Accord LX 4.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

My problem was the REAR BRAKES! The damn rear brakes are not suppose to wear our within 30,000 miles! I have owned 10 new cars in 40 years, NOT ONE of the cars rear brakes wore out within 30,000 miles! I had to pay $164 to get new pads installed and I intend to recover my money in Florida Small Claims Court!

Accord Coupe 2.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,300 miles

Their excuse was that brakes wear more evenly but the rear brakes have thinner pads. If this is the case then why aren't the pads the same all the way around. I complained to the dealer and they are going to refund $150 of the cost. My 1999 Accord went 61,000 miles before it needed rear brakes. There is no way I should have needed new brakes while it's still under warranty.

Plain and simple rear brakes with 4 wheel discs should not wear out at 13,000 miles.

Accord EX-L 6 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,000 miles

My 2008 Accord has 26,000 on it. Most of my driving is traveling from one state to another via the interstate. Of the miles on my car I would say 20-21,000 of these miles were via the interstate. This is my first Honda and if the brakes continue like this, the last. I paid the dealership to replace the back brakes and was told that a new braking system on the car was the reason. I was also told that most of the braking on this new car comes from the back brakes. I mentioned that on most cars the braking power comes from the front rotors and I asked why the front rotors were larger than the back rotors. I was then told the car applies the appropriate braking power to the needed area of the car to eliminate the front of the car from dipping when applying the brakes. If anyone knows something different, please advise.

Accord LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,240 miles

At 17k miles my car started making the most awful noise! Thinking it was residual from a tire change, I brought it back to the tire care center only to be told my front pads had vertical cracks and the rotors needed to be resurfaced and the back pads had 50% wear on the inside. I then took my "new" car to the dealership since this is undoubtedly a defect, only to be told that the front brakes are supposed to have cracks in them...am I really that stupid???? And the back brakes are my responsibility. Ha, I don't think so. Then the girl, (yeah, I have a girl trying to pull one over on me, a girl, which pissed me off even more) told me that they would cover the back brakes on "good faith". "Good Faith" can you believe that? Sorry, I'll be causing an uproar in their service department everytime those brakes go bad up to 40k miles. Honda will eventually have to address this problem.

Accord LX-P

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,100 miles

This is absolutely INSANE! I bought a new 08 Accord in September of 2007 and I have had to put it in service twice. I only have 13K miles and have had the same problem twice in the past 3K miles. Do I smell a LEMON?!?! This is the last thing I would expect from a Honda.I have had several Honda's in my life and have never had any problems even near the problems I am having with my first "brand new" car. The dealer and Honda act completely surprised both times I have taken it in to service, and now I find out that thousands around the country are having the exact same problem and certain models are on the verge of a recall. COMPLETE BS!!!!!!!!

Accord EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

Our 2008 V6 Accord was seen by the dealer today after we noticed a squeal.... REAR brakes are at 2mm and they said that our Front Rotors are warped... Plus, our Rear shocks are bad and our Alignment is out. We only have 28,000 miles and think this is INSANE. btw...The only warrantied item are the shocks.

Something is definitely going on with this "new" model and I don't know where to turn.

Accord EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,000 miles

I purchased a 2008 Honda Accord EXL in September 2007. I take my car to the dealership for all regular routine maintenance. Last friday the repair guy informs me that my rear break pads are almost down to the rotors and need to be replaced. I am completely floored! I tell him this car is new, there is no way the breaks need to be replaced this soon. I have never had a pair of pads go bad so quickly, this is ridiculous. I as well as my family have always purchased Honda's, so I am very familiar with these vehicles. This has never happened before. The pads have to be defective in some way.

Accord EX-L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,000 miles

Rear brakes wore out in 26,000 miles! I have an 04 Civic with 150,000 miles that still have life left on the original rear brakes. Dealership said it is not covered...thanks for nothing HONDA.... the service manager agreed it is a defect but they have not seen enough of it to do a recall or service TSB yet. He also said it will most likely happen again in about the same mileage this is crazy Honda needs to man up and offer a fix.

Accord E-XL 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,800 miles

Bought a new 2008 Honda in February and use it for commuting, almost exclusively highway miles. At about 23,800 miles, got a scraping sound from the rear that wound up being worn brake pads. Our dealership said they've had a number of '08 Accords come in with worn rear breaks at between 19,000 and 25,000 miles. I have NEVER had a car that had rear brake pads wear so soon, but it wasn't covered under warranty and the dealership sent us to Honda America to complain. We wound up swapping out for ceramic brake pads at a local mechanic.

Accord EX-L 4 cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 22,300 miles

For about the past three weeks, I've been hearing a scraping sound from my rear breaks. I took the car in to my dealer who, upon his inspection neither heard the scraping nor noticed any problem with the breaks. The other day, as luck would have it, I got a slow leak on my rear tire. When I pulled into my local Firestone repair shop for my tire repair, the tech immediately heard the scraping and when he removed the tire, he noticed that my inside pads were completely worn (on both rear wheels). This is what is strange, the OUTER PADS were completely fine. Well I went back to my dealer who confirmed that my "inside pads are shot". The dealer says its a wear item and therefore, there is nothing that he can do. I responded by underscoring that only the INSIDE PADS are worn therefore, the calipers must not be working properly. Dealer says that his tech found no problem with the calipers etc. THE CAR ONLY HAS 23K MILES ON IT AND ITS 11 MONTHS OLD. I may not know a whole lot but I DO know that brakes should last longer than 23k miles!!

If anyone has experienced a similar problem, please let me know.

Accord V.6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I purchased a 2008 Honda Accord coupe in October of 07, I live in Maryland and do a lot of highway driving and can admit that I rack up a lot of miles but there is no reason that to date I have had to replace the back brakes on my car 4, yes 4 times. The cycle started just 3 months after I brought the car and then 3 months after that is April, and then 3 months after that in July and as of today I just picked up my car from the service department for breaks once again. Fortunately the breaks have been covered and no money has come out of my pocket but that doesnt excuse the service that I have received in the service department of Ourisman Honda in Laurel Maryland. I attempted to contact the manager of the service department when I first realized I was having break problems again, for 2 weeks he never returned my calls. After calling and becoming a little irate I was finally put in touch with him. He was not very sympathetic or apologetic to my situation and blamed problems with there phone system as the reason for not returning my call. I had to contact my sales person who is always helpful to me for instant results. I was told by one of the service reps that this would be the last time my breaks would be replaced at no charge. This is a obviously a defect in the breaks so I dont feel that I should be responsible for the cost of breaks at any point and I expressed that and was told that he doesnt like to argue on the weekends. I refused to go back and froth and I now plan to contact the BBB and any other parties that will be able to assist me with my unpleasant service experience.

Accord EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,500 miles

It's nice of Honda to change the order in which the vehicle brakes; rear first, then front, but at the very least, they should have installed the same if not bigger pads and calipers on the rear axles. This leads me to believe that this was planned maintenance on their part, because Honda engineers cannot be that stupid. Not good!
