I wrote on this yesterday but did some more research on this vehicle. There have been numerous recalls on these type of vehicles. Recall #12V006000 on the torque converter output shaft. Recall began August 9 2012. This is a serious matter I just recently purchased this vehicle to take my 8 grandchildren around. Now I won't even put them in it. I also found out there was a recall on the back seat. Recall # 13V081000. This is also a problem when your hauling around children. The undercarriage of the vehicle is really rusty. I wish I would of never bought this vehicle. It sure is going to be a money pit for sure. It only has 141000 miles on it. Very sad that Ford could make such a unsafe vehicle. I bought the vehicle and it seemed fine. 5 days into ownership the torque converter light came on while I was driving it. Drove it back home and started reading about how Ford has a recall on this situation and now I'm afraid to drive it anymore. This situation on these transmission has gone to court and Ford lost.

Just recently bought 05 Ford Freestar van, 3 months ago in my driveway it refused to go forward, I parked it because I had something else to drive. Morning of December 30, 2019 my other automobile timing chain broke so I've been trying frantically to fix this van, I've replaced air cleaner sensor, throttle body sensor, and speed sensor. Nothing. I have reverse but no drive, engine seems to run fine. So I checked for recalls. I just don't know if manufacturer is still liable. 05 Ford Freestar van, miles 211375, VIN#[xxx]. my name: [xxx] if you need anything else please let me know. I don't know how this process works. January 2015 went to accelerate from stop at traffic light, indicator light on dash came on transmission went into limp mode.had vehicle towed needed a transmission rebuild with torque convt. Had 177K at that time at cost of $2700. October 2019 similar situation occurred no warning lights no slipping, banging or anything out of the ordinary. Stopped at traffic light, went to accelerate and car felt as if it was in neutral. Had car towed to transmission shop, was told it will need a rebuild with another torque convt. At approx. Same cost. Vehicle now has 233K miles on clock. This vehicle has been a real reliable asset to our family. This transmission lasted almost 5 years with approx. 56K miles. I would like to purchase another Ford, but concerned about the drive train as I drive this vehicle very easy. Thank you for looking into this concern.
