I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid home from work, and my ABS brake system lights came on. I was on the highway driving from work, and traffic was heavy bumper to bumper practically; as I was driving, I tried to brake when traffic came to a stop, I couldn't stop, my brakes weren't working. I had to use the emergency brake, to stop my vehicle before hitting the rear of a vehicle; I turned off of the highway onto to curve of the highway just in the nick of time before I hit the rear of the vehicle in front of me. Contacted silver rock Inc, warranty on my vehicle, and they stated the ABS control module was not covered. This item can only be purchased by Ford; which costs $1180.36, just for the part. I can't afford that. Now am at a loss, I don't know what am going do about this matter. I need a resolution. I am still paying a car note on this unit; and its my only transportation to work. Ford dealership stated, the only recall they show on my module is the air bag. I reported this to the dealership today 09/13/2018. This is a safety hazard, this I know.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. The contact received notification of an unknown manufacturer recall regarding the air bags. Robinson brothers Ford (225-293-8900, 11455 airline hwy, baton rouge, la 70816) indicated that the part had been unavailable since January. The dealer also indicated that there was no option of a loaner vehicle due to a limited supply. In addition, when applying the brake pedal, it traveled to the floorboard. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was not included in any brake system recalls. The dealer diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

My breaks in my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid stopped working a couple seconds after starting the car (along with a beeping alert and display on dashboard to check breaks). Fortunately I was in a parking lot and going at a slow speed. I was able to pull to the side and stop. I turned the vehicle off. When turning the vehicle back on the alerts were gone and breaks worked. I had the breaks checked and was told they were fine. About a month went past, I was coming to a stop at a light on a city street and my breaks suddenly went out (along with an alert display of check breaks). Luckily no cars were in front of me so I was able to make a right turn and pull to the side until my car came to a complete stop. I turned the car off and on and breaks again worked fine and all warning lights off. With plans to take the vehicle to the Ford dealer after work I parked. After about 8 hours with the vehicle being off I returned to my car. I turned on the vehicle and the break alert was back and I had no functional breaks. This time when I continued to turn the car on and off the alert did not go away and the breaks did not return.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. While driving 55 mph, the service power steering now and electronic control system warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the transmission friction element G performance and the invalid data received from ABS control module codes were found. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 149,058.

Less than a minute after starting the car, I was braking and turning slightly left on a slight decline in a parking lot. The brake pedal suddenly went soft, brake failure alert sounded and appeared on dashboard, and pedal went all the way to the floor, never re-engaging despite pumping. Thankfully because I was traveling 10mph at most, and despite my shock and confusion, I was able to avoid a collision, and quickly park in another spot. I made a phone call and decided to try again and upon restart the brakes had no problems and I was able to drive home, with my one hand ready to use the emergency brake. Given the conditions this failure occurred, I suspect the problem is with the hydraulic control unit.

After pulling out of my driveway and heading down my local street (approx 15-20 mph) I pressed brakes approaching intersection. ABS/brake/maintenance lights came on with message 'service brake system' and 'traction control off'. brake pedal was hard and brake power faded. I was able to pull over and got towed to Ford dealer. Dealer says ABS module failed and needs replacement, $1500 or more. If this happened on a highway, I would have most certainly been in a serious accident. I see multiple complaints here in recent months describing similar problems.

Turned on vehicle went onto residential street. Went to hit brakes and they didn't work. The following lights came on traction control/ABS/brake lights. Took into Ford for review. They replaced hcu, ECU, and master cylindar. Even going slow was not able to stop at a red signal and had to make right turn to avoid crash in intersection. Repair costs were about $2500.

The contact stated that all the warning indicators in the vehicle illuminated. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by manually shifting the vehicle into the park position. Jerry's Ford alexandria (6510 little river turnpike, alexandria, va) was called and the contact was informed there were no recalls for the failure. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Left house one morning ABS light came on and little to no brakes. Came back slowly to the house. Waited five minutes tried again. Again brake pedal went to the floor. Waited 2 hours and drove to my mechanic 2 miles away using back roads. Mechanic who is right on a highway went to take it for a drive. No brakes. After checking codes it was determined that it needed nee ABS module and brake booster. My understanding is this has become a very serious problem that should be recalled. Had I made it to highway and had this happen at intersection it could have been a critically serious situation. Now I am spending $2264 on a fix that some have said does not help the situation. Can we please hold Ford accountable for these issues? this should be a recall. Do I even know the parts I am buying wont fail in the future or worse will I be selling a future death trap to a stranger.

While driving on city street approx 45mph, brake light illuminated along with check brake system and service advance trac. Observed dramatically reduced braking power. Had to use emergency brake to safely control vehicle. Pulled over, checked vehicle an observed no apparent leaks. Brake fluid was slightly low. Topped it off. Restarted vehicle and drove short distance home with no improvement. Symptoms appear similar to existing reports on earlier model Fusion except that I did not engage ABS prior to occurrence.

Driver was approaching a stoplight on a residential street with a 35 mph speed limit. The light turned yellow then red and driver applied brakes to stop at the light. The brakes completely failed and driver proceeded through the red light intersection. Driver slowed enough a block later and pulled into the open grass field next to the post office before finally coming to a gradual stop. Two warning lights appeared on the dashboard at the time of failure. After turning the power off then back on again the brakes worked perfectly normal again and the warning lights did not come back on. The car was taken to the local Ford dealership and they drove the car and checked it for quite some time, however, they found nothing wrong with it. They did notice that some error codes had indeed tripped in the past, but again, couldn't find any problems at all with the brake system ($120 later).

December 31, 2018 ' while driving through city, I attempted to use the brakes and they did not response. I was able to cut the engine and pull over to the side of the road with spouse and children in vehicle. Error message stating ABS brake system was not responding and a false positive tire sensor. January 2, 2018 ' took car into dealership. Technicians unable to replicate problem though they found the error code in system. Technician replaced brakes, calipers, and reset error code. January 27, 2018 ' same error message occurred with brakes failing in apartment parking lot. Car parked and error message went away. January 31, 2018 ' same error message occurred and added an advancetrac service error message. Brakes failed to work. Upon researching issue with vehicle, I came across a consumer report which describes our problem exactly. Called dealership and currently working at trying to solve problem. Dealership stated if it was a software update, they wouldn't charge for the labor involved to update it. If software update failed to solve the problem, they would charge for assessment, parts, and labor to repair. Do not have a record of receiving mailing about the repair problem for this issue as the vehicle was purchased in 2013.

Rear brake calipers and rotors rusted excessively fast, requiring a full rear brake job at 42,300 miles. Emergency brake and excessive rust was causing friction and sound, which led to the brake inspection. Faulty design where rear brakes need replacement after such as short period of time. When I told Ford dealership of this issue - rear brakes were "snapping" when first moving, I was told that all Fusion have this rust buildup issue and that it was common. Took it into dealership and they just shrugged.

When stopping or driving the brake lights come on service trac message appears alarms go off and there is no brakes at all. A few times you can turn car off turn it back on again and then the brakes work but recently they woukd work at all had car towed to local Ford dealership was charged $140 to reset the PCM they said computer communication failer. Today 24 hours after getting car back went to stoo at a stop sign and no brakes and all the alarms came on again I turned the car off turned it on and brakes worked bit I drove it straight back to dealership. This isn't normal and a huge safety issue I had my daughter in the car as well. I cant see how Ford can allow this to not be a covered issue and how they are ok with complete brake failure. I don't feel safe in this car at all.

The ABS brake system cut out completely the evening of 11/29/17. The dashboard lit up with warning lights and brake pedal was not functioning. I was traveling 10-15 mph and thankfully was able to pull over using the parking brake. I was able to turn off and restart the car. The brake system then functioned normally. I carefully drove home and took the car in for service the next morning. The dealership says I have to replace the control module and solenoid, with an estimate of $2,000-3,000. Hopefully, that will fix the problem long-term. If the incident had happened on the highway, it could have been fatal.

Vehicle had brake failure while in operation on Oct. 1, 2017. Sudden loss of response to pressure on the brake pedal, extreme difficulty bring vehicle to a stop. Occurred while in motion while driving straight on a city street. Check brake light, ABS warning, and skid warning lights all came on. This could be a life threatening hazard had brake failure occurred in deceleration from high speed or during a critical traffic situation. Injury or death would have been imminent from a vehicle crash or collision. Service center claims this was a failure of both the ABS control module and control module valve. Many very similar descriptions of complaints about brake failure are found for the 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid using an on-line search, including obvious risks for collision, crashes, and injuries. This needs to be recalled and repaired immediately.

Power braking function failed as I pulled from curb and started driving down my residential street. Instrument panel brake warning lights on came on and very heavy pressure on brake pedal required to stop car as I approached a stop sign. Ford service shop diagnosed problem to be a failed ABS module. The car has only 110705 miles on it. The repair cost $765.09 for part plus $471.83 for labor and fees. This component failure could have been extremely dangerous as highway speed.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. When attempting to apply the brakes, the vehicle failed to stop unless the brake pedal was depressed aggressively to the floorboard. The contact took the vehicle to the sutton Ford dealer where the brake booster was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice and the dealer reassembled the new brake booster until the brakes functioned properly. The failure recurred again and the contact relocated some time afterwards. The contact took the vehicle to the earnhard Ford dealer who also replaced the brake booster, brake harness, and computer module. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure in reference to the first occurrence and assisted with the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the recurring failures. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
