The car really is a great car......as long as I don't have to sit in the car. The seats are unbearable for me. I keep hoping the seats will get better, so far, it's not happening.

We took friends with us on a short trip and when we got back he said next time we will take our car, I hate those seats. There is a lump right at kidney level that hurts your back. If you pull froward on the headrest it goes away but comes back when let loose. Honda says they have not heard of this problem. They said they would turn the complaint over to a rep but we have not heard one word. The dealer said they would get back to us both times we called them but have not as yet. The armrests are too far down and the roof is too narrow, when you open the door when its raining the water runs right in the car on the seat, what will it be this winter? Road noise is really bad too. There are no quiet paks in the body, these are extra we were told, $800. what has happened to Honda???

For the first time in the past 30 years driving, I bought a 2012 Honda Accord.
I am sorry to say that it is the most uncomfortable car that I ever had. The seats are as hard as a rock. After driving for 5 minutes my back and my legs are so painful that I am
thinking to sell it off. I think it is fair for Honda corporation to come up with a solution before many Accord owners make so much complaints.
My suggestion is that Honda Corp have a recall, because uncomfortable seats are reasons for causing crashes. Think about it Honda Corp. It is your business and the Honda accord owners lives that are in danger.
Thanks for listening.

The head rest makes sitting the same as on an air plane when they tell you to put your seats in the upright position. The headrest is not comfortable to use at all. I cannot wait to get out of the car if I am the passenger, and I cannot relax at all when driving.
- capt742000, Leland, NC, US
Seats are the 2012 equivalent of a medieval torture device. The head rest pushes your head too far forward. The seat cushion where your shoulder blades rest is curved in, so you are slouched in the seat. The steering wheel cannot be extended enough to accommodate for this, so you either have to stretch or move the seat more forward and have your knees too bent. There is not enough cushioning in the seats, they are hard a a rock. I only drive 14 miles to work, and my back is in excruciating pain for the entire day. Sign the change.org petition and complain to American Honda Corp.! They will only correct this problem if enough people complain about it. I find myself constantly adjusting the seat to try to get comfortable, and I am only in it for a 20 minute drive to work. This can't be safe, yet I was told the seats were designed for safety. Yeah, you can't get into an accident with the car if you can't drive it because you're in bed with back pain.

Test driving this car for 10mins is not long enough to realize how purely AWFUL and painful the ride is when you are in it for as little as 20mins. Honda doesn't see this as a problem! That is ridiculous. I've owned an Acura and a previous body style Accord and both were extremely comfortable to ride in. I expect more from Honda, especially as a loyal customer. (Fyi, this is not a personal preference on the comfort, i had numerous friends test drive the honda around town and that's the first thing they mentioned after grabbing their back.) the Lumbar support has GOT TO BE FIXED!

We bought a new Accord SE two weeks ago to replace Toyota Camry that served us very well for almost ten years. When we got a very good deal on Accord, we didn't think twice about switching the brands given excellent Honda reputation. Our short test drive wasn't enough to set the alarm, but my wife commutes 70 miles each way and after the first day complained about very uncomfortable seats. I tried every combination of settings of this power seat, but no matter what I did there was
annoying hump sticking out above the lumbar area. When driving for more than just a few miles you can't stop switching position in search for a more comfortable one. This morning we notified the dealer who is going to bring this up with the Honda rep. We will see if this is going to help anything. I was really amused when the service director told us he never heard about this problem before!!!
Unless you enjoy back pain, stay away from Honda Accord.

Traded in our VW for a 2012 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L about a year ago; while the car itself has been great, the uncomfortable seat has us looking for a replacement vehicle. My wife and I are in our twenties and the seats have created back issues for both of us. If you drive it in short trips (10-15 mins) the seats are tolerable but anything more than that the seats have me searching the entire time for a comfortable seating position. I could not imagine being any older with these seats. The seats seem to create a large amount of stress on the lower back and you cannot find a good driving position to relieve the pressure. I have not yet been to a dealer but we are planning on it soon. I hope a TSB will come down very soon or we will go back to VW. I expected more from Honda ; I know this overall is such a small part of the car but it is one of the most important features.

Just purchased this car and after driving it 400 miles... my back is sore and the seats are quite uncomfortable.. now what? Everything Else is fine.
- Cristian G., South Bound Brook, NJ, US
My 2012 Honda Accord has the most uncomfortable drivers seat I've ever had the misfortune to set on. During the short test drive I didn't notice it to much but after driving for an hour or so trip my back pain was pretty bad. Took the car back to the local dealer and was informed that they had never heard of any problems and the seat checked out ok. They had no interest in fixing it. Aweek or so later I took it back and complained again and was told by the service tech that everyone else was using a pillow??? This is the same guy who told on the last visit they had never heard of a problem. He said they talked to Honda Corp. and they said would not do anything to fix the problem. Great company huh. Don't sound like the company I've known in the past. This seat has a lumbar and the problem is some how associated the lumbar.

I went with my lady friend when she picked up her new Accord this evening after work. She experienced no problems when she test drove this car, but began complaining about the driver seat within the first 5 miles of the trip home! The seat hits her awkwardly across the back of her legs and is very uncomforable. It hurts her backside & causes her legs to begin going numb. The seat adjusts up and down, but does not tilt forward & back. The 2004 Accord that she traded in does tilt and she never had this sort of problem with that car. She complained so much about it that I searched online for a solution to the problem, when I encountered this site and, at that time, 17 complaints about the uncomfortable seats on the 2012 Accord. She thought that maybe it is because she is only 5 feet tall, but after reading the other complaints, I don't believe that her stature is an issue. She will contact the dealership tomorrow morning. They need to take this car back!

Just bought a 2012 Accord. I have had other Hondas and really loved them. After I drove it a couple days I noticed my back was killing me! I already have 2 herniated discs in my back so I don't need my car to make it worse. I drive 2+ hours a day to work so I need to do something quickly.
I called Honda America and lodged an official complaint. Reluctantly they gave me a case # and referred me back to the dealer. I have an appointment this Friday with their service department and I'm sure they are going to look at me like I have 2 heads! Hopefully they will do something but I am not counting on it.
The sales rep told me I might be able to trade it for another Honda model but there really isn't anything else I want. I did see one solution here that explains how to take the seat apart and remove the lumbar support but I will keep that as a last resort. Hopefully there will be enough complaints at some point to file a class action suit. I think that is the only way any of us are going to get any satisfaction. I iwll say one thing - if I can't get this fixed this is the LAST Honda I will be buying!

To all Honda owners who are in excruciating pain due to the defective driver seats made by Honda… go to change.org and sign the petition.
This driver seat is made defectively as evidenced by the seat bottom from left to right. This part of the seat is not level on any part of the seat bottom. any other car seat is perfectly level on all areas of the seat bottom additionally the seat is sloped from front to back unevenly, there are high areas and low areas. All other car seats are sloped evenly, higher where your knees are and sloped down at an angle to be determined to where your tush sits. Honda accords seat bottom third panel closest to the upright sinks extremely low thereby causing extreme lower right back, hip and leg pain and numbness. This seat is defective and should be fixed.
The upright is protrudes when all other seats are flat. This seat is defective and should be fixed and/or replaced by Honda.
We pay for a quality named car and should have been sold a car which does not cause back, hip or leg problems, herniated or bulging discs and nerve issues. This should result in a class action suit against Honda to supply Honda owners with a seat that is designed within acceptable parameters. it is as if Honda just designed any type of seat they wanted to and sold it to unsuspecting people.
Goto change.org and sign the petition !!!!!!!!

just picked up a new accord SE yesterday; test drove it a few times and didn't see any issues. picked it up yesterday and drove it home about 85 miles away... was painful as hell. felt like something was pushing hard into middle of my back. i never had back issues.
but have been in pain all day and actually CRINGED getting back into the car. i should be so excited about it... but now am very concerned that it's not worth the risk for back injury...
this is unbelievable to see so many people having this issue and yet nothing is being done.
never thought it can happen with a honda. just disgusted after spending that much money.

The driver's seat is too firm and the lumbar is too high. It add much pressure on my back and causing back pain. It is pretty bad.
- lwtx, Austin, TX, US
didn't develop until several weeks in the car...very disappointed with the seat design, tried multiple angles but still couldn't get the chronic lower back pain to leave when driving this car for prolonged times....quite unfortunate for such a nice car otherwise...I hope Honda will issue a recall and replace this seat...may have to sell it prematurely : (

Worst seats ever!! Traded in my wonderful Mazdaspeed for a cheap lease to save money. The worst decision I ever made. The car is is so uncomfortable I get severe back pain after 5-10 minutes!! I will NEVER buy/lease Honda again, they didn't care at all at the dealership about my problem. My wife uses the car for work only, good thing she only works 8 miles away. Funny because the dealership keeps contacting me about being overdue for 5,000 mile service and I'm not even close to that. Shame on Honda!!
- Kenneth N., Scotch Plains, NJ, US
I have owned many honda cars and vans, this is a nice car, but I can't drive it because the front seats are made in such a way they cause me great pain everytime i sit in the front seats. Please I love Honda cars, can someone help me with this problem, or this will be my last honda product. it's hard to get the feel for a seat when you take the car for a short drive, please lets recall these and make the seats comfortable, I have spent to much money on a car that i can not ride in
Update from Nov 13, 2012: We now have roughly 2,000 mile on this accord. The drivers seat is so uncomfortable I had to go out and buy a foam back support(curved) and have to use it on the drivers seat everytime I drive this car. What a shame, to have spent close to 30,000 dollars on a car and not be able to comfortably drive it and enjoy it. This problem needs to be corrected as soon as possible. There are a lot of of complaints about this seat, Honda had better address this problem or they are going to lose a lot of sales in the future. They are blowing us off at the moment, but people talk, and write letters, anfd that is whats going to win in the end. Anyone who has bought a car and has this type of problem is willing to push back and take it to the next level, Honda will lose alot of sells if this is left unsettled.

I was so excited about buying a new 2012 Honda Accord after owning my last Honda Accord for 11 1/2 years. I thought the seats were a little hard during the test drive but I thought that was just because it was brand new. But oh my goodness, now after owning the car for less than three weeks I'm so depressed! The driver's side seat is soooo uncomfortable - it's hard, not as wide as my 2001 Accord, the seat belt latch digs into my right hip and leg (I feel like I'm being tortured!), my right leg hurts since I can't get a good position with the seat. This is a nightmare! This car had a list price of over $30,000 - you would think it would be such a luxury car but NO! I have put a call into my sales rep to see want can be done. This car was a big mistake - hopefully there is a solution. Otherwise I'll have to lose some money and trade for another car. I'm a teacher and just can't afford this!

Very uncomfortable front seats. Back and hip hurts after driving more than 20 minutes. The Active Headrest makes the lumbar unbearable.
