Fusion

  • 65,000 miles
My cars engine shuts off after accelerating with no warning. No engine lights come on during the process and my car remains in motion but can't accelerate. The car starts to shake vigorously when right before shutting off. I need to shut off the car and turn it back on to get it going, but it becomes dangerous when on the road. I took it to a mechanic who can't determine the cause of the issue. This issue only happens after a second startup of the vehicle within an hour time of shutting off the vehicle for the first time. After restarting the vehicle after the second failed drive, everything works correctly again. All electrical systems keep working when the engine shuts off. Happened 12 different times for me since February.

I have a 2014 Ford Fusion ecoboost 2.0 turbo the vehicle runs great until you shut it off. Once you start it up it runs fine then within a few minutes not everytime it will just shut off. It will also start shaking in stop and go traffic then shutoff. I have avoided two head on collisions at intersections turning left when the engin died, I was able to restart it both times after a few minutes then I nearly had a rear end impact when merging on the freeway, I w as going 65-70 and as I merged over the car sputtered and shut off. I was able to coast to the shoulder and wait for a tow.. this is a very dangerous issue and I know several people all with a Ford ecoboost engine that have the same issue. The problem appears to be the purge valve. Ford needs to address all ecoboost motors. This is an active recall on the Ford Focus 2.0 liter cars. Suffice to say I am very cautious when ever I drive it now. I want it fixed or gone. This still happens almost daily.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was at a stop, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the purge valve failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

My car is stalling after it is driven for 15-20 mins. Once the car is turned off, if it is started within the next hour, it always stalls out. I see that Ford Fusion had a similar issue that was recalled. This is the note that I saw online for the Ford Focus recall, "Ford is recalling nearly 1.3 million Focus compact cars in the U.S. because a fuel system problem can cause the engines to stall without warning. The recall covers cars from 2012 through 2018 with 2-liter four-cylinder engines." I have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they keep diagnosing it as a bad fuel sensors that need to be replaced. Well, I've replaced them already and the same problem keeps happening. I cannot afford to keep paying the dealer for something that I believe is an issue that they should be taking care of since their other vehicles were having the same issue.

When I initially start my vehicle there are no problems. The problem starts if I turn my car off after driving it. It will start and I can drive for about 500 feet and it will then turn off. I have to restart it and then it continues to drive normally. This happens almost every time I start, stop and restart the vehicle. It is always while the vehicle is in motion.

Has rattle under passenger floor when fuel tank is 3/4 to full in park or in gear at complete stop or just creeping below 5 mph and have read online about the baffles breaking in the fuel tank causing this issue also read it causes air in fuel line which could be a safety issue while traveling down highway if engine cuts out due to this issue, , also drivers door doesn't always latch 100 % sometimes have to open and close door several times to shut completely and has started doing this since October of 2018 also transmission shifts funny when cold going from park to reverse has very harsh engagement and 3rd shifts very firm when going

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. After the contact filled the fuel tank with 3/4 of fuel, a loud rattling noise was heard coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the noise sounded as if the exhaust may have made contact with the fuel tank. The contact was an independent mechanic and inspected the vehicle, but could not find the source of the failure. The contact highlighted that the fuel tank rattling noise only sounded when the tank was 3/4 full and became more prominent in colder temperatures. A dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

Fusion 4-cyl

  • 80,000 miles
While in motion, my 2014 Ford Fusion abruptly stopped accelerating. The vehicle did not turn off. The vehicle was able to drive for a few seconds (around 20 seconds) after driving out of the parking space, and afterwards it stopped accelerating. This happened to me while on the road and could have resulted in a serious accident to myself and others. It happened on more than one occasion. After getting two diagnoses from a Ford dealership, they said the issue had to do with the low side fuel pressure sensor. It was not functioning properly. They needed to replace it. Important to note is the fact that the check engine light was not on before or after the incident transpired. In other words, the vehicle's safety system gave no indication that the vehicle needed immediate attention. This safety defect is in breach of the national traffic and motor vehicle Safety Act. A vehicle should not abruptly stop accelerating while on the road as it can cause serious casualties to the owner and nearby vehicles. The fact that the vehicle's safety system/check engine light never came on is incredibly significant. This safety defect repair should be reimbursed to owners of this Ford vehicle.

So I have a 2014 Fusion, bought pre-owned currently with about 16,000 miles. I recently noticed that my car when accelerating pauses to accelerate. This is especially noticeable trying to go from 0-60 as fast as possible. Also after slowing down and hitting the gas pedal it almost feels like no power is being applied to the engine momentarily. I was stationary, then in motion below 10mph crossing an intersection on a city street and to my right a vehicle was doing 40+ in a 25 and flew over a hill and almost hit me. When I went to accelerate to get out of his way, this is when I noticed the problem, I slammed the gas and didn't move until a literal second later, luckily he slammed his brakes and nothing happened. Reason unknown, however after experimenting in a safe environment some more, I noticed that it only really happens in drive, not sport. Although it is an automatic, they split up these sections and probably different "chips" that dictate these controls. It could be a delay between pressing the pedal and receiving power. Unfortunately, I cannot drive the vehicle and record at the same time as I don't have a safe way of doing so, and it looks like you don't allow video to be uploaded anyway. The vehicle currently has 27,000, model SE, 2.5L engine, semi-automatic transmission. Again, does delay in acceleration in drive, not sport.

Very dangerous safety hazard with my 2014 Ford Fusion. I have been having issues with my car stalling on me. Typically it happens when I am leaving a parking lot or gas station, pulling away from a stop sign/light, or reversing from a parking spot and shifting back into drive. It will sputter, the RPM needle rapidly fluctuates above 1 and under 1, and then will just go to 0. at all times I am driving at low speeds, but numerous times I was either driving into a busy street or it stalled in an intersection where I or other people could have been seriously injured. This has happened about 10 times in the last 2 weeks, but it is very random. Some days will go by without a hitch and other days it will happen 2 or 3 times. Most of the time when it happens, it happens again right after. So I will put the car in park, completely shut it off, and turn it back on, it will drive for like 5-10ft and then do it again. I took it to the dealership, and they said they could not find an issue. The did a few test drives and let it sit and run for awhile, and the car didn't stall. There is no engine light on, so they said they can not diagnose the problem, unless they see it for themselves. This is very concerning to me as I am scared to drive, knowing that it could stall and I could get in an accident. I also drive for a ride sharing company, and it is too risky for me to pick up passengers knowing something could happen, and I would be responsible. This issue needs to be addressed right away as I know I am not the only one having this problem, which means there a a number of faulty cars on the road that can just stall out at any moment and cause fatal accidents. I am scared to drive this car! this has been an on-going issue that has gradually gotten worse, and thankfully I have managed to stay accident free. (I have attached other complaints)

Fusion

  • 50,000 miles
The Ford Fusion on multiple occasions in the last 2 months has suddenly, without warning, lost full throttle power while driving (radio remains on), I.e., gas stops flowing into engine despite attempting acceleration, and the car will on its own come to a stop. So far, have been able to pull over without incident, but obviously it's very scary! this generally occurs shortly after the car has had ignition turned on while driving on road generally at low speed - don't want to ever experience this happening on a highway! then I turn engine off a few seconds and attempt to restart - it often takes scarily longer after this power loss to restart, but it does restart. Could lead to life-threatening situations obviously!
