After my 2004 Accord EX-L was totaled in an accident in May 2013, I purchased from Gwinnett Place Honda in Duluth GA my 4th Accord - a silver 2010 LX sedan. The car was a former lease with only 30K, in great condition and a clean Carfax. Around August I noticed in various places on the front bumper small chips in the paint. I was pissed, but assumed it was due to crap hitting it from the road, though I make a conscious effort not to drive behind big trucks that would kick up pebbles, etc.
A couple of weeks later, I went to the dealer for one of my free oil changes and showed the service tech the bumper. By this time, paint was starting to chip in other places on the bumper and the older places had grown in size. He blew it off as road debris. I have driven 4 Accords since 1992, all purchased new. I know things can go wrong, so I thought since this one was used, I'd cover my ass and purchase the extended warranty. Of course, when I stated I have the warranty, I was told it doesn't cover paint. When I pushed a little and said this is obviously not from road debris, I was told again it's not covered.
For the next 6 months I have watched the paint continue to chip off my front bumper with a majority of it happening on the right corner. None of my other Accords had any paint issues. Each time I go the Gwinnett Place Honda I'm told there's nothing they can do other than repair it at my cost. When I requested help in getting info from Honda of America, I'm told to go to the website. My resale value is screwed. Obviously Honda is using cheaper paint now. Honda has now lost a four time customer, but I doubt they care.

I am really, really upset about this problem! My car's paint is chipping ! The front bumper is totally bad !!!
I just got my car last year of July 2013. A 2010 Honda Accord EXL. But, it seems a bad one ! Can't figure this out until I started looking for some problems on line. And Yes! It's really true, lot's of people have the same complaints like me. I took it once to Honda Dealership and they told me that there's no re-call on 2010 about the paint. But I told them that they should do the paint recall on the 2010 Accord too! Because it's the same problem!! They used a defective paint!!!!
WE NEED SOME HELP ABOUT THIS, PLEASE!!! I don't know what's going to happen this summer ! I am scared to see more paint will be peeling off! Because of the HOT WEATHER! AMERICAN HONDA HELP US! We are expecting that this Accord will be a very good one to have, right now I am totally not satisfied!!!!

Paint peeling around back glass, primer still intact. Noticed last fall. Took into dealer, they finally got back to us then took back to dealer for estimate. American Honda says they will pay 50%. Why would we have to pay the other 50% when it is a defect of there paint. Never seen paint peel like this on a car at the time 3.5 years old. Honda has some crappy paint. Contacted American Honda, they are reviewing case still.

I have always loved Honda's. I owned a 1998 Honda Accord EX for close to 15 years. I finally purchased a newer Honda, a 2010 Honda Accord EX V6 in 2013. After approximately three months after purchase, and after the factory warranty had expired, my paint started chipping on the front bumper. I noticed it after coming back from a auto car wash. It wasn't as if it hit anything. It appears to just peal from the pressure of the water. This is freakin ridiculous, and I'm highly annoyed that I will likely be getting my entire bumper painted at my own expense. It has completely changed my opinion about the once "beloved" Honda Accord. I have a car note each month, and I want to be proud of my vehicle but I definitely feel like I was completely slighted. Although so far so good with the longevity of these cars....I am totally dissatisfied with the paint body, and if I can't resolve with the paint job, I will likely trade the vehicle and never purchase a Honda Accord again....

Certainly will affect ability to sell vehicle at its appropriate price
body shop says existing paint must be removed & repaint

In 2010 I bought a certified 2007 Honda Accord LX with 41K miles and the paint on the roof started peeling just after six months of having the car. The dealership didn’t care and told me it’s my problem and that I should fix it myself. I had to file a complaint with American Honda in California just to get Brandon Honda in Florida to fix it. Then seven months ago I traded the 2007 Accord in for a certified 2010 Accord LX with 34k miles at a different dealership Wesley Chapel Honda and several days after taking the car home I noticed spots on the hood and front panel. I took the car back and they had several mobile touch-up painters try to fix it but it looked terrible. I spent 3 to 4 days going back in forth to the dealership just to fix this. Then a month later the roof started peeling, you could see the sheet metal. The dealership didn't want to fix this I literally had to threaten to resolve this by legal remedy just to get them to fix the car. So it took them a week to decide on fixing it then another week just to get the entire roof painted. This is a 2010 Accord that needs the entire roof painted in 2011, something’s wrong with Honda! Their quality has gone to zero. My car has been repainted and retouched four times within the first three months I’ve had it and it's only two years old. The paint looks terrible in certain areas while other areas look okay. Honda will fix this situation or I'll never buy a product from them again plus I will resolve this legally if necessary. Also I just found out that my 2010 Accord has been previously damaged in a wreck before I bought it. Upon purchase I asked the sales manager for the Auto Check history and he told me there was 1 accident reported but there was no damage at all to the vehicle and that the previous owner that traded the car in explained that minor contact with another vehicle is the reason for the report but the was no damage at all. But after confirmation from a certified collision shop the car shows it’s been damaged and reconditioned which means Wesley Chapel lied and didn’t inspect this car before certifying it and selling it damaged. Selling consumers reconditioned wrecked cars while concealing any previous damage is fraud. I filed another complaint with American Honda and I was told I’d have to resolve it with the dealership. Now that the previous sales manager doesn’t work there anymore I’m dealing with another manager that promised to find me another car but hasn’t yet and every time I call or email him there’s an excuse and now he doesn’t respond at all. Now as far as the manufacturing issues of defective paint I'm seeing more of these problems with their LX models, which cost $1,500-2,000 less than the EX models which has other upgraded options. It appears Honda’s EX models are a little better in terms of quality but I don't see how in regards to paint because they all come from the same assembly line. Anyways Honda is becoming the worst in automobiles and their Brandon Honda and Wesley Chapel Honda dealerships in FL are the biggest liars and frauds I’ve ever experienced.

Bought a 2010 Honda Accord brand new in January of 2011. Eight months later I notice small paint chips on the hood of the car. In talking with folks, some attribute to a poor paint job and others say it may be due to expressway driving with pebbles hitting the hood of car from other vehicles. I don't know, but it's really frustrating to have paid such a high price tag and to be faced with paint issues in less then a year. Not cool it all!

The car is not even three months old yet. We had it Perma Plated at the dealership, however, the paint is starting to chip off. I am not sure if this is due to the fact that other people are backing into the vehicle or what. I realize that its a plastic bumper, but I though that the paint would stay on better. Has anyone else had a problem like this? If so, what did you do? I don't know to complain to the dealership or to Perma Plate? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you in advance for any help!!!
