The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was on an incline, the contact stated when he released the brake pedal the vehicle began to immediately to roll backwards. The vehicle also sputtered and shook while attempting to increase speed and also sporadically emitted a grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The contact was advised that the clutch was broken in and calibrations were up to date. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 200. The current mileage was 3215.

When the vehicle comes to a complete stop it rolls backwards before you can place your foot onto the accelerator. The vehicle will also pull itself forward or backward from the bottom of a hill and clears the hill without manual acceleration. The transmission slips and causes a jerking movement while pulling off. In essence, the vehicle will continue rolling when the foot is not on the brake which serves as a possible accident risk. The vehicle was taken to the Ford dealership in which it was purchased from and I was told by the manager to take it to the service department where I was then told by them that the vehicle is equipped with hill assist and that it is supposed to act in that manner. In the Ford car manual it does mention the action of hill assist but it does not state that the car is supposed to roll backward or forward up a hill without hill assist being on.
