Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Transit vehicles. The steering column intermediate shaft may have been secured to the steering gear pinion shaft with an incorrect bolt, which can result in the separation of steering components and cause a loss of steering control.
Dealers will replace the steering column intermediate shaft bolt, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 22, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S48.
