- Gallatin, TN, USA
The dashboard is bulging/buckling against the passenger side airbag. The bubble appears to be caused by the dash material surrounding the airbag becoming detached or unglued. The position of this bulging and separation cause concern that the airbag may malfunction upon deployment.
- Henrico, VA, USA
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard was separating which could possibly expose the air bag. The contact mentioned that the passenger side air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.
- Cincinnati, OH, USA
The dashboard is separating from the passenger air bag area and seems to be stretched by something, unsure as to cause as nothing is apparent. Also the front left defroster air vent near the windshield started to detach from the dashboard as if it was under spring pressure to do so. The local dealer says there is no fix for this to his knowledge, except to replace the entire dashboard. The dashboard does not appear to be made of material that stands up to uv lighting as to wear and now appears to be either poor quality materials or was factory installed improperly.
- Calhoun, GA, USA
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact noticed a protrusion on the passenger side dashboard where the air bag was located. It appeared as if the air bag would deploy at any moment. The vehicle was taken to two mechanics who both stated that the protrusion was not caused by the air bag. The vehicle was taken to a body shop and the mechanic stretched the material to repair the dashboard and closed the opening that was created. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000. Updated 09/15/14
- Owensboro, KY, USA
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while sitting idle, the front passenger side air bag erroneously deployed. The contact was startled, as there was no impact to the vehicle to warrant air bag deployment. The dealer was made aware of the failure and declined to assist. The manufacturer was also made aware of the failure but provided no assistance due to the age of the vehicle. The vehicle was not replaced. The failure mileage was 25,167.

2006 Ford Fusion: Two safety issues 1. the dashboard on the passenger side near the air bag is warped/bulged. The air bag indicator flashes on every once in awhile. I am concerned the air bag will deploy causing harm. This is a major safety concern. 2. complaint: Cracking and popping in my front suspension when turning or going over bumps. About two years ago I took my car to a Ford dealership and they stated there was a technical service bulletin and a "sub frame assembly kit" needed installed. Ford wouldn't cover the repairs but I bargained they ended up covering the cost of the part and I paid labor. Problem seemed to stop for awhile but is now back. My concern is if the subframe breaks it will cause an accident. I drive 25 miles to work Monday thru Friday, 90% is highway.
- Fort Mill, SC, USA
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while traveling 45 mph, the vehicle was involved in a crash with another vehicle. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy, which caused the contact's chest to strike the steering wheel. The contact sustained back, neck, hip and chest injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure and current mileages were unknown.

I was proceeding through an intersection to turn left. A car that was supposed to stop ran the red light and T-boned me directly in the driver's side. His airbag deployed (front). My 2006 Ford Fusion is equipped with front and side airbags. None of them deployed. I was transported to the hospital with fractured ribs and ultimately, needed pt to restore my neck and left arm rotator cuff to full use and back to normal position. Progressive insurance insisted on repairing the car - total over $17,000 damage to vehicle. No one checked out airbag system and all assume it is working properly. I disagree. The door post where the sensors are located was smashed in, driver's door would not open, cut and rebuilt floor of car.

Exiting the freeway at 40mph the brakes failed and my wife hit the barriers and the air bags never deployed.

I almost killed in a near fatal collision on January 15, 2007. I was in a 2006 Ford Fusion sel with front and side airbags. My car was demolished and but for the grace of god I survived despite my failed airbags. I informed Ford as you can see they started to deploy and stick out a little. The photos prove they failed. Ford is making it difficult to follow through and I have the car being held so it can be inspected. I am afraid they are defective and will result in the death of someone. I was flown by helicopter with severe head injuries and from the pictures, you can see the blood spot where my head cracked the side panel directly below where the airbag should have come out. The impact zones on the car are with out question worthy of making the airbag deploy. Please contact me, as I am tired of trying to work with Ford because of my concern for the lives of others, and all they want to do is be obstructive.

: the contact stated the vehicle was in an accident at 55 mph into a sand dune. The car rolled over four times and the air bags did not deploy. There was no air bag warning light illuminated prior to or after the incident. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company and has not been taken to a service dealer.
