Car gas pedal stopped responding on the highway. Had to pull over and turn off and on again to fix it. Turns out it's a defective throttle body, a widespread issue. Had to get it replaced.

While driving at highway speeds vehicle stalled and wrench light illuminated causing the vehicle to immediately slow down and go into a "limp home" mode. After pulling off the highway and restarting the vehicle the issue went away. Ford dealer tested and found faulty throttle body and replaced it.

While driving on interstate 30 in traffic at about 70 to 75 mph the car just stopped accelerating and I had to coast off the roadway and kill the car and restart it. This is a dangerous situation in heavy traffic and has occurred on two different occasions in the past two weeks. I have researched this problem with other Fusion owners from 2010 to 2012 and this seems to be a common problem nationwide. This problem should be on a recall before people get hurt or killed.

Was driving on interstate in heavy traffic. Car immediately-without warning- lost power to accelerate. Went to a limp driving mode. Warning light (wrench) came on. Was very dangerous situation. Had to maneuver to side of road. Almost was hit from behind. Car shook and stuttered. Turned off ignition and waited a couple minutes. Started car, all warning lights cleared. Was able to make it home without any other in incident. Few days later same malfunction happened again. Car lost acceleration and had to limp to safe place in heavy traffic. Turned off car and restarted. Took car to Ford dealership and was told car is out of warranty and diagnosis was throttle body. A common problem but not a recall. Wow.

Driving at highway speed, engine stalls while attempting to merge. Orange wrench light appears near fuel gauge. Rough idling below 1000 RPM. Turn car off and wait one minute. Restart car and drive without incident.

First incident happened in traffic on highway at speed in passing lane then it started shaking with no throttle response, wrench light came on dash. Stop scrolled in the info panel., and died. I had to pull thru traffic from right lane to left lane then to the shoulder with a vehicle not under power. Very scary moment. I took to dealership, and was told it did not store a code so they couldn't go any farther with a repair. Took car home, same sequence of events happed again, this time in a intersection and another in a county road at 45mph. Took back to dealership. No codes!. I told them keep the car and drive it yourself till it happens with you, it did of course. Was told did not store a code but thought to be the throttle body.

Last Wednesday, 7/24/13, I was on the interstate coming home from work in the far left hand lane when my engine shut off and put me in a really bad situation. I had to cross multiple lanes of traffic, while not being able to accelerate, to get to get back to the shoulder. The car seemed to being working fine, but when I hit the gas there was no response. The lights, gauges, and radio still worked and a wrench light came on. I was nearly rear ended twice and barely made it to the shoulder. Today, 7/30/13, on my way to work the same thing happened. Thankfully this time I was not on the interstate, but rather on a busy city street, and was able to quickly and safely get out of the way.

The car started loosing power on the interstate. Then it stopped completely. After pulling over, it started again which made me think it was a stopped up fuel filter. No hard codes appeared at that time. It did the same thing several times later. On one occasion it stopped in the city and I was nearly rear ended by another car. Finally this week a hard code appeared which showed it was the throttle actuator. The mechanic working on the car tried to get one from the Ford dealer but was told they were on a national backorder and wouldn't be available until August 7, 2013.

Happen twice in one day was going down the road going about 20 mph when the car lost speed and would not go when you when you pushed the gas a wrench light came on I was able to pull off on the side of the roadway, then called Ford they stated that they have an ongoing problem with the throttle body actuator. I took my car to a maniacal shop, they hooked the car up to a machine which showed that my throttle actuator control system was stuck open, I then contacted Ford again with this information got a case number. I then asked if they had the part an were able to fix it they then advised me that the part was on national back order and would not be until mid July (2013) till they could get it to fix my car.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion hybrid. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel spilled out of the filler neck. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 21,335. The VIN was unavailable.

Driving along at around 40 miles per hour, then notice the loss of power, a bright yellow light appeared on the dash - stop safely hazard warning (rtt) - which according to the owners handbook indicates hybrid component fault/failure that will cause the vehicle to shutdown (which it had already down, I had a hard time turning the steering wheel). Failed to re-start the first time or enter into a limited operating mode, seems like ray skillman Ford, greenwood, Indiana could not find any problems. This $31,000 vehicle has only 1,400 miles on the clock and per standard operating procedure denies any problems with the vehicle.

We were driving on the highway at approximately 40mph when the car lost power and began to shake. We were fortunate to be able to pull off on the shoulder out of traffic and turn off the motor. After waiting approximately 15 minutes, we were able to restart the car and drive safely to a reliable automotive shop we have used for over 20 years. Finally after a week of testing, they were able to replicate the problem we had experienced.they replaced the alternator, at our considerable expense, and we brought the car home more than a week later. We drove the car without incident until Tuesday, october16th when the same problem happened again. This time at about 30mph. Again, after waiting 10-15 minutes, the car started again and was driven safely to the automotive repair shop where it remains 5days later. This is a great inconvenience since we live in an area where a car is a necessity but it is also a serious safety hazard since this problem could easily happen when accelerating into traffic or on a busy multilane, high speed highway. From reading this site, we have become aware that there are many complaints of this nature for this make and model year and we question why there has been no recall or, at very least, a consumer alert.

My brand new car, in my possession for 7 days had to get towed to the shop. My 11 month old daughter and 2 month old niece were in this car when it suddenly stalled and jerked. I was almost hit from behind and had to pull over and drive jerking back around the block to my starting point. Luckily I wasn't on the freeway at a high speed but I could have been. This is a severe safety issue as the acceleration is affected by the throttle body which had malfunctioned. The part was replace but I believe the computer controlling the throttle body is defective not the throttle body itself. Ford needs to recall this hazardous component and implement a solution.
