The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. While accelerating from a stop sign and making a left turn, the power steering failed. The contact crashed into a tree. There were no warning indicators illuminated, but a recurring noise could be heard in the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired for the power steering failure. The front end damage was repaired. Several times prior to the crash, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump needed replacement. The power steering pump was replaced. The driver was not injured and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 56,155. Updated 01/06/17 updated 7/5/18 the consumer stated safety defect was repaired.

I have an airbag warning light on and and a message on the display. Took to dealer and the said they already performed the recall that was on the vehicle and wanted to charge me $675 to open up the dash and see what is wrong. The code that comes up is too high resistance in airbag system. I am filing this complaint for two reasons, one is how do I know they actually performed the procedure in the first place and, two can't it be defective again. My concern is safety in nature that my airbag won't open in an accident.

I have a check airbags on my display panel when ibrought my car to the GM dealer they told me I had to replace the harness under my seat. I inquired if there was a recall on this and the dealership told me no. I see now that there is a recall on this but that my vehicle is not covered by it. I am hoping that you could direct me on how I can get GM to correct this problem under your recall order so I would not have to pay to correct their mistake.

Recently we had a lot of rain and I noticed it once before when it rains constantly water entered the inside of the car. Had the car checked everything seemed okay but on 2 October 2016 the rain was coming in the care through the airbags and when I turned the car off the engine kept running. The following morning no rain but the car wouldn't start and the key got stuck in the ignition. I find this to be costly when the battery not even a year old. Just need to have this issue resolve because putting my car in a garage on rainy days is not an option for me.

I have noticed before after a rain the windshield would fog really bad so I figured I had a small roof leak, however I didn't know it was a major leak. I open the door and noticed both front floor boards are wet. I vacuum it out and get about 8 gallons of water out. It wouldn't start so after locating the battery in the passenger floor board the battery box was full of water. I vacuum that out. I let it dry for a while and jump it off. It cranked fine and I let it idle for a while. I closed the doors with windows down with it still running and put a fan in the front seat. It was sitting in my garage running, with a box fan in the front seat blowing, I shut the doors with the windows down, and about 30 seconds after I shut the door I am standing beside it and hear a loud explosion. I look over and both side curtain like air bags had deployed. The car shuts off, the flashers come on. After I gain my composure from being scared to death from the noise, I reach in and turn the key off. After that I disconnected the battery because I was then afraid it may blow more air bags or short out and catch fire. I did some research online and notice there are tons of complaints about the roof leaks, there are a few technical bulletins that GM has about it as well, however there was no recall since it isn't a safety issue. Well, if the roof leak is getting enough water in the vehicle that it causes the air bags to deploy for no reason, I believe this is a real safety concern. I am just grateful I wasn't driving it and my 2 young kids were not in the vehicle when it happened. I just bought less than 6 months ago from a dealer. I don't know what to do at this point, so far I just called my insurance company. Any suggestions on what to do next? the pics are of water in the car prior to the air bags deploying.

I had a recall for my driver side, side impact air bag wire harness. The dealer in duluth mn (kolar) fixed it but light came on for check engine. Brought it back and they are telling me it is the pps sensor for the passenger airbag. There is a recall for this, but not on my Acadia. They want $600 plus labor to replace. Totaling around $950. Had another recall for the power lift gate, stating that the struts could possibly fail prematurely, causing the power lift gate to drop. As I was loading the back of the vehicle, the lift gate suddenly dropped on my head. I brought it to kolar in duluth mn and told them that the struts from the recall were shot and needed replacement. I picked the vehicle up after a day of them telling me that the recall had been successful. A week after I took the car home, the lift gate fell on my wife. I come to find out that kolar never replaced the struts, even after me talking to the mechanic and him assuring me that they would be changed out. It is now sitting at the dealer waiting for back ordered struts to come in to be installed.

The airbag on/off lights would both light up at the same time so you didn't know if it was functioning properly. The warning "service airbag" came on. This was while driving any speed, any type road, also while the car was in park. Key would not come out of ignition, the engine would turn off but electrical would still be working. Also the power saver mode kicked in and we had to have the vehicle jumped.

I made a previous complaint filed here under NHTSA id number: 10765088. The local garber GMC dealership sealed the sunroof and cleaned the clogged hoses that drain water from the roof. They also replaced the passenger side airbag for a total of $600. They gave a guarantee that there would be no more leaks. On November 18 the car began leaking from the front passenger side airbag area and water poured from the roof onto the glove compartment when I made a full stop. Currently awaiting a return call from the service manager of GMC dealer. I have video of the problem. I was driving in the rain from one college campus location to another, in other words many stop and go and side streets at 30 mph or less. The car made squealing noises as well which happened last time too (September of this year).

Rain leak into car, water pouring into frame and trapped in frame of car, roof of car. Water leaking out of airbag locations. When we drive, we can hear water moving around in frame, see water leaking out of airbag areas in frame of car. Water trapped inside frame of car, rotting inside of car, mold, mildew potential, fire hazard. GMC says they are not responsible for repairs, car no longer under warranty. How can I safely drive a vehicle in which both the airbags and electrical system is compromised??

Air bag lights on dash came on saying "service airbag", took to my mechanic and he read the codes which came back as 20 & 81 for the main passenger side airbag. He said it means it's not getting a reading and possible solutions were either the sensor or module for the airbag needing replacement. He advised me it was very dangerous because the airbag is essentially not working and if an accident were to occur that it would probably not deploy. He also stated only a certified dealership could fix it and they want $150 just to diagnose the problem even though I've already had it diagnosed. I feel anything having to do with airbags on a vehicle should be taken care of by the manufacturer whether or not the vehicle is under warranty, especially since no one will repair them besides a dealership and that is a huge safety issue. People can die!

Car would not start and had to jump off. When I did this I went to turn off and had the key out and the car kept running for around a minute before finally stalling. Did this several times with the same result. I then took it to dealership. After a day they called and informed me that the windshield was allowing water in at the passenger side and fuse panel under glove box was full of water and corroded. They advised a new windshield as mine had a small star crack in it and needed to be resealed. That along with recommending a new fuse panel. They checked all drain lines for sunroof and said they were fine. Paid the bill for this at $799.58 with assurance that water issue was fixed. Well one week later and the first rain since after sitting in light rain for 2 hours and driving 20 minutes I noticed water dripping into both floorboards from a post. I will be taking back to dealership tomorrow with them still not aknowledging anything about water problems.

I purchased this vehicle, and was told there were no active recalls and nothing wrong with vehicle, the dealership supposedly had took it through a hundred point inspection, immediately, the air bag light came on, it started losing anti-freeze and the check engine light came on, after several trips to the service dept at this Toyota dealership, I am still having issues, they fixed the small things like the water pump, the rear wiper blade, electrical but the engine light still comes on and I had it checked out and it is the transmission, it is going out, and the air bag (service air bag soon) is still on, but was supposedly fixed by a recall in 2011, either it was a bad part, or it was not serviced at all. I have been driving for 40 years and I have always been a loyal GM owner, especially the Buick lasabre which I drove for 15 years, but I am not happy with the quality of this vehicle and the dealership that I purchased it at, and they are rated by the BBB as a. I also do not like the fact that on GM commercials it states non GM owners, like come on in, we will take care of non GM owners but not the loyal ones. I think it very important to stick with american brands and love GM, just very dissatisfied with this one. I think GM should fix this car, the air bag and especially the transmission!!!!updated 11/10/15
