I have noticed that my 2008 Honda Accord (vn [xxx]) has been consuming plenty of oil. After reading about the millions of complaints I decided to ask how can I get my car fixed by the local dealer. Two of my friends, personal and mechanics at the Honda dealer have said I should contact the corporate company and ask for the recall issue. I have also followed the instructions from the site (www.hondaproblems.com/trends/excessive-oil-consumption/). I hope this letter will help me with my favorite auto company. Car sporadically dying (electrically and all) while in drive or in motion of forward driving (while going 30 + mph) and then just as sporadically turning itself back on. Makes chain dragging sound similar to worn brake pads but the sound will change pitches while driving between 0-43mph. After 43 mph it no longer makes odd sounds but as soon as deceleration begins it is at risk to either temporarily "die' or slightly jerk and almost "die". this has happened while driving up to 20 times within 3 miles and the first time it "died" was while pulling into a parking spot and fully stopping. It has not done it for the last couple days and local mechanic could not diagnose it as the battery was in great condition and everything appeared to be plugged where it should be.

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The vehicle was taken in for sevice under tsb 13-078. The vehicle was diagnosed that cylinders 1, 2, 3, and the piston rings failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, cyclinder 4 failed. Cylinder 4 was not replaced, but was included in the tsb. It was not reading an error at the time. As a result, the engine failed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.

I have a 2008 Honda Accord ex L V6 and the problem I'm is my car died before it died I was on the highway and it started jerking so pull off the highway and as I come to a stop light the battery lights come on light turn green as I hit the gas very slow to shift into gear then it dies and I note the battery and also the alternate is less then a yr old once I jump it off it started up no problem but once I put it in reverse it did not move I give it gas and nothing

Engine uses two to three quarts of oil between oil changes. The problem started around 60,000 miles. The check oil light does not come on. The engine will knock when starting when the oil is low.

I have a 2008 Honda Accord ex-L which I bought new with 153000 miles. It started using oil several months ago. After my last oil change I checked the oil at about 1000 miles and it was over 2 quarts low which I replaced and checked it again after about 600 miles and found it to be over a quart low. I have the oil & filter changed ever 5000 miles and this should not be happening.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that there was an oil leak and a socket needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine would need to be removed to repair the oil leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

Car rattles from cold starts. Honda dealership notified but cannot replicate, because it was driven there. Took Honda many years to release a service bulletin, but what about us that are out of your warranty? called Honda customer service, and even though the bulletin reads all 2008 Accord, they keep repeating VIN specific. Case #05211326. Honda step up and fix your mistakes. The date is incorrect, it has been going on for a while, did not save the date.

Car lost power and nearly stalled when sitting at a railroad crossing intersection. This was later confirmed to be a oil leak into the pistons that caused the engine to misfire. Car would not run smoothly and nearly stall when driving up to 50mph.

Check engine light intermittently on and off from 02/2016 (codes P1009 camshaft position and P0341 camshaft position a circuit each time). Car stalled a number of times when running stationary and in motion in August 2016. Honda dealer on August 9 found camshaft timing chain stretched and in need of replacement. Car had 41,059 miles on odometer and power train warranty of 60,000 miles or 5 years. Repair cost $1,562.90. Honda refused any compensation even though mileage well under 60,000 miles and the vehicle was in excellent working order including engine oil level. Repair should have been covered as an exception under warranty. Consumer reports magazine shows frequency of repair very poor for major engine problems for 2008 Honda Accord(obviously unknown at time of purchase 12/2007). Major engine problems not cited for Honda Accord from 2005 through 2015 in consumer reports magazine.
