Recall 99V193000/ABS: While traveling on the street at 40 mph; brakes were applied to slow vehicle down. Because of vehicle in front, more pressure was needed to be applied on the pedal. This caused brake pedal to go to the floor, and extended stopping distance occurred which resulted in a collision. Vehicle towed to dealer's shop. However, recall notice received after the accident.

I was pulling into my driveway, when the engine started running eratically. When I started to slow down I noticed the brake pedal was hard and it was very difficult to stop. Fortunetly I was going slow or I would have literally gone through my garage. I was able to get the car to a mechanic who replaced the egr valve.

My S. Jimmy required new front brakes at approx. 18,000 miles which my warranty covered. Know I find out at 35,567 miles I had to replace my front brakes again due to the ABS braking system that wears the brakes down to replacement status, after approx. 18,000 miles. I questioned the dealership as to what was happening. The service advisor informed me that all S-Jimmy's for 1995 to current has the same problem. A defect with the ABS system is causing total front brake replacement on all these vehicles. I do not consider paying for new front brakes every 18,000 miles normal maintenance. GM should reimburse me the $177.71 and come up with a recall to fix this defect.
