Acadia 6-cyl

  • 60,060 miles
Our 2007 GMC Acadia began slipping and stutter stepping in reverse. If on a hill it was very noticeable and felt like you were slipping on ice before reverse gear would engage. Then on slow acceleration form a traffic light slippage would occur and a rough change in the gear exchange for normal traffic speed. Had it diagnosed at a reputable local repair shop and they said it was a warped wave plate and a new or rebuilt transmission was required, the repair cost with warranty would be $4,225. We took it to the dealer where we purchased the Acadia. They also diagnosed it as a defective wave plate, recommending a new transmission or at least to rebuild it. New transmission to cost $5,890 the wave plate on the 2007 Acadia'shave caused a great many problems for other owners and its reported they were not properly heat treated when manufactured. They break apart after just so many engages caused when shifting and almost always shortly after the 50,000 mile warranty. Filed a complaint with GM requesting assistance with repairs due to a faulty part they should have been aware of. They said they would get back to me, but never did. We repaired it at the local repair shop costing $4,225.23 cents with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty.

10/27/2014 - 2007 GMC Acadia transmission slips continually until it had a complete failure at 111,000. I called GM and opened claim. Google Acadia transmission problems, why has this transmission not been recalled? GM failed to harden these wave plates in the 2007 & 2008 GMC Acadia. There are documented failures out there as soon as 25,000 miles. This transmission is such a piece of junk. The local transmission shop works on this transmission more than any other. Please help us the bill for transmittion to be fixed is almost $4500

2007 GMC Acadia transmission slips continually until it had a complete failure at 127,000 needing 2,3,5 and reverse wave plates. Google Acadia transmission problems, why has this transmission not been recalled" GM failed to harden these wave plates in the 2007 & 2008 GMC Acadia along with the clone cars in the GM line up. There are documented failures out there as soon as 25,000 miles. This transmission is such a piece of junk. The local transmission shop works on this transmission more than any other. Did the NHTSA stop holding GM accountable for gross negligence after the bailout" I guess the only recourse is to take matters into our own hands like MINIcooper drivers and become part of a class action lawsuit.

The transmission went out. I only have 70K miles on the car and we had to replace the entire transmission. It cost me several thousand dollars to get it fixed! I am thankful that when it happened, my husband was pulling into a parking lot and not going down a freeway with our children in the car. As I investigate this issue with the 2007 Acadia's I'm finding that the transmission failure is a huge issue! please GMC fix this problem before lives are lost.

Acadia

  • 54,150 miles
Transmission failure. We were driving out of town on an interstate highway approximately 65 mph and engine suddenly revved indicating that the transmission was disengaged. Could not accelerate and had to coast to the side of the road in a construction zone. There was no warning of the impending failure other than some transmission slippage earlier in the trip. Transmission did not work at all in drive or reverse. Had to be towed to an out of town shop and rent a car to get back home. Repair shop stated that transmission had failed and needed to be replaced (approx. $4,500) and that it was a common problem. Shocking that it failed at such low mileage. We were advise by our local repair shop to contact GM but they have not contacted us back. We have no choice but to get the repairs done so we have the vehicle back. I just wanted to include our incident along with the many other complaints. We will warn other Acadia owners who we know of the problem (Acadias are common where we live) and the many other problems that it has (based on the numerous other complaints and service bulletins).

Driving on highway on labor day. Suddenly my GMC Acadia transmission starts slipping and I am in heavy traffic. My vehicle starts slowing down and I have no control of speed. Lucky for me and my son I was able to maneuver my car to the side of the road without creating an accident. I look online to find that this is a common problem for many cars with this transmission. Why is this not a recall??

Steering locks up when driving down the road causing you to lose all control of your vehicles steering. We almost hit traffic light and hit by a semi on the interstate. Also transmission failed and will loose all power when your driving down the road. This vehicle is dangerous to drive and is a very common problem. This needs to be recalled or a class action lawsuit needs to be opened. This vehicle only has 88,000 miles on it and is a hazard to drive.

Acadia 6-cyl

  • 102,800 miles
On highway, transmission was stuck and would not shift. Check engine light turned on. Was attempting to merge onto busy highway and due to high engine revving and not shifting had to keep the vehicle under 45 mph. Merging was dangerous and had to drive under very busy conditions and leave the highway quickly. Did so luckily and returned home safely. Once home with self-purchased diagnostics tool read error codes P0017, P0716 and P0700, some pertaining to timing chain stretch (known issues on this vehicle) and transmission plate issues (also known). GM has never contacted me regarding these and I consider this vehicle unsafe with very little warning about what appear to be 2 manufacturer-known (GMC) issues regarding timing chain stretch and faulty transmissions right at about the time power train warranties expire. We are just over the warranty expiration of 100,000 miles on powertrain and are staring at significant expense and a car we just don't trust anymore.

Acadia 6-cyl

  • 35,015 miles
Transmission slipping jerks and bumps when shifting. Passengers noted there was issues also. Loses power going up hills. Took it to cochran Pontiac for two years and did not correct situation, since there were no codes on the computer even though the car had no power and was jerking. Engine light, antilock braking, no rear sensors, and the fuel gauge lights are now on after another dealer fixed transmission and I had to pay $1,500 and I should have not paid anything. I did not have these lights on my dash board when I went to get the transmission fixed and the dealer has not fixed them. Recently, my car lost power and died on a blind dangerous curve and shut down the engine. I was afraid to get hit and felt my car was unsafe. We put gas in and would not start and engine was hot. I had to have it towed to dealer after two weeks from getting the transmission repaired and told dealer transmission has noises in it and engine was hot and car would not start. They called and said it was out of gas and runs now, however, they did not address the issues noted above for all of the lights that were on the dash board. The gas was not the issue before car was towed since we put gas in there when it broke down. This 2007 Acadia has had issues since 2011 that continue to present and this SUV is known to have many recalls and is unsafe. The car was taken to the dealer numerous times with complaints by the customer.

I was on my way to work. Stopped at light. Light changed. I attempted to move and could not accelerate over 10 mph. Turned the corner. Had to pull into a business parking lot which is where I was stuck until a tow truck came because I could not move forward. I was told by the mechanic who repaired the transmission that I was not the only one he had seen who had problems with this particular transmission. Also, if you google 2007 Acadia transmission, you will see several, several individuals with the same problem.

Driving along at approx. 25mph and transmission suddenly lost power. The car was turned off and on randomly to apply power to the transmission for a couple of minutes to drive it back home. Thank god I had just left home! never, ever received a notice from GMC nor the dealer regarding power train problems. The car has been sitting since then (now going on approx 8 mos. Because I have not been able to afford approx. $3,500 for a new transmission. The saddest part... I don't even have a notification as to where to take it to get repaired.

Vehicle would not shift properly and reverse would not work. Had GMC fix the transmission but I had to come out of pocket as it was under mileage for the warranty but past the date by a few months. Today 5/2/14, I'm being told that the transmission is going out again 1 year and 4 months after they fixed it. GMC says they only warranty for 1 year. Unsafe vehicle for a transmission to be replaced by GMC twice within 1 1/2 years and under 115,000 miles.
