The rearview camera will intermittently display a blank or distorted image. When placing the car in reverse the camera will intermittently display a blank screen or distorted image while reversing the vehicle. This reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. This happens when both stationary and in motion. This is the same issue that my 2020 Ford Mustang GT VIN [xxx] has just received a recall notice for. The camera began to fail the summer of 2020. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The getrag mt-82 transmission locks me out of 2nd gear when im accelerating hardly for ex. Merging on the highway. Also my Mustang is plagued with electrical issues ranging from connecting with bluetooth, inoperable backup camera, tag light wire stripped. Sometimes when I start my vehicle, bluetooth will not connect to my phone for reasons I dont know. Also the backup camera works 10% of the time. Ive read that Ford wiring is being crimped in between the trunk lid. Lastly the rear tag light wires have been stripped/corroded due to poor weather protection.

Mustang

Backup camera and trunk brake light do not work due to known flaw in trunk wiring harness design. Wires inside the harness break from opening and closing trunk due to compression. Dealership has repaired once while under warranty by cheaply replacing sections of broken wire and crudely wrapping the entire harness with black electrical tape, however more wires have broken in new locations along the harness. This is a known defect with a technical bulletin published by Ford. However the service department refused to acknowledge that this is an issue common with 15-17 Mustangs. Despite clearly explaining what was wrong, they claimed I would have to pay $125 diagnostic fee because they don't know if the wiring might have been chewed by 'varmints.'

Back up camera repeatedly works intermittently causing me to back up into a post, costing $1200 in damages electrical wires going to trunk lid are incredibly thin and flimsy. This effects the back up camera, trunk release, trunk light, etc.; all of which have failed at one time or another. Repaired wiring twice but they are so frail, they continue to snap and cause malfunction throughout the car.

Location of electric power steering is the worse possible place. Failures are common due to water damage causing power steering to stop working at any moment. Even when car is moving which could cause accidents or death.

Wiring to the rear deck gets pinched when trunk opens/closes. Rear camera and trunk release do not work and 'trunk ajar' dash notification will not turn off. This is a known design defect by Ford. Back up camera works and then it doesn't. I refuse to go to dealership just to have them say it is working then to leave and it not working again. I've read forums and threads it is a very very common. Ford needs to fix this too many owners having same issue. This is a safety concern.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the back up camera failed to display. While the vehicle was in reverse, the camera did not show an image and the screen was blank. The contact's son also reported that the steering wheel would move on its own and it was difficult to turn. In addition, the ABS and power steering warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to medved Ford (1404 S wilcox St, castle rock, co 80104, (303) 688-3137) where it was diagnosed that a new power steering system needed to be installed. The part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The failure mileage was 76,000.

Backup camera malfunctioning, have had serviced several times and the expense is getting higher and still no fix. Ford knows there is a problem and they refuse to fix but this is a safety issue these cars have soo many blind spots you can't see backing up without it. It seems to be worse when car heats up, it rolls or goes blank and won't come on at all most days. It starts intermittently so when you carry it to Ford they say nothing is wrong but then it goes back to doing and your a danger when backing out anywhere why is nobody doing anything?? I purchased the vehicle in June of 2018 and it was messed up even then when the previous owner had it. It has been in and out of the shop 5 or 6 times if not more. Lcd screen replaced wires checked and now I'm having pay 300$ to replace the wiring harness and no guarantee of a fix. I feel unsafe and have backed out in front of moving vehicles and this is going to cause an accident if not fixed. You can't see in this car without it!!can someone please do something this is all over the internet as a problem and no one has any one sure solution but its defective and costing a fortune and still not working, while Ford overlooks it that's soo dangerous!! you cannot see!!!

The car intermittently will not start. The dealers say they can't fix the car without a computer error code which they are not getting. I have been stranded with the car on several occasions. I have checked on-line and find that other Mustang owners are having exactly the same experience and their cars are not getting fixed either. I also contacted Ford customer service directly but have had no feedback from them. I am out of options and don't know what to do. Ford needs to provide a timely fix and honor their warranty agreement to keep these cars on the road. This is not the only electric/electronic problem I have had/do have with the car

Unable to open trunk in 2015 Mustang convertible. The key fob, dash release button and outside release button will not open trunk. Also found out back up camera is out too. I just found on internet tonite, this is a known problem due to poor design of wire harness in trunk lid. This is a safety issue since you cannot get in trunk and no operable camera. Please see following: Inoperative park aid camera, luggage compartment lamp, decklid release and/or poor satellite radio reception ' 2015-2017 Ford Mustang oemdtc May 5, 2016 diagnostic tips ssm 47306 ' 2015-2017 Mustang ' inoperative park aid camera, luggage compartment lamp, decklid release and/or poor satellite radio reception some 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles may experience an inoperative rear parking aid camera, luggage compartment lamp, deck lid release and/or poor satellite radio reception. Check the 14A005 wire harness at the right deck lid hinge for damage between the package tray harness retaining clip and the deck lid harness retainer clip.
