I took it to the dealer for a recall with a PCM programming. After that, I drove it for a few days and the car came to a sudden halt on the freeway. Luckily the cars behind me did not hit me but it is a safety concern and the dealerships are not able to find the problem

I was driving on a divided secondary road and my truck when into reduced power mode, displaying " Powertrain malfunction/Reduced power, engine service soon, and precollision assistance not available". This ended up slowing me rapidly from 55 down to under 30 +/- MPH. When it was necessary to stop at a light and I took my foot off the accelerator, the truck did not immediately slow but actually surged forward. After 'crawling' home, I had it flat-bedded to a dealership that day, and it took them almost 2 weeks and multiple test drives to tell me that that cannot recreate this issue. I was told by the service advisor that there was an issue and that could see it in the vehicles history. I went to the dealership and asked them how long they would keep testing it if they were not able to replicate the problems. They said 'it was up to me'. I took the vehicle home. We only had it for a day and less than 100 miles of driving and the problem occurred again, after dark, on a busy road in an intersection and the truck would not move at all for a few tense moments. The gear selector dial flashed repeatedly and the parking brake came on by itself. We had the truck flat-bedded back to the dealership the next day and it will stay there until the solution is found to eliminate this dangerous and life-threatening operational fault. The second incident occurred on March 26. Service to address 2 recalls was done on the vehicle on March 6.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while pressing the fuel pedal the vehicle would not properly accelerate and had stalled. Also, while at a stop light the vehicle had erroneously accelerated forward. During the failures the check engine, power train and collision avoidance warning lights had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failures. The dashboard module was reprogramed but after retrieving the vehicle the failures continued to occur. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 9,500.

While driving the vehicle the transmission (Ford eCVT) appeared to be stuck at a certain ratio and the engine shut off. The vehicle continued to move on the electric motor. Various warnings flashed on the screen, including a "vehicle will reengage gears at speed", "service engine", "service transmission", "hill start disabled/malfunctioning", "traction control malfunctioning/disabled". I pulled off the road into a neighborhood to stop the vehicle. Later when I tried to limp the vehicle home it would automatically accelerate as fast as the electric motor could push it whenever I lifted my foot off the brake (accelerating on its own). Vehicle is waiting to be inspected by the dealer and has not been driven since.

While driving up hill a check engine light and power train malfunction/ reduced power warning appeared. This caused my vehicle to be unable to accelerate and could have caused the vehicle that was behind me to collide with my vehicle. This is the second time this issue has happened and the dealer I have taken it to has been unable to figure out the issue. As far as I know only my dealer has inspected the vehicle and there were no other warning signs or messages before the malfunction happened.

While driving the following warnings all came on: Gear Selected Will Engage at Low Speed Powertrain malfunction/reduced power Pre-collision assist not available Service engine soon warning Service AdvanceTrac Hill assist not available Vehicle came to a stop and parking brake automatically engaged. Driver could not control acceleration, gas pedal had no control, and vehicle moved on it's own under electric power. Vehicle would continue accelerating, and the only want to try to control speed was used the brake. Symptoms persisted for several drive cycles, until all the warning lights went off (except for checking engine light), and vehicle went back to normal. After several more drive cycles the check engine light went off. This is the third time this potential life threatening issue has occurred. Dealer has not been able to resolve the issue.

Vehicle at Ford dealer on 3/7/24 for two separate recalls, Emission Recall 23E09 and Compliance Recall Notice NHTSA 23V848 where the BCM and PCM were reprogramed and updated. The vehicle operated normally before the dealership service for the recalls. On 3/18/24 after the recall service was performed, while driving along a state route of speed limit 55, the vehicle suddenly lost power and displayed the following indications on dashboard: Service Engine Soon, Pre-Collision Assist not available, and Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced power. The vehicle was able to be pulled over safely to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to be restarted but at a significant loss of power with the same warning lights displayed. Safety was compromised as the vehicle lost power and speed and could only be operated a short distance. Thankfully other vehicles were able to avoid me at my significantly diminished speed and I was able to turn on warning flashers and pull to the side of the road no faster than 10mph. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealer, who had the vehicle for 3 days, where they confirmed with their scan tools the warning lights had come on and the power had diminished when the incident happened, but were not able to reproduce the symptoms. Technician noted there were no SSMS or TSBS from Ford or otherwise for these concerns and was given back to me at no charge. Incident happened on March 18th, 2024 and is available for inspection.

While operating my Ford Maverick truck at about 50 mph, I received two immediate warnings on the instrument panel. At the same time, the truck went into reduced power mode, displaying "Powertrain malfunction/Reduced power" and "Service Engine Soon". This ended up slowing me rapidly from 50 mph down to under 20 mph and the braking became very erratic. The vehicle would barely accelerate and I barely got it home at about 20 mph. It is now accelerating better but is still far from normal and the braking and hybrid systems are erratic.

Upon exiting highway and getting on access road, vehicle malfunctioned and indicated to slow down and shift transmission into neutral. I lost speed and was given little if any power to accelerate. I arrived at a red light where I shifted into neutral and then park. I shifted back to drive where I was able to get very little acceleration. I turned right, put on my hazards, and looked to park as quickly as possible. Even though I was driving slow I was also unable to fully brake, which was unsettling. I found a parking lot just a little ways up the road where I parked and called for a tow truck. The truck is currently at a local Ford dealer.

I was driving around in city traffic and all of the sudden a message popped up on my screen that said "gear will engage at lower speed" and lost all power. I coasted into the nearest parking lot and it slammed me to a stop when i got slow enough and put the parking brake on. It then thew a bunch of codes saying service soon, something regarding advancetrak, and the check engine light came on. I then turned the car off and back on which made only the check engine light come on so i tried to at least make it home and i accelerated to 20mph and lost power again. threw the same codes at me too. At that point i got into another parking lot and it got towed to mcree. I believe what the cause was a ford guy came by the house a week ago to do a recall and reprogrammed the computer system. I read online that a guy had the recall done a week ago and the same thing happened to him. That same guy said that he brought it to his ford dealer and they are on their 3rd attempt at fix it as the problem keeps occurring. lets hope that doesn't happen..

Truck died in the middle of a busy road. I was able to pull over and let it sit. Started it up, got another couple miles down the road, and it died again. Full plethora of warning messages. Let it sit some more - it started and I was able to drive it home. Pulled the codes: U1011 and U1028.

I took my ford Maverick to dealer for the recalls for three recalls: 24c01,23c41 & 23e09. About 1 hr later driving on highway the engine lost all power, gearshift knob was flashing; warnings started flashing, hill start assist not available, service soon, pre collision assist not available, service power trac( I think), check engine light came on & a wrench illuminated on dash. Went from 55-60 mph to a crawl in a few seconds. Fortunately was able to pull off-road. As soon as I touched brake pedal the emergency brake applied automatically & I slammed to a halt. After about 5 minutes & turning ignition on & off a few times everything worked again. Check engine light remained on but turn off the next day. I called dealership and they had no idea. Said to bring in again. This occurred on 3/6/24 and again on 3/10/24, both times identical situation. Both times I was fortunate no one behind me and room to get pull on shoulder. I posted this on the Maverick forum online only to discover it is happening to many people that have had the recalls done. Some their engines stopped on the freeway, going from 70 to a crawl in seconds. One person mentioned they almost got nailed by an 18 wheeler rig. I called the dealership to let them know what I found out online and they had no idea or how to correct. Whatever the recall did ( seems to be the recall associated with emissions - from online discussions) ford needs to correct. This type situation is an accident waiting to happen and putting lives in danger.

I have owned my 2023 Ford Maverick for, coming up on 14 months. It's been well taken care of it, serviced every 2-3 months, and not driven hard or abused. Last month the engine shuts off as the truck is parked in a gym parking lot. My FordApp was reading a powertrain malfunction. The truck gets towed to the dealership for servicing. Their go-to fix for the error code is to replace a module for the hybrid battery. After doing so the truck broke down a second time 2 minutes after starting up. A Ford engineer looked into it and decided the solution would be to remove the module/hybrid battery? and install high-voltage harnesses into the vehicle and then reinstall everything into those high-voltage harnesses. Parts are ordered; a full week and 40 hours of labor later, they start the truck and it shuts off again 2 minutes later, sending the same error code. A field engineer is sent out, and he now is recommending an entirely new transmission be installed. Parts are ordered and an eta of 2 weeks has been given for this repair to be made. A 14-month-old, brand-new truck has been in the dealership shop for 4 full weeks and is expected 2 more weeks for this selected repair. The truck could have broken down anywhere, at anytime! Who knows if you could have been driving or in a bad area... The high voltage harnesses also worry me because of lithium batteries already having a history as a fire risk, and now this sounds like it can increase the electrical flow capacity. Seriously concerning, especially as it seems there is not a concrete fix and they're trying multiple different repairs.

Hello! I just had RECALLS completed on [XXX] and drove car on [XXX] at 75mph speed (in Texas) and within 1 hour of driving the vehicle began flashing same issue mentioned and brought speed down to MAX 35mph with NO FOOT on pedal. Almost got hit by 18 wheeler! Took it to dealer and 300 miles plus they drove and could not replicate issue. Gave vehicle back and it happened again [XXX] at 70mph... Definitely believe it was the update that caused the issue. Extremely dangerous and SCARY too say the least to have the vehicle stop at such high speeds and have almost no control. My 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid had a horrible issue[XXX] I had two recalls (23e09B and 23C41B) done last Friday [XXX] (and an oil change) at Huntington Beach Ford, CA. Yesterday [XXX] I was driving with my daughter to go get food, and while stopped at a light I got numerous error messages and the truck would not move. It was extremely dangerous as I was on the road with cars all around me. I don't remember all the messages but some were Pre-Collision Assist not available, Service AdvanceTrac soon, Hill Start Assist not available, Service Vehicle Soon and a Check Engine Light. Eventually I got the truck to move, but it started accelerating on its own via electric power. Luckily the brakes worked and I was able to pull aside to a side street, stop the vehicle, and have it towed to Huntington Beach Ford, CA. The check engine light is still on, and I believe one of the recalls that reprogrammed the ECU caused this huge safety issue. I have also opened up a case with Ford Corporate ([XXX]) as this is a huge safety issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

As I was driving along the highway the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion. The electric shifter indicated the vehicle was no longer in drive and several errors/warnings appeared on the dash including -??Pre-collision assist not available, Powertrain Malfunction/reduced power, and service engine soon-??. No error messages were visible prior to this occurring. The vehicle can be made available upon request. It is currently at the dealer for the second time for this issue in the last 3 days. Both times the vehicle was rendered unusable in high speed/highway traffIc, putting both myself and fellow motorists at risk by forcing me to coast through a line of cars to reach the shoulder. Also, being on the side of the highway as cars fail to move over for the disabled vehicle poses its own risk to my safety as well as other motorists. The second incident occurred at approximately 7pm march 7th along the same highway and in identical fashion. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer, however, they identified and cleared the error codes stored by the vehicle. The service manager said he believed it was a result of a recent recall software update. The ford dealership that sold me the car has inspected the vehicle. My assessment is that this issue is related to a recent update performed by ford service regarding a recall/s. This vehicle was just serviced for its 30k maintenance and received the recall update/s and since then has broken down and been towed to the dealer twice.
