This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician of a concern on vehicles where the power lift gate binds or makes a popping noise when operated the gate also may not stay open. In most cases no diagnostic trouble codes will be set. The concern is most likely caused by the passenger side strut binding between the inner and outer tubes. Replace the passenger side strut and only if the concern is still present replace the driver side actuator.
