My front brakes are WARPED, not as much as my rear. My rear have a serious SERIOUS problem! I don't like the brake system, and I am definitely buying new ventilated ones, preferably Brembo.

This is really unacceptable; my friend's 2000 Civic EX has never needed a brake pad change, and when he hit 110k miles, we checked his rear ones...not even half way finished in pad life! I've replaced mine 5 times now!!

I felt the warped rotors at under 10,000 miles and finally got the wife to take it to the dealer at 14,000. By that time, it was warped so badly that applying brakes on the freeway caused the entire car to shake violently. I was afraid on slick pavement it might actually cause a skid. With such wearage at such low mileage I felt it was a warranty issue. The dealer disagreed and blamed our driving style, even after I told them that none of the other seven cars we've owned had this issue. I took the car back from the dealer and fixed it myself. I tried machining the rotors but they were so warped that not enough material would have been left afterward, so I ended up buying brand new rotors (at 14,000 miles!). In contract, my 2003 Chevy truck has 50,000 miles and the brake pads and rotors are all original and look and work like new. It ended up costing $96 for the rotors and pads for both front brakes. The brakes actually work better than new now, not as grabby and easier to modulate. (Wife is happy!)

When I drove at higher speeds and braked the whole front end starts shaking, so went the Honda dealer and they said the rotors are warped and it would cost about $150 to machine them and they also said the brake pads were good. My dad has owned a car repair shop for 30 years in the past and he said before the pads are worn out, the rotors cannot get damaged and it is a manufacturing defect. So I called the Honda customer service and also argued with the Honda dealer that it is a manufacturing defect and not a driving issue, they finally said they would machine the rotors for free one time as a courtesy. I am very surprised Honda makes such cars.
