The contact owns a 2010 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the driver parked the vehicle, turned the engine off and removed the key, but the engine continued to operate. The battery cable had to be detached in order for the vehicle to power off. After ten minutes, the contact reconnected the battery and restarted the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to a dealer who diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled for the repair. The failure mileage was 88,000.

Most of the Acadia's 2007-2012 are affected by the timing chain being lose and GM has acknowledged this and extended the warranty. However, for some reason mine is not covered but is having this problem. Now I am $3600 out of pocket for the repair.

Check engine light came on. Took it to dealer and was told the error code indicated the timing chain tension was loose. Dealer said they would have to remove the engine to repair the timing chain. I was told by the dealer that this was a common problem with this engine and that all of the cars built in 2007, 2008, and 2009 were recalled and the warranty was extended to cover this problem. They said that the problem was resolved and the problem no longer affects this engine. It seems that the problem has not been fixed because the same problem has happened to my 2010 GMC Acadia. The dealer agreed that this is the same problem but GMC will not cover the repair on this vehicle. I have reached out to General Motors customer care department but they will not help with this issue. I was told that they changed suppliers and the timing chain problem is no longer a problem. Well it sure seems like it still is a problem. I have a friend that has the same vehicle same year and his check engine light is on. I asked him to have it checked and he has the same problem. I can give you the owners name and VIN if needed to verify. I have changed the oil at the recommended intervals and have receipts for all maintenance. I found this information for reference " the NHTSA and GM reference numbers for the tsb- NHTSA reference- 10043857 tsb reference- sb-11340.

Vehicle is low mileage 62,500 miles just past 5 years by 3 months. Timing chain started making noise for about a two weeks and get louder and check engine light came on due to mis fire. Vehicle is driven by middle age female with not even a minor accident in 35 years. Vehicle was maintained with regular oil changes. No apparent reason for the timing chain to make noise to the point of misfire. Called dealer, bob ross GMC in dayton Ohio on loop road and they refused to help out, claiming that it out of warranty, too bad sir. Called GM and was told same. We asked if they have any reported problem on same issue and was told no. Well, they lied to me or not even checking. I checked this site and there were three reports of same timing chain. Need to hold dealer and GM to own up to their defected parts. No rule made them to do that. I am voting with my feet. Never buy a GM vehicle again !!!!!!

After my 2010 Acadia sat in a hotel parking lot for 19 hours after a drive from san diego to Kansas City, it overheated the minute I started it. The air started blowing warm air, it stated "powering down engine", & the temp gage maxed out. I immediately turned off the car. At less than 36K on a car that has been driven minimally, this should never happen. And now.... since it is "over 3 years old", it's probably not covered. $40K vehicle with 30K miles on it and already overheating? we had our vehicle for the last 2.5 years in Hawaii, so it's not a climate problem. :-/

As car was accelerating to 30 mph in a lane of traffic into a turn, I heard a loud noise. Then, I couldn't move the steering wheel. I tried to pump the brakes, but the car did not stop immediately. I had no control over the steering, and the car eventually stopped in a parking lot. I was petrified. The radio was still on, and the key was still in the on position, but the key could not be turned. GMC simi valley says the problem was a rod to a cylinder that snapped, and was not due to an ignition problem, or related to a current recall. The whole engine needs to be replaced, almost the value of the car, given its current resale value. I would like to request an investigation into another recall event.

First happened at 75000 with engine and electrical system shut down. Doors don't work and radio/bluetooth works when it wants too. Exposed wires got fixed because of moisture. Steering power failure at low speed and emergency maneuvers. The dealerships cant fix it although they know its the steering pump. At 93000 a systemic failure of electrical systems again. New dealer fixed supposedly the wires again, still exposed. The car electrical does not perform over 76 degrees outside temperature. Power steering is a problem and getting worse. Finding that there are more problems with power steering from 2013 and lower models.
