I have contacted Honda regarding both these problems. They have agreed to pay 25% of the total cost. I feel that since there are so many complaints about both these problems for this year car there should be a recall - even the Honda mechanic told me that if I traded this car in Honda cars of corona would have to repair both items before they sold the car because they are safety problems. Honda should pay the entire cost.

While putting car into drive consumer tapped accelerater and car took off at about 40 mph. The only way to stop vehicle was to hit another car. Also, airbags deployed, and car was full of smoke inside. Car has been towed to a Honda dealer. The consumer had a second accident under indentical circumstances. The manufacturer investigated the first accident but did not acknowledge that the vehicle was defective. The consumer had contacted the manufacturer again and is waiting for response.

While driving at 70 mph with cruise control on, consumer noticed hood was vibrating, consumer leaned forward to turn off the cruise control and applied the brakes, and the driver's side air bag deployed, causing the consumer to lose control of the vehicle for about five seconds. Vehicle's wheels were on the grass. After inspection at Honda dealership, they found an one inch hole in the bottom of the steel plate under the air bag deceleration detector. It is believed a metal object hit the bottom of the car and set off the air bags.
