I have the 2008 Honda Accord with the 4cyl engine and drive approximately 8 miles per day. Within the last few months I have noticed significant oil loss in between oil changes. Approximately 3-4 quarts needs to be added in between oil changes. There is not a leak to be found and I am not blowing smoke out of the tailpipe. Upon additional research, I've found that multiple other owners of the exact same make and model vehicle are having this same issue. I've taken the vehicle to a local shop to have it looked at, but still don't have a resolve. Honda just recently lost a class action suit regarding the V6 models, but still won't admit to the issue with the 4cyl model. I have had estimates anywhere from $500 on up to a complete engine overhaul, which is far more than I can afford. Honda needs to take responsibility for this and fix the problem. I've owned many other Honda's and this is the first I've ever seen do something like this. Please help! thank you

My vehicle burns about a quart of oil every 1000 miles. My engine makes knocking noises when starting vehicle because of the lack of oil. It seemed to start after dealership performed recall. I have taken to dealership several times regarding this issue and they claim normal for the vehicle.

Hello, I have a 2008, V4 Honda Accord. I started having problems back October 2012 with the oil. When I get an oil change, I would need to add at least 2 quarts of oil before the next oil change is do. It started off with adding oil the very next month after a new oil change! that is so ridiculous. The only way I would know that I needed more oil was there would be a burning smell coming from the car and a knocking noise. My oil light indicator would never light up-which is another malfunction. I took the car to Honda for servicing and told them what the car was doing. They told me that they did not see anything and that if it persists to bring it back in. So immediately I"M thinking that maybe they are not changing the oil correctly"! so the next few months I kind of kept track of the oil and took my car somewhere else for the oil change to see if that made a difference. Within the past year since then, I have had 4 oil changes with the other place and they did tell me that there is probably a Honda malfunction going on because the car is not supposed to keep losing oil within oil changes and having to add oil!! I am going to take my car in again to Honda and see what they are going to do. I just do not want to have the car engine blow up on me because of something Honda should have repaired. If someone else has had any resolution to their Honda place, please contact me at [xxx]thanks. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

For the 2nd time since 2008, I've had to replace the sparkplugs due to PCM issues. The engine light will come on and gives an error code of P0303. Unfortunately you can only go to Honda to have the computer updated, and they will try to sell additional services. Today they refused to update my computer stating the only way to fix was to replace all the sparkplugs despite the service bulletin stating otherwise. Despite this being a manufacturer issue Honda has forced car owners to pay for this repair with no true fix existing.

I noticed transmission fluid leaking from my vehicle. Took my car to a trusted independent mechanic, who determined and documented the fluid leak is coming from a "split-case gasket", where both case halves bolt together. His opinion was that a transmission fluid leak is highly unusual on a low mileage Honda and that he suspected a defective gasket that was improperly sealed, prior to leaving the factory. Made an appointment with the service department of leith Honda in raleigh, N.C., where the vehicle was originally purchased, on August 29th, 2013. The torque converter seal was found to be "leaking" and it would cost$ $1993 to repair, which the dealer would not assume. This is historically been a long standing problem with Honda vehicles, which eventually causes transmission slippage, extensive transmission damage, loss of power, causing the vehicle to suddenly stop. This potentially can lead to severe injuries and death. I consider this problem a critical safety issue, well known to the manufacturer and dealers. I am appalled and outraged by Honda's lack of integrity and apparent disregard fo public safety..I am sure it is related to their "bottom line" I respectfully am requesting your Agency to investigate my complaint and to review other owners complaints and horrendous experiences, on line. Please force them to acknowledge these defects and make them accountable to prevent future injuries and deaths, that likely will occur to unsuspecting Honda owners.

This was the second time my car accelerated for no reasons while I was driving. The first time I was only driving 35 miles an hour and no one was in front of me. The second time the car accelerated as I was stopping at a red light. I barely missed a car by one foot. Both times I went to the Honda dealership in sanford. Long story short...no one knows how to fix it. I am extremely upset over the idea that there are all car owners with these electronic systems that don't work. The second time my three year grandson was in the back seat. The dealership said the electronic system sent a message that designated that there was an acceleration or malfunction. Anyway I am sending this because I wanted my car fixed and because it is a paper trail if someone gets killed in this car. I will no longer own a Honda. This was my second Honda and until this I was very satisfied. I now have a car paid for that I cannot drive. I do want the public to be aware of this problem. [xxx] I don't have the VIN number. My car is parted outside the dealership in sanford, N.C. waiting for me to pick it back up. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I bought this car pre owned at 15K the back brake went out on this car after 1year at 24K I replace brake myself I was curious why would a back brake wear out so fast on doing online lookup I found numerous owners had the same problem so I called Honda regional office and I given a refund for the expense. Now last year June I notice cold rattle start on my engine and now is progressively getting louder. I did a look up online and my mechanic said it vtc ( variable timing control ) actuator was found to be defective. I think Honda should replace this since my car now has 80K miles I might be out of warranty.

2008 Honda Accord purchased new at gary force Honda bowling green ky. First issue: Cold start rattle, dealer replaced atc actuator, problem corrected. Have replaced brakes on the car 4 times. Most recently replaced approximately 1 year ago and now when brakes are applied the steering wheel vibrates worse than a road wagon. At 70,000 miles oil light came on, checked oil and none was on the stick. Added oil, took the car to dealer, they replaced vtc actuator but it did not correct the problem. Complained again and they performed oil consumption analysis only to tell me it was using less than one quart per one thousand miles and that was the industry standard. A few months later I became more irritated about the problem and complained again. They performed another oil consumption analysis to tell me it was using more than it was previously but less than one quart per 1000 miles and wouldn't do anything. Currently the car has 100000 miles on it and yes, the warranty just expired and it's using one quart per 1200 miles. I wrote Honda of America a letter and complained. They called but other than kind words, they did nothing. Oh and have I mentioned the head lights.... they blink when the heat or air is on. I must not forget that the leather on both the arm rest and console has bubbled up but no signs of wear or damage around the bubbles. And let me not forget the most recent issue: Now often times while setting completely still at a stop light and/or going down the road I hear a clicking sound in the steering column. I am not turning the steering wheel when I hear this noise. It just starts clicking, kind of like an electronic click coming from the steering column. Oh what a piece of junk Honda made when it built the 2008 Accord. Paid 30,000 for it and I'm sadly disappointed.

Our 2008 Honda Accord LX (4 cylinder) has been burning oil at a rate of 1qt / 1000miles. I am the second owner of the car. A lot of other Honda Accord owners (2008-2010) have reported the same problem online in multiple forum: www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2008/engine/excessive_oil_consumption.shtml my biggest concern is that the engine would stall during a long road trip across country which we've done in the past with other cars.
