2013 Honda Accord Stranded my wife, 3 month infant, my daughter and myself in the department store parking lot at 9:30pm! NOT COOL!! Won't start...dead battery, never ran accessory power after parking. Just showed up, parked, turned off, nothing plugged into outlets, went inside to shop and come out 30 minutes later to a new Honda that wouldn't show any signs of life. DEAD! I looked it up on the internet on my phone to find out MANY others are having the same problem. This is very devastating to the Honda reputation.

This Accord 2013 was purchased 1.5 year ago. The car is driven/charged daily. We are in Canada. In last month, this NEW car had a difficult cold-start every morning when temperature is about -10C, sometimes even 8 hours after in afternoon, depend on temperature. EVERY morning, I have to pray for a successful start while children sitting in the car waiting for another exciting day. On average, it cranks over 5 seconds with holding the key in ignition position before it finally spinning. Sometimes, a second try needed to avoid overload of the starter. We have a Honda Odyssey, under the same condition, the start is only a puff for it with its original 6 years old battery.
We keep the evidence of such sluggish cold start with over 30 pieces of video-tape. The battery has been checked by two individual dealerships and were told no problem with battery. They told me to visit them again until the car is completely dead. I don't know how this sluggish start will damage the starter, if the starter has to work like this continually in next one or two cold months. The powertrain and battery are still under warranty. Shall I sit and wait until it completely dead? Anyway, it is unacceptable for a owner of a 1.5 year old car start everyday with fear of failure-of-start ! Update from Apr 18, 2015: update, after a winter's drive with 7 seconds holding ignition EVERY start (now it getting worse, not even the fist cold start of the day), the engine light, and three other lights are on. It is send to dealership, and was told the secondary pump is failed. The new parts is ordered. Will keep update if problem solved. ALSO, transmission is noticed jerked and hesitated when accelerated on highway, another complain is issued. Update from May 7, 2015: All right, after the whole freezing winter about 3 months, with this starting problem. In a warm April afternoon,the engine light on the dashboard turned on. Send to dealer, and was told NOW they know the problem. It is the high pressure gas pump, which is failed to inject gas when igniting. So far, the starting problem is fixed and I am facing the transmission problem again....

I am having the same problem as the previous two guys. They updated the software, changed for the stronger battery. Has been in the shop four times about twenty five days. The third time they had to admit the problem because I caught my dead car right at the service when they called me to pick it up. Today I picked up the car after ten days and lied that it never lost the charge. They try to blame it on my after market auto starter but it happened three times before the installation and one time after they totally uninstalled it. I was told to drive it 30 miles every day. If it never died on them within ten days /the same miles in and out/ why would they suggest I should drive it every day? Total non sense!
In my sixty years I have never been the car's slave. Take the trips to nowhere just to keep it charged? The most ridiculous suggestion ever!!! They claim that so much electronics require longer rides. Well, why don't you say to customers that the car is for long commuters when you are selling it? My daughter bought new Audi which is more loaded and drives only locally and has no such a problem. At this point they don't know what they are doing so just keep telling lies and I am thinking to call the car Lemon. At this point I am saying a prayer every time I go to drive. Purchased new about 7 months ago and drove it with no problems. The car was garaged and not driven for three days last month. Took it out for a short drive (less than 5 miles), returned home, and turned it off. 15 minutes later the car would not start. Called AAA for a jump and was told the battery was not holding a charge. Since the car was running, I immediately drove it to the Honda dealership where they checked the battery and for any "parasitic" drains that would drain the battery. The service dept found no problems. I was told to drive the car at least every two to three days to keep the battery charged with the explanation being that Honda uses an "eco" battery that is smaller. If the car was not driven for a few days, I was encouraged to buy a trickle charger to keep the battery charged. Unbelievable!
Incredible, but true story for a "quality" Honda product built in 2013. I have not had to drive a car every couple days to charge the battery in my entire life of 64 years! I purchased this car to have a quality product and peace of mind. If anyone has experienced the same ludicrous response from their Honda dealer or has any suggestions, I'm listening.

I bought a new 2013 Accord because they were known for dependability. My parents had one for years, my brother owns a 2010, he's had no issues with. I buy a new 2013 Accord in Aug and tomorrow it's the 5th time in for a dead battery. Honda, can you see a lemon heading back, I do.

The battery died after only two years of ownership and the with less than 15K on the odometer. I spoke the guy at AAA and he advised that Honda batteries die nearly two years after purchase. Pure junk he tells me. After my experience, I can attest to his observation.
