Rear brake pads on 2000-2009 Honda Accord wear out within 1 year or so -- 18 months in our case. Usually rear brake pads last for many years. This is a serious potential safety hazard. Honda has received many complaints about this, but is still refusing to admit any problem through a tsb or recall. I don't think anyone is expecting to have their brakes be completely gone that fast. My wife had a near miss accident when traveling with our children because the pads were so worn out. Please use link to see more complaints. 2008 Honda Accord exl-V6 4 door automatic transmission - 8,310 current mileage the 2008 Honda Accord brake system is defective...see complaints www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2008/brakes/premature_brake_wear.shtml I bought my car brand new on 08/20/08. Within months of the purchase the front brakes were replaced and now the rear brakes have a continuous squealing sound. I brought the car in for service but the service rep at the dealer said that it was a known problem and not a safety issue so I should contact Honda directly. I have made numerous phone calls to both herb chambers Honda in burlington MA, where I purchased the car, and Honda corporation and they have both flat out refused to fix the problem but have both admitted that there is a problem with the brakes again reiterating that it's "not a safety issue". the do not have a time frame as to when a fix will be forthcoming. This is unacceptable!

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The vehicle was purchased on June 21, 2008. The contact noticed that the rear brakes were squealing. In may of 2009, he took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the brake pads. He believed that it was too premature for the brake pads to be replaced. The failure mileage was 17,450 and current mileage was 17,700.

Loud screeching noise coming from passenger side rear brakes. Screeching continued to get louder so I brought it into Honda expecting the issue to be covered by the warranty. I was informed by the service technician that the rear brake pads needed replacing and the sensor was worn out. He said he has been replacing lots of pads on the new Accord and that they seem to be prematurely wearing out. After searching the web I found that hundreds of other people have reported this defect.

Premature brake wear on Honda Accord 2008 models. These new cars require expensive brake repairs (new rotors and brakes) as frequently as every 15K miles. Having owned prior cars, needing to replace brakes every year is unheard of.

Driving on highway and noticed terrible screeching noise from my rear brakes; took to dealer and they said I need new brakes! the car is 1 year old - a 2008 Honda Accord - primarily highway driving. I have owned many cars in my lifetime and never had to replace rear brakes at 24K miles.

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for an oil change and was informed that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. The contact inspected the old rear brake discs and learned that the ABS in the newer Honda will place more wear on the rear brakes because they have thinner pads. He would not have known about this had he not gone to the dealer. Therefore, he believes that there are numerous Honda owners that are unaware that the rear brakes are wearing between 20,000-25,000 miles, when it is supposed to be 40,000 miles. The contact believes that a recall should be issued and thicker brake pads should be installed. The current and failure mileages were 22,800.

This incident involved failure of the braking system on my 2008 Honda Accord with no annunciation or warning that there was any problem with the braking system. Fortunately, I was traveling at slow speeds with very little traffic. I had driven about a mile and a half and had multiple stops for traffic lights and/or stop signs with no indication that there was any problem with the braking system. I had just accelerated after leaving a traffic light and was traveling 25 " 30 mph. I attempted to slow to make a right turn into a gas station parking lot. At the point of braking, I observed absolutely no slowing in response to applying brake pressure. There was little resistance on the brake pedal and I continued to depress the pedal. Still with no slowing in response to braking, I used the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. After safely stopping, I attempted to better characterize the braking problem. I was able to repeatedly reproduce the failure, however did confirm that if the brake had been fully depressed and then a very quick pump to the brake, excessive and dramatic pressure was temporarily available. I phoned my husband for assistance and he was able to carefully drive the vehicle, using the emergency brake only to lynwood Honda for investigation and servicing. We have been advised by lynwood Honda that the ABS modulator had failed, however, there were not faults recorded in the vehicle"S computer which is why no dashboard indication occurred. They also indicated that this was the second such case reported on the 2008 Accord. I personally attempted to call Honda of America customer service and was not satisfied with the explanation and / or action they were able to advice me they were taking as a result of this incident. Note that the vehicle has been maintained according to Honda's recommended schedule and has been done exclusively by the lynwood Honda service department.

This is for my new 2008 V4 Honda Accord LX: There was serious brake damage incurred from normal wear on the car requiring brake system replacement with only 14,423 miles on the car.

Premature rear brake wear on 2008 Honda Accord LX-P. car taken for 20K mile service today, was informed rear brakes worn to 2mm while front brakes have 8mm. No mechanical defects advised by dealer, claim normal wear-and-tear. They are covering parts and labor under warranty except the brake pads. Cost to me is $75 in addition to the normal service changes of $148, total bill $213 plus taxes and fees.

My 2008 Honda Accord LX-P began making a terrible screeching noise when braking and driving. Sound was due to premature rear brake wear at 22,600 miles. Honda said they are aware of the problem but currently won't cover the problem. They are calling this problem normal wear and tear.

2008 Honda 4 cyl. Accord ex - premature brake wear. Had to replace rear pads/rotors after only 25K miles, which were all highway miles. Previously owned a 2000 Accord, with exact same driving pattern and only replaced every 70K miles. At this rate, I would be spending an additional $3-4K in brake maintenance to get 250K miles! this needs a recall and/or reimbursement for the life of the vehicle.

Took car in to a Honda service center for a "minor" service maintenance. Was informed by the service manager rear brakes are worn and won't last till next oil change 3,000 miles. Since I use this for my job of visiting patients at home, I felt at risk if I didn't get brakes fixed. Car mileage 24,000, owner of third Honda Accord, never had brakes replaced within a year and at such low mileage, not to mention back brakes. There are hundreds of complaints of early brake wear all over the internet. What is it going to take to recall and fix this problem for good. Will someone be injured or hurt before Honda is forced to recall for this problem? this is an expensive job and unacceptable to put lives at risk.

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 5 mph on normal road conditions, the rear passenger side tire began to squeak loudly without warning. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was driven at any speed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the brakes were worn down to the metal.
