2000 V6 Honda Accord died without warning at a stoplight and since then it has become more frequent over shorter and shorter time periods/distances. During the first few several occurrences like this it just died either while stopped or while running but could be re-started by putting car into park gear and re-starting. No warning, no sputtering, no shaking and so on prior to any of the dying. The only indication it has died is the dash panel indicator lights would all be on as though the car was just being started. During re-start the dash panel lights would be lit like they should be just prior to starting. Now as of yesterday the pattern has changed to still dies and the dash panel lights come on but when you shift to park and then try to re-start none of the dash panel lights come on and all you hear is the cranking of the engine but not starting. Eventually after a few minutes (1-5 minutes) of being off you could then re-start the car and the dash panel lights would light up prior to the re-start like they should. Unfortunately toward the end of yesterday that pattern again changed to where the lights would not come on during the attempt to re-start even after 40 minutes. I called Honda on 06/18/2013 and spoke to an agent and told her that I believe this is the same issue that Honda had a recall for dealing with the ignition switch under recall#:36754 in the usa and also another in Canada for the identical issue my Accord is demonstrating. Honda seems to want to hid behind the idea that if my VIN is not in the recall then I am out of luck. This is a life threatening driving condition the car dies while moving without warning. I am sure they are other owners with this same issue (web is full of owners decreeing this issue) that have just had car repaired but never filed report here to bring issue to your organization's attention.

Problems with Honda Accord car.
- Chicago, IL, USA
I started my car and put it in reverse in a parking garage as I was attempting to exit the garage. The car accelerated while I was in reverse, slamming into two parked vehicles. The car then accelerated forward, slamming into a concrete column and coming to a rest. I attempted to slam on my brakes but the car would not stop. It felt like my accelerator was stuck rather than a problem with the brakes.

The issue is I can remove the ignition key without the shift lever being in "park" on my 2000 Honda Accord, VIN [xxx]. there is a current recall, but the dealer states it does not apply to my vehicle. It should be added to the recall. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Replacement of left and right hub and bearing on the rear of the car. Of all the cars I owned and the cars that freinds and family have this is the first time that anyboby has heard of replacing these parts. All of my cars have over 180,000 miles on them.

Car was taken to the moreno valley Honda and spreen Honda regarding transmission problems and we were told that the transmission was fine. My husband owns a transmission repair shop and had to tell spreen Honda what was wrong with the transmission. I finally called Honda's main office and it took them about a week to remedy the problem. Home office contacted the dealer and requested the transmission be replaced. Spreen Honda had the car for several weeks and did not offer rental car or reimbursement. Terrible customer service all around. My husband could have fixed the problem but the car was about 2 years old and under warranty when the problems started to occur. The brakes are constantly squeeking even after replacement. The material on the rear interior door handles has melted. Passenger seat belts are extremely tight. This 2000 Honda Accord SE has been a total disappointment.

Engine check light came on for the second time within a year. The first time I was told that the computer was too sensitive and they had to order a new computer - wait was approx 3-4 months. This happened at 3600 miles and was covered under warranty. Less than a year later the engine check light came on, and the dealer told me it was oxygen sensor and it had to be replaced. The emission control system is unreliable for this to happen within 53K miles.

1st time dealer stated bad gas for car jerking when trying to accelerate and engine check light was on - fixed problem. 2nd time (next day) car repeated same problem - another dealer stated bad gas and loose wire - fixed problem 3rd time same dealer stated needed new top dead center sensor. Sensor had malfunctioned. I know too many people who had the same problem and continue to even after getting fixed repeatedly. I am scared to drive my new car - not even a year old.

Engine check light went on twice. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said fuel filler: Cap was not on properly. Then, it was electrical system causing engine light to come on. A week later, SRS light came on, indicating something wrong with airbag and seatbelts.
