Our car was purchased new on 4/29/2011 from sheehy Ford in ashland Virginia. Within the first week of ownership we experienced a serious safety issue. While driving, the car suddenly just lost all electrical power and cut off. We contacted sheehy Ford and they could not identify the cause of the problem. This happened several more times and after several trips to sheehy, they attached a device to capture the problem when it happened. We had the device in the car for several months and it occurred only one time. The device provided no help in identifying the problem. They removed the device and said that it appeared the problem had resolved itself. We did not have the problem again until September of 2015. The odometer was near 25,000 miles. We were traveling on a very curvy 55 mph road with no shoulders when we lost power and it cut off. It was then when we realized how serious a safety issue this was as a car rounding the curve behind us could have rear-ended us as we had no break lights to warn them. As a result my wife refuses to even ride in the car. Once again we took the car to sheehy Ford and they could not find the problem. They contacted the regional customer service manager for sheehy Ford and he opened case cas-7525445. He made arrangements with sheehy Ford to engage 'Ford engineering' to resolve the issue. As it turned out sheehy Ford had our car for nearly 2 weeks but merely drove it to attempt to repeat the problem. The car did not cut-off during their nearly 900 miles of driving it. In November of 2015 we contacted Ford Motor Company product claims department and they refused to resolve the issue. We had the same problem again on June 16, 2016 at approximately 29,500 miles wile driving on I-295 at 70 miles per hour.

My mother was driving down the road, and turned on the seat heater. After several minutes the seat heater overheated and burned the backs of her legs. Several days later my father turned it on, it burned through several layers of his winter clothes and left a burn mark on the leather seat. This condition is extremely unsafe, and has caused both personal injury and damage to the car.

Hello good morning I have a 2011 Ford Taurus sel and while going up a hill my car shut off while my keys were still in the ignition. My steering locked, check engine and low oil lights went on. The only thing I could do was apply brakes to the car and place it in park. I shut off the car and opened the hood to see if anything looked out of place. I checked my engine oil levels and that seemed fine. I closed the hood and turned the car back on. No check engine light or low oil? I haven't had a problem since but it seemed like an extremely dangerous situation. I see there are several complaints about the same issue.

Dear sir my 2011 Ford Taurus has shut off--------(3 times)--------now since 2012 while I was driving it with my remote key in my car. I did not make a record about it for the first two so am reporting on the latest. I have a push button ignition and remote keys. It randomly does not detect the keys as well and then it takes some pushing all the buttons on the remote to recognize I have the key there. Yesterday the dealership replaced the batteries in the remote and recommended I replace them annually. They could not offer me an explanation as to why it was not recognizing the keys when I am driving down a road and it shuts off. This is an accident thing waiting to happen. They did a diagnostic on it as well and searched the home office for any defect or recall and have none. Is this a reported incident and is there anything on it? I am reporting this because if it causes an accident I want it on the record as well. I went to Ford dealership to try and get it remedied.

The car shuts off while I am driving. There is no power steering and no nothing. Each time I have been able to get off the road and each time the car starts right back up no problems but I am afraid of what may happen the next time. This has happened at different speeds and different times of the year.the first few times I took it to the dealership they said they could not find a problem. This last time they gave me a loaner car to drive while they take a deeper look into the problem.

Was driving at 65 mph on highway when I tried to accelerate nothing happened and I noticed all dash lights were on. I coasted to shoulder, shifted to park and pushed ignition button and it restarted. This has happened 5 other times and luckily there was a shoulder available, but the holman Ford dealership, (who is the only one who has ever serviced the car), says they have no idea what the problem is. It was a very dangerous situation and I noticed GM had similar problem and recalled autos due to death!! I have been lucky but now fear this car, after 5 times. It is not a stall. It just shuts off.

I own a 2011 Ford Taurus with heated leather seats. The heating mechanism began to get hotter in spots on the back of the seat on my drive into work. I begin to feel a burning sensation on my skin as well as a burning smell in the car. I originally thought it was in the heating vents, after turning off the car and stepping out I realized it was not. When I took off my coat, I realized that the seat had burned a hole in my jacket, my sweater and I had a burn on my skin. Looking at the drivers side seat you can see burn marks as well as a hole where the heating mechanism burned through the seat and burned out.

Taurus 6-cyl

  • 5,092 miles
2011 Ford Taurus stalls out at high speeds or low speeds, anytime foot is not on accelerator pedal, and once even while backing up. Ford service says that it's because of a defective electronic throttle body, which doesn't set idle speed high enough. Technical service bulletin 10-21-6 for codes P 2111 and P 2112 was issued about this. It started Mar 25, 2011, at 5, 092 miles, and was repaired at 5,354 miles. It's occurred five times since (on Mar 29, 2011, and June 10, 2011). This has nearly caused a rear-end collision. It's not safe. Ford service replaced defective part, yet problem persists. My vehicle gives no warning, until I have no power when I depress the gas. The dash lights up "shift to park." If I'm lucky, I can get off the road to re-start, but twice I couldn't and car was nearly rear-ended. Two different dealerships have evaluated this problem with no success. One found fluctuating idle speeds, and I've noticed the rpms are changing when I don't think they should be. Cafe standards to save gas will result in people dying to save the environment. These idle speeds must be set higher! the low idle speeds do not work, and the government should quit dictating engineering to car companies to save the environment, without any regard to people's lives.

This car after six months of age it started to shut itself off for no apparent reason. Driving along, ignition just turns off, a light says shift to park. The dealer can not figure out what is wrong with it. The car has did this five times and dealer put a device on it to record this "if it does it again". very safe to be the test dummy for a car that stalls on the highway. This car is a push button start model. Ford Motor Company refuses to do admit anything is wrong with it.
