Car would not accelerate under full power. When I fully depressed the gas pedal, the power meter (hybrid gauge instead of rpm) would only go up to 45%, the engine sounded like it was revving high but the car barely made any power. After a few minutes of this happening I got a message in my instrument cluster to immediately stop the vechicle, along with a red triangle with exclamation point dash light, at which point the car lost power, and started decelerating rapidly (as if in full regeneration mode (electric braking)) in the middle of the highway. I barely had enough time to get over 2 lanes of traffic and stop on the shoulder. I tried turning off the car, and on and the shifter wouldn't even go out of the P position (I physically couldn't turn it.) After a couple minutes I tried starting car again at which point car started with the check engine light on and drove normally like nothing ever happened.

Transmission Failure. Following a 550 mile road trip over two days. The transmission would fail to engage in Drive and Reverse until the engine was throttled to 4000-4500RPM. Transmission felt like a Manual with failing clutch, would slip until slowly engaging after running at high RPMs for a few seconds. The condition appeared after the first day of the trip, and was intermittent, occurring only during standing starts. Once the vehicle was moving, there was no problem maintaining speed. Over the next two days the condition deteriorated to the point where it was occurring almost every time the vehicle was started and an attempt was made to start from a stand still. It began to become noticeable shifting from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 as well, where it felt like the transmission was slipping during acceleration. There were no warning lamps or indications from the vehicle that there was a failure. This caused a loss of power and acceleration, which endangers the vehicle occupants in situations where power and acceleration is needed, such as merging, crossing intersections, or making defensive driving maneuvers. This vehicle was towed to a dealer, where the dealer validated the concern, and the transmission was replaced under warranty. Repair notes state that the transmission converter had failed. The transmission was returned to the manufacturer during the service visit. There are multiple instances online of other vehicles with this transmission having the same problem.

Vehicle on multiple occasions exhibits a dead condition (no power delivery from battery). Essentially nothing is operating requiring a jump to reset the vehicle. Ford was unable to resolve on the first visit. Concerned that the vehicle will suddenly die while operating. Multiple occurrences of "dead vehicle" reported by hybrid owners

With the initial instance (it has happened 3 separate times), I was traveling on the interstate on the way back from Tennessee to Georgia and stepped on the accelerator (basically punched it) to get around a big rig, all of a sudden I get a "tow truck" icon on my dash and the accelerator is unresponsive, so I think I was in electric mode only if that. Fortunately, I was close to an exit and was able to coast to a stop in a parking lot. I put it in park, whereby the shifter dial then locked into park, could not change it. My wife read a blog on the internet (the owners manual is useless) to wait a few minutes and everything should work, that turned out to be true, so we were able to be on our way, but scary as heck to be on the highway and your vehicle suddenly shuts down. My Ford Pass app showed a "High Voltage Battery warning" message and also the MIL (check engine light came on solid and stayed on for at least another day, but eventually went out. This happened 2 other times, the exact same scenario, but this time light to moderate acceleration. I believe my safety was put at risk because the vehicle was rendered useless while traveling at high speeds on the highway. My dealer had it for 2 weeks, and said they read some transmission codes but tell me Ford doesn't know what to do to fix the issue at this point.

Driving down road at 45 mph as usual. Car suddenly shudders and as I pull to a stop car is stuck in neutral. Will not receive gas. Suddenly lurches into first gear, almost making me hit who is in front of me. I pull into center lane and the car is frozen and won't move. I restart the car and it stays stuck in first gear revving high. I limp it home given I'm a few minutes away. Could have caused a serious incident.
