Transmission will not engage in any gear, has gone completely nonfunctional. I have researched the problem and notice that every complaint is the same regrading the transmission. Same mileage as others and this problem occurs, there needs to be a recall on this matter.

My 2011 GMC Terrain while driving 45 miles down road the lose of power light came on and the car immediately slowed down causing me to almost have a accident. The car would run but shake real badly. I stopped the car and turned off for 5min and restarted and was able to make it home but had to do this at least 3 times getting there.I don't know what is going on, but I do know I almost lost my life in the process. My car seems to burn aiot of oil too here lately, like its drinking water.

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. While driving, the transmission was shifting into a lower gear and the vehicle could not exceed 2 mph. The vehicle was pulled over and towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine seized. The contact researched and learned that the failure was due to the engines of the 2011 GM models. Denooyer Chevrolet (127 wolf rd, albany, NY 12205, (518) 458-7700) stated that there was no recall for the failure and admitted that there was no way the contact could have known the engine would seize. The manufacturer agreed with the dealer and informed the contact that they had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer and pay for labor costs. The manufacturer stated that they may consider paying 10% of the total repair cost. The vehicle was currently at the independent mechanic and had not been repaired. The manufacturer called back and stated that they might help pay off the vehicle loan as long as the contact purchased another GM vehicle. The failure mileage was 81,000.

ABS light is on even after fixing the supposed problem. System stabilitrak constantly on. Excessive use of oil. 2 to 3 quartz every 2 weeks. Reduced engine power comes up on dash and no matter how fast I am going (15 mph or 80 mph on a highway) it doesnt matter my car will slow down or just shut off. Also happens when I have to hit braked hard, slow down or accelerate from a stopped position. I am also using a lot of gas.

The car was taken into steven lust automotive and we were told that a transfer seal needed to be replaced and that GMC was aware of the issue but would only warranty the issue if the car was produced in a certain factory. Same year same model all having same issue but produced in a different plant. Now the stabililtrac warning comes on and from research on the web this is a common issue that they are aware of also but refuse to fix. This car only has 66000 miles on it. We also contacted GMC and they told us that they are aware of the problem but will not warranty it unless is was produced at a certain factory. When the stabilitrac warning was noted I was driving down the highway and the engine just shut down. I do believe this issue is due to the excessive oil leak coming from the seal. This is the second time that I have placed this complaint. When I called to confirm that I placed the complaint no one could find it.

Rear main seal blew. I was told that my rear main seal had blown B/C moisture can get in and freeze and since it was so cold the pressure caused the seal to blow. I started the car ahead of time B/C it was in the single digits. When I went outside to leave I noticed some smoke coming from the engine area. I immediately drove to the dealership. As I was driving I noticed some hesitation upon acceleration. Thankfully I did not have to drive the highway to get to the dealership. As soon as I got it to the service department they told me that there was oil leaking under my car to the point that they had to add 3.5 quarts of oil before they could move it to a service bay. After a short examination of the car I was told that the rear main seal had blown. I also found out that 10 other cars had the same issue at the same dealership that same day and 4 the next day. I checked for recalls and found GM service bulletin 14882 but was told that B/C my car VIN number was not the on their list and was manufactured at a different plant that mine would not fall under the recall. It should not matter where the car was manufactured it is obviously a defective part or design. If it a defective part or design it should be fixed on all cars and not just some as I was informed the same parts were used at the different plants. I was fortunate that this did not cause a major accident when the car hesitated to accelerate.

We purchased a 2011 GMC Terrain May 29th 2018 used with 70000 miles from the hazleton Nissan from the hazleton auto mall here in pa. It now has 78000. Had two oil changes done already. There is definitely a excessive oil consumption problem with this vehicle as I just got a oil change hut the 50 percent oil life and having issues again. We have contacted hazleton Nissan found out they were closing after signing a " set for life" contract which had a powertrain warranty. Now I cannot use my warranty.anyway I was driving home tonight from work on interstate 81 when the car without warning just cut off and lost all power. He got it to the side of the highway and had to put it in neutral and restart it. After it started he brought it to a gas station where it had stalled again. Got it almost home and stalled again. God forbid my children were in this car when this car decided to cut off and he had no brakes no steering nothing. Nissan in hazleton was aware of this and I can't even use my warranty that they signed and I signed. I was promised something that I cannot use. GMC had a call from us around 73000 miles and I told them it was clicking and stalling. They wouldn't touch it bc Nissan is the one who sold it to me and the contract was with them, but they are no longer open so what do I do now" I cannot afford a huge fix hence why I got this car bc the warranty and I wouldn't have to pay for anything if it fell under the powertrain which it is. If I needed a new motor I would get one for free see what I am saying? someone could seriously get hurt or even die and this is our only vehicle can someone please help me" kept up with all oil changes also. This is very dangerous and should be fixed. I fear for my wife and children as they always are using this car.

Vehicle was financial 18 months ago, on Thursday, July 26 approximately 11P.M. I heard racing of the motor and when I approached the traffic light at a main highway, the car stopped moving just racing of the motor when pressing the gas petal in gear then L moved the gear in rear with no movement then moved the gear back to drive with no movement. The car diagnosis codes are PO700 and PO796 I am very disappointed after only having the Terrain 1.5 years with an ongoing payment. This was my dream car.

After a 2 hour highway drive I noticed the vehicle began running loud, a rattling noise coming from the engine as I was getting off the highway. After parking and shutting the vehicle down and letting it rest, I went to restart it. Again it was still loud but quickly shut itself off and would not start back up. Upon inspection, the timing chain went out causing, to quote the service manager, "catastrophic engine damage" that was well beyond able to be repaired.

I was having problems with my brakes making noise so I took the car in for service, I was told the brakes was fine; however the noise continued and a month late I took it back and was told I needed pads, rotors and that the left cv axle was rusted and needed to be replaced. 2 days later I was told my car was ready and that the cv axle was replaced. I left and within 30 minutes as I was about to get on the highway, I heard a pop and lose all control of the Terrain, my the only way I could stop the vehicle was by placing the emergency brakes, the car was making a loud noise. I put it in parked and it continue to roll until I turned it off. Even the tow truck driver stated that the car was rolling in the park position. I'm thankful that I and my kids were not killed because I literally had no control of the car. Now that the car has been towed back to the dealership, I was told the new cv axle was malfunctioned. Honestly, I'm still paying for this vehicle and do not feel safe driving it.

I was driving on the highway and the car cut off as soon as I slowed down getting off the exit. I started the car back up and it said that the stabilitrack was off and that I was losing engine power. I got to safety, checked my fluids and I had no oil in the car. But I changed the oil recently and had 3,000 more miles till my next oil change. I towed the car to my mechanic and described what happened. He told me that their was an internal engine failure that caused the timing belt to break. I called my insurance and they had a field adjuster look at the vehicle and he nor the mechanic could figure out why or how this happened on such a well maintained vehicle. They both stated that there is no way that I should have had 2 major system failures (I just replaced the transmission) with the current vehicle mileage. I called GMC and they will not so anything to help me. Their only solution is for me to tow it to a GMC dealership and they will look at it. I could've died in this car, I still owe on this car and they won't help me.
