I started my truck to pull out of my driveway Monday 7-1-2013 brake pedal hit the floor..checking the system I found fluid leak under rear of truck. Line rust color, leak, air coming from line. Called mechanic. Will have results next week. Truck has to be towed..if I had been driving I would have been in a crash...this situation needs serious attention......I am blessed. Will update from mechanic next week.

I was backing out of my driveway when my brakes went to the floor, always noticed how rusty the truck is underneath, and the outside looks like new. What had happen is a whole in my brake line.I done some research and noticed about 6 million other people have had the same issue..definitely think GM should pay for new brake lines, why would they build a vehicle that's not safe for at least 15 years..don't think I'll ever own another GM product.

Brake pedal went to floor due to premature brake line failure. Was able to down shift and curb the vehicle to stop in time.

I was in a driveway and attempted to stop to turn onto the main road, when I pressed the brakes they went to the floor. I used the park brake to stop and returned home. I found the leak, it is on the brake line where a group of four lines run along the frame under the drivers seat.

Excessive rust build up on brake rotors and calipers. Rotors & pads previously replaced in Mar., 2007 after driving 40,000 miles. Needed replacement again in Oct., 2009 after only driving 14,000 additional miles. Instrument cluster failed and was replaced in June, 2011 at 58,000 miles. Dealer advised no recall on this model, although identical instrument clusters for newer vehicles had been recalled and were being replaced at no charge.

I was coming upon a red light behind other traffic. I stepped down on the brakes to stop, and the peddle felt spongy. I tried pumping them, then nothing. I avoided hitting the truck in front of me by swerving across into the other lane and pulling into a parking lot, were I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop. The brake warning light never came on, and I don't understand while it was a total brake failure, I thought that's why there is a dual reservoir, and there was still plenty of fluid in both. Upon inspection, I saw the brake lines were all severely corroded, and the one going to the rear brakes was split. I know I live in Michigan, and the truck is rusty(thanks again GM) but I have cars over 40 years old with original lines on them with absolutely no corrosion on them. This is a substandard part, that needs to be recalled before more people are injured or killed.

As I was approaching a stoplight, my brake pedal went to the floor. I limped it around the corner and found a hole in a hard brake line. I had it repaired by a certified mechanic. Now a second rupture has occurred. This seems to be a result of corrosion.

Stopped in my driveway to get newspaper and mail. I got back into the truck and applied the brake to shift into drive. The brake pedal went to the floor. I coasted up the driveway and was able to stop. When I got out of the truck there was a trail of brake fluid. The leak was coming from under the driver's seat area, where the brake line attached to the ABS pump. My mechanic had to replace all of the brake lines.
