Driver was traveling on expressway in the left lane when the rear driver side tire came apart. There was no warning. We have been checking these tires almost daily because of the current recall of other Firestone tires. They appeared fine. When the tire came apart the vehicle crossed the expressway to the right and left the freeway off the right shoulder. It felt like the vehicle was on 2 wheels at one time, but did not roll over. The vehicle hit a tree in the center front. The driver had tried to steer as straight as possible, but there was no control of the vehicle. We still have our driver. Others may not be so lucky. Please help get all these defective tires off the road. (dot number: VD70 tiresize: P24575R16)

My company owns 5 Ford Ranger. Over the past two months, I have been fighting with northpoint Ford and with Firestone to get these tires repaired or replaced. I have had two trucks where the tires have split and got no response. One truck with less than 25,000 miles on it, the tires are worn out and the truck today that blew the sidewalls out and once again contacted Firestone and northpoint Ford and they both are telling me it is the other ones responsibilitie to replace. So I am contacting you to see if you can help me so that I don't have to buy twenty tires to keep my drivers on the road safely. Thanking you in advance for your help. Carey gill. On December 30, 1999, I took a trip to robert lee, tx with my new vehicle. Upon awaking the next morning at my hotel, I discovered that my left rear tire was shredded and flat. Upon my return, I contacted Ford, who informed me that I would have to deal with Firestone. I went to Firestone, the technician tried to tell me that I had hit the curb with my right front tire, when in fact, it was my left rear tire that had my spare on it and had to be replaced. After going round and round with Firestone, they informed me that I would have to pay half the price of a new tire. They were doing this as good customer service, at that time, they knew in fact, that there was trouble with their tires and failed to inform me. Instead they had me foot the bill for relacement of the tire. I have contacted both Ford and Firestone numerous times, regarding this matter and I keep getting the same run around. They refuse to refund my cost of the tire and they stand by the fact, that only the specified tires of the recall, have had a problem. When in fact, this is a brand new vehicle, I had only had one month and this was its first long trip. I have been very disgusted in trying to deal with both of these firms and their disregard for the consumer's safety is of great concern to me. I am trying to have the other tires on my vehicle replaced and the monies they had me pay refunded. (tiresize: P225/70rx)( dot number: Tire size: P225/70rx )

I had been driving for about 20 minutes when I felt my steering wheel start to shake. I slowed down and within 15 seconds my right front tire blew out. I was driving at about 55 mph on a straight road. Prior to the incident I had not noticed any problems with the tire or the handling of my truck. (dot number: W2uu ipo tiresize: P225/70R15)

I received a letter from martin inglis, vp Ford North America, stating my "2000 Ranger was not affected by this recall". today I had to change my left rear Wilderness AT P245/75R16- dot W270 as it was flat. When the spare was lowered down for the first time, I noticed it was a radial ATX P235/75R15. On the back of Mr. Inglis's letter of 8.17.00 it states all P235/75R15 tires were recalled. Perhaps, other Ford owners who received that letter might want to check their spares. Obviously, one cannot rely on Ford to supply accurate information..0( dot number: Vdhl tire size: P235/75R15 )
