Power transmission problem with my 2005 Ford Taurus, and my air conditioning unit which has not worked since March of 2008. I contracted Ford main office in dearborn mi. About the problem with no effort to help. At the time of the initial problem I had 68,000 miles on the car which I bought from a dealership in March of 2008. I am really disappointed in Ford and will never buy another car from them again. I have spent over $2000 on powertrans problems which started in July of 2008. My car stayed in the powertrans shop from July-Dec of 2008 and because I had no more money to invest in this car I have not been able to use my air conditioning since owning the car. I hate summer driving for that reason. Please review and note my complaint. If there is anything I can do to get my air conditioned fixed please let me know.

Transaxle going out with no signs of problem. While driving and making turn transaxle went out while in the middle of turn in middle of intersection. Was lucky not a lot of traffic and parking lot close enough where I could coast into safely. No gears except park it was like all other gears was neutral. I am going to have transaxle replaced or rebuilt.

The torque converter on my 2005 Taurus broke (69000) which prevented me from engaging a gear. I was in my driveway when this happened and my driveway is a slight slope so trying to figure out what was happening I rolled into the street. Luckily no one was traveling on the street at the time but this could have been far more disastrous then it was.

Transmission failed with no waning. Vehicle stopped moving on highway in traffic. No forward or reverse gears. Ford refuses to acknowledge mass amounts of complaints on same type failure. Torque converter fails. All Ford knowledgeable mechanics repair these problems on regular basis. If you google "Ford Taurus torque converter problems" you will get back 51,000 hits. That is a lot for Ford to say there is no problem. It cost me $1035 to have the torque converter replaced on a 2005 model 52,000 mile vehicle. I think that is a problem. We were very lucky because when the car quit moving a semi truck came very close to running over us. I have corresponded with Ford by email and letter and they said to go away.

The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility, and a mechanic stated that the transmission motor mounts were never properly bolted on the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, and the oil and filter were replaced. The mechanic stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. No repairs were made. The current mileage was 88,665. The failure mileage was 88,661.

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus SE that I bought for my 17 year old daughter, at 52045 miles, the transmission went out. She was driving on the highway at 60mph with a semi behind her when the transmission went out, dropping her speed to 20mph. Ford will not do any thing about this problem, and after some research, I have found numerous complaints about the same thing. I don't understand, if Ford knows there is a problem, why they won't correct it. My daughter could have been killed or injured, and yet they won't claim fault. I have contacted Ford, but have been told there is nothing they can or will do.

My 2005 Ford Taurus sel with 90, xxx miles on it had its transmission fail. It is still in the shop being repaired, but at this point the torque converter and pump need to be replaced. I was told by the Ford service manager that this is a problem that Ford is aware of but is not doing nothing about. I will be out a minimum of $1,800 for a problem Ford knows about, but does nothing to help their customers. All of my miles are interstate miles and the car has been taken care of in every way. I was driving down my side street road and it was like the car went into neutral. It will not go into any gear. Luckily, I was able to coast into my driveway. The service manager said he has had to fix several of these and I talked with a local transmission mechanic and he agreed that he, too, has had to work on this model and year. Ford needs to own up and help their customers with this problem and with today's economy and all that is going on, I need help.

While driving down the road with no previous indications of trouble the car suddenly started to slow down and the RPM went up. The car came to a stop in the middle of an intersection and would not move no forward or reverse. Had the car towed to the Ford dealership and told them what happened and he stated that this was a common failure with this vehicle. The called later that day and stated that the car needs a new transmission that it has no pressure and that the could put in a remanufactured one in cheaper than repairing this one the total will be in he area of $3,100 I have googeled this and had over 147,000 hits. Sound like Ford is hiding a major defect and placing every one that drive one at a major risk. What if this had been a rr crossing? by the way the extended warranty just expired at 80,000.

Transmission slipping in 2nd & 3rd gear. Car has only 62,000 miles. Transmission will be replaced this week at $2100. Contacted Ford consumer services but no response, but really no surprise there. After much research I have found that this has been an ongoing problem with this model. Ford refuses to take responsibility - I refuse to buy another Ford. I have driven a Ford since the day I got my driver's license but after this incident Ford has lost me as a customer.

It was raining... I had the windshield wipers on. Parked and went to turn off wipers. Would not turn off, and began to smoke. I removed fuse. Replaced fuse... began to smoke again. I started having problems with the transmission of my Taurus less than one month after having the vehicle inspected and the trans flushed at a dealership as part of my lease-end purchase option (I leased the car for 3 years prior to purchasing it). The car was past the warranty at 64,500 miles and I did not purchase an extended warranty. I returned to the dealership to find out what was wrong. After running their diagnostic test, I was told that something had failed in the transmission but they were not sure what failed. They offered to diagnose the problem by breaking down the trans at a minimum of 10 hours labor at $88 an hour. I contacted Ford customer service for some assistance and was denied because they had no record of my car ever being repaired at any dealership during the life of my lease. I had no problems with my vehicle's operation prior to the transmission being flushed, so there was no reason to take it in for repairs. I had my oil changed every 3000 to 5000 miles and all fluids checked on a regular basis (not at the dealership). I took my car to a licensed transmission shop and had the trans rebuilt for $1,200 the technician told me the failed part was a boost valve in the valve body. They rebuilt the torque converter and installed a new overhaul kit and the boost valve. Eight days after picking up my car, I had to return to the transmission shop because the car was hard to start, the check transmission light came on continuously and the service engine light came on and stayed on. The technician informed me that these problems had nothing to do with the trans but was the mlps (manual lever position sensor) which I had them replace at a cost of $75. I was told by the technician that this sensor had gone bad and caused my initial transmission problems. This was a small, plastic part that the dealership missed somehow during their so-called inspection of the vehicle.

I have issues with this car when the temperature falls between 20 and 35 degrees with a coating of slush or snow from 1/4 of an inch up to 5 inches. The vehicle needs to be traveling at 40 to 65 mph and usually on a straight away such as the thruway. Sometimes when this car has issues I get a thump from the rear axle and the vehicle shifts very hard between 3rd and 4th gear. It's an automatic transmission.. in these weather conditions the vehicle will buck or surge and feels like the mechanical or electrical system is going to quit functioning.

2005 Taurus suffered"internal transmission failure" @45,000 miles. Car will be on the road 3 years in May 2007. Transmission replaced by selling dealer with motorcraft re-manufactured which now has a 3 year or 75,000 mile warranty. Repair would have been covered if this warranty was in effect! parts not available.
