There are no aftermarket solutions available and independent mechanics cannot service the vehicle transmission because the work requires a proprietary Ford tool to remove and replace the leaking transmission seal kit which independent mechanics do not have access to. Please review and consider extending the existing Ford recall to cover additional model year vehicles facing this defective Ford dual-clutch design. The Ford clutch design seems to be defective and is affecting additional vehicles beyond the existing recall model year vehicles.

Continuous problems with tcm module and replacement of clutch disk assembly on 2014 Ford Focus. When these components go bad, the vehicle will have a shuttering sensation as if the vehicle does not want to go. The issue was so bad that it left my daughter stranded. We purchased the vehicle used in August 2015. Since purchased the vehicle has been back to the same dealership we purchased from 5 times for the problems mentioned earlier. In October of 2018 the clutch assembly was replaced again. I aske the dealership what could be done about this reoccurring problem...answer buy an extended warranty. Being dissatisfied with this response I contacted Ford customer service about this problem and basically got the door slammed in my face. I do not understand why 2012 and 2013 have an extended warranty of 100,000 miles on the clutch but the 2014 model year does not. I have the exact same problem as the 2012 and 2013.
