I almost hit a deer when the vehicle was new as I could not see it until it was next to the passenger door, standing still. I had the dealer adjust the lights three times and install the GMC update, on the computer. I now have a blob of white light fall on the center line and another blob in the center of the driving lane. There is no light illuminating far forward or to the sides as should be. I talked with the dealer and there are no further updates for now. I have since had several close calls. I have driven professionally in the past.

Today for the first time I drove my 2014 Sierra Texas edition in the rain at night.... wow>>>>> I had to stop and wait for the rain downpour to let out so I could see where I was going. Not good. Driving at night is very stressful and eye straining to the point of taking headache medications once you are done driving. And GM still says there is nothing wrong. The projector beam headlights on my 2 year old GMC Sierra are, and have been, noticeably dim to the point of being a safety concern. It's as if trying to drive at night while wearing dark sunglasses. In addition to being dim, there's also the problem of side illumination. I can see some of the road ahead, but can't see the ditches on either side of the road. I consider this lack of side illumination to also be a safety issue, especially when negotiating turns or curves. Using high beams offers little, if any improvement. The high beams only seem to shine higher (tree top height), but offer no real increase in either side illumination or actual brightness. The "eye lids" lift, but poor illumination remains unchanged. About the only option is for me to drive with the fog lights on. Using fog lights at least gives a bit more side illumination, but still does nothing to assist with "down the road" illumination. I've been surprised at such poor lighting being installed on an otherwise great truck. These projector beam headlights were supposedly offered as part of premium packages. If these headlights are GMC's best, I'm sure glad I didn't get the cheaper lights! my only hope is that GMC will offer some type of headlight upgrade, possibly led lights.

Headlights are dangerous! dealer performed update( new bulbs and increase voltage to BCM) but improvement was minimal. Have even tried led conversion, with very litle improvement. I have had several veihcles with projector system, and had zero complaints. I have looked a projector lens on other vehicles, and they do not have impurities (tiny air bubbles) in the lens. I believe the problem lies in the sub-par lenses.this creates an extremely dangerous situation for night driving.

I traded a 2011 GMC Sierra on this 2014 GMC Sierra (sle / double cab / 4.3L V6), plus still have a 2012 GMC Sierra, and the lights on these 2 when compared to the 2014 GMC were / are like night and day - the 2014 GMC Sierra is positively dangerous to drive at night - lights are disgusting - high beam on 2014 GMC is worse than low beam on my earlier GMC Sierra's. took copy of "carcomplaint.com" report on headlight problem to dealership, but they said GM has not provided them with any info' of "supposed" problem, nor can they offer a solution. Have reported this problem 3 times - no action, an no concern either, in my opinion.

Clock and outside air temp readings are so small, you can't see them, without taking your eyes off the road, long enough to bend over close to the radio. This is as bad as someone using a cell phone to send and receive text. I have driven off the road twice, but have not crashed yet. My GM dealer says, the readings can not be made larger, and to be very careful.

2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle headlights design problems. The consumer stated he discovered the headlights only had one bulb, which meant the high and low beams had to be adjusted as one unit. He exited the vehicle and measured the distance from the vehicle to where the visibility ended. The distance was 130 feet on both sides of the road. Also, on a turn of 90 or 120 degrees, there was no side lighting which meant he had to slow down to a crawl in order to make a turn. In addition, when going down hill, the visibility of the lights decreased to about 20-20 feet. The dealer raised the lights about factory specs. He could see a little better, but the high beams were 20-30 feet in the air and were useless. MA 08/05/15 the consumer stated during inclement weather visibility decreases to 20-30 feet/40 feet max. The headlights on the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 are not adequate for night time rural driving. On 7 Oct 2014 at approx. 5:30am a deer ran into the side of my truck hitting just behind the driver's side front wheel because I was not able to see it in time to avoid hitting it because of the poor headlight lighting design of the truck. If the headlight lighting design on the truck was adequate I would have been able to avoid hitting the deer.the low beams do not light up the shoulder of the road enough or in front of you for more than approx. 50' to 75' (that's probably being generous) and the high beams are just as bad and point up in the air. The NHTSA should immediately do something about this and make GM fix this problem before someone is killed or seriously injured or is that what you are waiting on to happen before you do something about this problem. I know you have received numerous complaints about this problem and so has GM but to date I haven't seen any action taken. Is this gonna be another cover up by GM with your help because both you and GM are aware of the problem before you take action or are you gonna do what you are suppose to do and keep us safe on the highways. It was the govt that bailed them out when they were going bankrupt not so long ago so why isn't the govt (NHTSA) helping the public now and bailing us out to fix this problem.

There truly is no accident at this time. However... if this condition isn't corrected, there will be accidents. These may result in not only loss of life or property, but possible criminal prosecution. The issue: The projector headlamp design of the 2014 GMC Sierra is extremely subpar for lighting the roadway ahead of you. Individuals, in order to not "outdrive" their lights, would probably have to go below posted minimum speed limits on highways, presenting yet another issue for the driver as well as those who would approach from the rear in nighttime driving conditions. I contacted GMC... aware of the issue. No help at this time. I got the impression from the operator that "not enough people have filed complaints." I'm guessing that when the catastrophic and tragic happens, it will not matter that not enough people filed complaints... officially. Slight research on the internet will show many individuals complaining about the issue. But GMC's admission that they are "aware" but are taking no action at this point is very disturbing. I would have thought that design issues would have had to be cleared by an oversight Agency of some sort" I just discovered the extremely scary feeling of "driving in the dark"... basically... after having my truck since thanksgiving. But I drive mostly in the daylight, and have been on interstate 20 in one of the busiest sections with traffic at night... not realizing how much others' lights were helping. When driving alone on a rural road, however, it is tantamount to driving with a flashlight when it comes to safety. I am wanting to trust that the Agency tasked with safety will please look into this issue? before someone or multiples lose their lives and lawsuits ensue"
