Takata recall. The contact owns a 2004 Ford Ranger. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V788000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair as the recall notice was received over a year ago. The dealer (egolf Ford of brevard, 1235 asheville hwy, brevard, nc 28712, (828) 884 4151) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was contacted several times and was unable to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact recently received a second notice from the Ford manufacturer to not drive the vehicle. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

There is a recall that has went in to effect on 12/13/2017 from the Ford Motor Company (#17S42) stating manufacturer safety recall issued for airbag inflator replacement. But, the last 2 months I've contacted my local Ford dealerships numerous times about a remedy and when the part will be in to replace and repair this I have been told they are uncertain when they will be available. This made me wonder how something this serious of a safety risk and description of the recall stating "if an inflator explodes metal fragments could strike the driver or other occupants causing serious injury or death. This free repair is a final repair for both the driver and passenger frontal airbags on your vehicle. Important, the airbag inflators in your vehicle must be replaced even if they were previously replaced under any other recall." This gives me a great deal of concern as this is my transportation commuting to work. My vehicle is a 2004 Ford Ranger. I just contacted Ford manufacturer over the phone and was told to call local dealerships and was not given an answer. What is my next step? I just hope I am not involved in an accident where my life or the life of my girlfriend and unborn child are at risk.

Ford has exceeded a reasonable amount of time to have the air bags fixed. The letter I received in January states in bold letters that parts are available now and to call my dealership to schedule a repair. It is not April and the dealership still does not have the parts. Ford needs to be held accountable and parts need to be delivered.

Letter from Ford announcing recall (the second time) in January, 2018. Called West hills Ford, bremerton, Washington in January, they do not have parts yet. Called again February 13, still no parts. Called in early March, still no parts. Checked with other Ford dealers, they have same problem. Called West hills 3-26-2018, they do not have parts and don't expect them until mid-May. This is completely unacceptable and Ford is not any help with the solution.

Airbag inflators - January 2018 I received in the mail ' safety recall notice 17S42/NHTSA recall 17V787 and 17V788. I called chapman Ford located at 3951 columbia avenue, columbia, pa in January and they told me they do not have the parts. They told me to call in 30 days. I called again in February and they told me to call them in 30 days again. I called them again on March 19, 2018 and they do not have the parts and have no idea when they will be getting them in. I called chapman Ford located at 1485 manheim pike, lancaster, pa left several messages and they never returned my call. In the meantime, I am driving an unsafe vehicle. It appears the dealerships are clueless on the safety recall notice and do not care about their customer's safety. It has been three months and I am not getting any answers on when my vehicle will be repaired. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

"takata recall" went to dealer twice on this recall, second time made appointment after telling them what it was for, the recall number, vehicle VIN, etc. Took day off work for appointment only to be told they couldn't comply as they didn't have the parts. Why did they make the appointment with no parts? I am tired of the games on this issue. Ford owes me a new truck.

Takata recall received notice in December 2017. Notice informs customers parts are available on 1-15-2018. I have been calling dealer(s) and Ford motor headquarters about lack of part issue - was told to keep calling back. Now, I am told from Ford of ocala I must drive an unsafe vehicle just for them to put me on the list for the part - not what the recall says. Recall notice states to call dealer and request a service date on or after 1-15-2018 for recall 17S42. I was told that recall is good only until 3-31-2018 and if not repaired by then, Ford will not repair..
